The Harwood Yankee Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Dunno why Gillette Soccer Saturday always have Pinnochio Phil Thompson commentating on Liverpool games. You could see how devastated he was reporting McCarthy's goal! Makes the Preston Hairdresser look almost impartial.

RoyRover Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 McCarthy is really banging them in at the moment. Lets hold on for the next 70 minutes!
Dr Gonzo Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Is Hell's Bells giving us many problems, I hear we've been booooing him
Mr. E Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 (edited) We've done good in this first half, but a few notes: We're still maing mistakes in defence, and are giving Pool too much room on the wings. We're having severe difficulties with Pennant especially, and are giving them too many shooting chances. We really must mark the players tighter and chop the play down a bit. Upront though we're showing some very good touches and Pool themselves are giving us a lot of room. We're still playing the long ball a bit too much for my taste though, we should try and ground it a bit more and get our strikers more involved. McCarthy and Nonda look real good. Credit to Zurab for stopping an 100% goal, though we've had 2 disallowed. I dunno, this 2nd half can go either way.... Edited October 14, 2006 by Mr. E
James No. 7 Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 (edited) Bellamy has barely done us any harm. Really, Liverpool have had a few chances but have done nothing with them. They have had two serious attempts which forced Friedel into a diving save and Khizanishvili clearing off the goal line, but everything else has been easy enough to handle. We have been strutting our stuff on the counter, which is why Liverpool have been dominating. Noteable performers are Friedel, Emerton, Bentley, and the one and only McCarthy, and a couple of others could definitely be included. Most play has been channeled through Bentley on the right. Exiled in Toronto Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Comical defending by Liverpool for our goal, though I do say McCarthy makes all his goals look easy. Everyone seems to be playing well, but I too would feel better if Neill got closer to Pennant.
Rover4ever Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Guess who scores for Pool, that too with a header
The Harwood Yankee Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Bellamy equaliser. How predictable was that!
stuwilky Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I hear we've been booooing him Will those @#/?'s never ever learn?
tony gale's mic Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 why the hell was he in yards of space to head that one home? jesus...
brfcjon Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 was just cursing the ref... and then bellers scores!!!
Exiled in Toronto Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Not good enough from Brad to let a corner drift along the edge of the 6 yard box. No man on the back post. Poor goal.
modes98 Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 We have gone from being in total charge to not being even able to put 2 or 3 passes together. A sub needs to be made to break up play. Bentley is playing amazing well
youandwhosearmy Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Not good enough from Brad to let a corner drift along the edge of the 6 yard box. No man on the back post. Poor goal. They are piling on the pressure now, the crowd is really behind them, we will be lucky to keep it at 1-1 now, sadly
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Will those @#/?'s never ever learn? WILL THEY F**K!!.......MORONS
tony gale's mic Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 arrrrghh! bentley maybe shouldve stolen the points there...
youandwhosearmy Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 arrrrghh! bentley maybe shouldve stolen the points there... he went through but the keeper was already in a good position to save it
tony gale's mic Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 he went through but the keeper was already in a good position to save it yeah wasn't an easy chance, but had he tried to lift the ball over the keeper he mightve had better luck. still not a bad miss. savage was very lucky not to be sent off just then...overall though our performance today has been encouraging except for the period around their goal.
jim mk2 Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Good result, well played Rovers. Bellamy... immutable law of the ex.
