I was proud to be a rovers fan last nite. it was great to see and hear >2500 fans at an away game in Europe. It was also rather staisfying to tell my friends that 2500 rovers fans were going over to Holland, so much for our poor support!! thumbs up to all that went and im sorry top hear some of you had trouble at the ground :tu:

Without going into the stats, the overwhelming feeling I got at the game, was that rovers won their point fairly easily. Maybe it's different watching it on telly - maybe you are more on edge than when you're actually there.

I'm usually the pessimistic one, but Feyenoord never looked good enough to win this. They could have got lucky if one of the goalmouth scrambles had dropped kindly for them, but they simply were very poor throughout.

As for rovers, well we only did what we had to do. This team certainly needs big money spending on it ASAP, because central mids of quality don't come cheap. As for the wingers, well neither of them has any pace and neither of them can get to the bye-line. That's a bigger problem than it might seem IMO.

However, a job done quite easily. :tu:

Agreed although Emerton can....... but won't! He was at it again last night, his old tricks came to the fore...... a feint inside, a surge down the line and getting half a shoulder past the full back !!!!.............before turning tamely back on himself and allowing the defence to re-form. It really is bloody mystifying and damned frustrating. He must have Hughes etc at their wits end.

Yeah, and the lack of pace is a handicap especially away from home where you need to defend - then break.

Four coaches of fans set off from Ewood at 4.30am on Thursday morning, making good time at first but then caught up with traffic problems at the roadworks near Luton. We made the ferry for the 12.15am crossing and made the most of the facilities on board although the sea was a little choppy. Anticipated travel time from Calais to Rotterdam was not achieved as traffic around the Antwerp area was very bad and it took us longer than expected but the stadium came into view with a little time to spare. The driver managed to alert the police escort which was having a nap at some traffic lights and we swept into the stadium area with little interest from anyone.

Mr Roversmum and I joined the Taylors as Mr Roversmum was in his wheelchair and we needed to get to the disabled entrance. Communication had broken down slightly here and we made our way somewhat nervously through crowds of Feyenoord supporters. We found the entrance and followed directions which turned out to be wrong and we ended up at a dead end with the disabled area and our supporters in view but not accessible. Eventually we were rescued by a very pleasant Feyenoord Steward who kept an eye on us for the rest of the match. We joined half a dozen Feyenoord supporters in the area and had a reasonably good view of the stadium - lower right hand corner in MortenMagician's picture http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/2987/img5187mp2.jpg. The Feyenoord supporters we encountered were very friendly, extremely passionate about their team.

The match went by in a flash, we were very relieved and pleased to find Rovers had now qualified for the next stage.

At the end of the game the Feyenoord supporters quickly vacated the stadium leaving the Rovers supporters waiting for the all clear which did not come for some time and enabled us to cheer the players again when they came out to warm down. To the delight of the crowd Robbie threw his shirt to them.

We were eventually allowed outside to the fenced area and released to find the coaches.

The senior stewards who helped us were extremely pleasant and polite and went out of their way to help us.

Settled back on the coaches the police escorted us for a short distance and we then made for Calais stopping at a shop which the drivers had persuaded to open especially for us to purchase some duty free items. Unfortunately being held back at the stadium we knew would cause us to miss the originally booked 3.15am ferry but on arrival at the port worse was to come. Due to the bad weather ferries had been cancelled and we had to wait until the morning when the weather had calmed down. We eventually arrived back in England to a mixture of cloud and sunshine. The coaches did not all use the same route this time, ours preferring the M25/M40/42/M6 and we stopped for 45 minutes at Stafford Services round about 1.15pm. We arrived back at Ewood just before 4pm tired but in good spirits, and popped into SportsWorld on the way home to get our 2007 Rovers Calendars.

Our coach was very comfortable and we were entertained by DVDs of 'Only Fools and Horses'; Les Dawson; Season's goals 2004/5; Rovers vs Wisla and Peter Kay; and boosted by Pauline's hot drinks (thank you, Pauline).

A great experience, can't wait to go again.

Edit: just been reading about some of you who had problems getting seats etc. That was bad. I was very impressed and proud of Rovers Supporters - great singing.

In Dutch it's "De Kuip" in English "The Tub" ..... my lasting impression is a basterdisation of the two .... " The Tip". How some of these European grounds get a safety certificate is beyond me.

For a start it was unreserved seating, for a sold-out allocation, in a split tier area!!!.... what the hell where they thinking??

When we eventually got in the ground ...just before kick-off ... the only seats we could find where in the upper tier in an area that had seemingly been reserved for 'the Numpties' day out. I can only presume that the crime figures for the Blackburn area dropped significantly on Thursday night ... as by my reckoning every petty criminal from the town was sat in the three rows in front of me.

Directly in front of me was sat 'the chav royal family' ... from granddad, a man in his seventies declaring "Why do we have to have those two w*gs playing up front for us?" to proud mum and dad looking on approvingly as their 30+ year prodgeny tried to smash his way through the Perspex barrier to an un-timely (but not un-welcome) death. And perhaps most distressing of all, the baby of the family , a lad of about 12...being encouraged to follow in the footsteps of his belligerent elders.

As for the train journey back to Amsterdam ... where do I start? I'm in a party including my wife, my mum and dad (both in their late sixties) and a father and son we had previously met in Salzburg. We manage to get on the train and find seats ... albeit singles through a carriage. First we get this big guy wandering through the carriage and totally oblivious of his audiance declaring in to his mobile (bear in mind the carriage was silent at this point) "Yhea i had a n*gger last night but I've got a little slitty-eye lined up for tonight" obvious to one and all he was discussing his Amsterdam buissenes dealings!!!! Prat. The rest of the journey consisted of lads vying to play at top volume their latest clip of Roy 'Chubby Brown' or some porn clip.

Don't any body kid themselves .... there are some real scum out there basking in the reflected glow of Blackburn Rovers ... thankfully they don't judge most games glamerous enough to associate themselves with.

As for the game ..... Sparky put in a bid for their No 24!

Well what can I say ? this litile branch of the Rovers European traveeling army ahs just returned home

To be a Rovers fan in Holland was just simply superb, each and every one of us can be proud to have represented BRFC, it truly was an occasion that I wouldnt have missed for anything.

The match was just a game of football, the bragging rights came to Ewoods fantastic away supporters.

I dont want to make any further comment on the game but I want to reiterate just how proud we Rovers fans can be of our fellow supporters.

I had a great time with the other members of my group and we have just landed back via a delay to brum and a beer in Bolton.

small town in Europe? Yes we are and were PROUD of it :brfc:

Just got back myself - echo all the previous comment. Fantastic time but just spoilt by lack of organisation getting to the stadium, to the seats and then back out again. All the stewards had to do at the was to say what was happening but they stayed silent which just wound people up even more.

Was great to walk the streets of Amsterdam and see blue and white everywhere, all enjoying a fantastic trip away.

Anyway, couple of vids from the night, one from the warm down including the 3 moronic dutch trying to 'have go with us all! - beware bit of bad language at one point. And one from the final whistle 'celebrations' (although struggling to upload the latter.) Will have a couple more when I've managed to have time to go through all the rest.

As I say a few more to follow.

Well I reckon that is just about the best fotball fans song I have ever heard; fantastic! Should be just right for the drummer to play along with and the BBE to belt out. Just needs adapting with some suitable words for Rovers. Anyone?

P.S. As I sit here reading the rest of the posts on here, I am whistling this great little tune at full belt. The wife has just shouted from the next room for me to can it ( or words to that effect).

Take note Ewood Spark. Yes, we can do without the bigotry but we can also do without the snobbery.

And which part of my post did you consider snobbery? Oh and by the way which tier where you sat in?

Unfortunately, there were a few of the same type in the main level as well. We had the now infamous "we are the rovers , we hate P*kis" I have taken pictures of the scum behind me singing that and I'm perfectly prepared to track them down for the club at future matches so they can be banned.

And we had an idiot in the lower tier giving Nazi salutes to the Feyenoord crowd. Don't the TEACH history in Blackburn any more? Or has the moron only half understood the Anne Frank story?

Just got back - a sterling performance from the travelling supporters both at the match and in Amsterdam, so let's not get hung up on a few numpties and let's focus on how we did the team proud with 90 minutes of constant, vocal support. Now let's get a few more European matches to build that level of cameraderie that will hopefully transfer back to Ewood.

OK, so we had to stand in unreserved seating areas - that's not too bad is it or are we getting a bit gentrified nowadays? Perhaps it added to the atmosphere and sense of occasion.

So the stewarding was useless, the Dutch organisation equally so, but I've waited 30 years for events like this, playing in a European country that was not under Stalin where you can have a couple of days out and watch the Rovers hold their own and am not going to let it sour the entire experience. I sometimes think some people are never happy and just like to moan.

The match was a bit of a non-event with a draw being about a fair result IMO, but it was a night where the result mattered most, wasn't it?

And we had an idiot in the lower tier giving Nazi salutes to the Feyenoord crowd.

One person on his own? Did anyone else see him/her?

Until this is corroborated we'll have to give him/her the benefit of doubt and assume he's pointing at a Feyenoord fan.

Unfounded accusations can actually do more harm than good.

See what I mean? Why the focus on one alleged individual when there were 2-3,000 passionate Rovers fans giving it their all in a stadium that could be intimidating. If he was saluting, he'll soon slip back under the stone from whence he came and if he wasn't then perhaps he's due an apology.
