Poita Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 (edited) Anyone interested in meeting up and watching this weekends Liverpool and Rover game in the city somewhere? Game is telecast on fox at midnight saturday night. There are a few decent places to watch it. Already a bunch of scousers coming, would like to see some other rover supporters wearing the blue and white other than myself Edited October 9, 2006 by Poita

Sounds good Blueboy. Fingers crossed the rovers game will be telecast during the time your up in sydney. If memory serves me correctly our game was telecast last year on new years day.
steven Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Will be in Melb unfortunately doing this: http://www.bv.com.au/great-rides/20005/ (The Legend) so I'll be in bed getting an early night. It certainly feels like New Years Day since we were last on Fox!
dave birch Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 This raises the question of should we have a saturday arvo meet up sometime soon? Do we have one before Christmas or wait until the New Year, when there should be a few guys in town for the test match, or both? I can't make the w/e of 11/11 I'll be in Cairns, (if there's anyone up there) or 9th December. Any thoughts?
Blueboy Downunder Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 aya dave. personally speaking, the new year would be perfect for me. as you lads know i am in sydney for the test match, and along with my pal who is coming over from england, we would love to meet up with you all again. I am hoping that the new year would suit and be more convenient for everybody, cause as you say, there is a chance that more rovers fans will be in town for the test match. can't wait to tasts that blue tongue at the nelly!!
juggalo_rover Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Got things on this Saturday, so won't be able to make an appearance. Still haven't been to a meetup yet, looking forward to the next one. Next time have it organised a few weeks in advance and will definetly be coming.

Next time have it organised a few weeks in advance and will definetly be coming. Would have liked to have organised it earlier. But foxsports couldn't tell me if it was going to be telecast. Looks like i'll be watching the game with a bunch of lunatic scousers by myself. ( myself been the onlyrover ) Gawd help me !! Surley there is a rover in sydney who will wear the blue and white halves with me
Poita Posted October 13, 2006 Author Posted October 13, 2006 (edited) For anyone that is interested. It looks like a few of us are going to watch the game tommorrow night at Star City Casino in the sports section with the big tele. I'll be the tall guy ( 6'"6 ) wearing the rovers jersey serving out plenty of shight to the liverpool supporters. So if you see me say g'day Edited October 13, 2006 by Poita
JPW Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 (edited) Hey Boys, myself, SteB and several other Lancastrians will be over in Oz for the cricket from 19th December. We'll be in Sydney from New Years Eve til 9th January. We are also down in Melbourne for the Boxing Day Test. Would be great to meet up with you if you fancy a few beers. A Sydney meet up for the test would suit us down to the ground. Anyone need any of the tat from the store, let me know via PM and we will get it over to you. Regards John Edited October 15, 2006 by JPW
Blueboy Downunder Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Aya john. mate, we must get something organised cause i live bout 1 hr away from the mcg. i will be going to the test match there aswell as in sydney. i will send you a pm with my contact details on, and we can see if we can get something sorted out!!
Poita Posted October 16, 2006 Author Posted October 16, 2006 We will deffiently organise something. With a bit of luck there will be a rovers game telecast. Ive got a few idea's of where we can go. Got plenty of time to organise. Anyone with suggestions for a sydney meet up?
Blueboy Downunder Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 poida...LOL the lord nelson just round the corner from the rocks, is a favoured watering hole when i am in sydney. does a good pint and they also have alternative beers, like what we have never heard of before...it is also a nice place to drink. i know sydney rovers will be in on that, but hey....since when has he turned down the chance for a good session  lets get options from other folks who know sydney too!!
Ste B Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 poida...LOL the lord nelson just round the corner from the rocks, is a favoured watering hole when i am in sydney. does a good pint and they also have alternative beers, like what we have never heard of before...it is also a nice place to drink. i know sydney rovers will be in on that, but hey....since when has he turned down the chance for a good session  lets get options from other folks who know sydney too!! Will have to have another sess in the Nelsen, and back to your favourite curry house afterwards
Poita Posted October 17, 2006 Author Posted October 17, 2006 Belgian Beer Cafe is always good. Ofcourse plenty of good places within the rocks. A few good pubs in woolomooloo. Tillbury, wooly bay hotel etc... Elephant And Wheelbarrow in Paddo is also good.
Sydney Rovers Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 poida...LOL the lord nelson just round the corner from the rocks, is a favoured watering hole when i am in sydney. does a good pint and they also have alternative beers, like what we have never heard of before...it is also a nice place to drink. i know sydney rovers will be in on that, but hey....since when has he turned down the chance for a good session  lets get options from other folks who know sydney too!! Agree Blueboy, and it's the choice of Sydney based Rovers fans since 2003. Just hope I don't have another incident like the last few times I've been there. Seeing as JPW and the other lads are here till the 9th, maybe a Saturday afternoon session on the 6th of January might be a good idea.
steven Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 It would be good to get a few BRFC fans in the Cove too (Bay 23). Sydney FC play New Zealand Knights (which should be a flogging) on 7th Jan at Aussie Stadium. Tickets: http://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/show.aspx?sh=FOOTBALL06
Chris_Roe Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Hey SR... Is that the pub you were asked to leave last time I was up north ? Im also going to the Boxing day test, Days 1 and 3 so any rovers supportes in town would be good to meet up...
Sydney Rovers Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Hey SR... Is that the pub you were asked to leave last time I was up north ?No that was The Orient, and we haven't been back there since. Anyway at the Lord Nelson, atmosphere is better, the food is better (pie. mash, and peas ) and the beer is a lot better at the Lord Nelson.
Blueboy Downunder Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 --> QUOTE(Ste B @ Oct 16 2006, 14:25 ) 452667[/snapback] Will have to have another sess in the Nelsen, and back to your favourite curry house afterwards what on earth are you referring to ste... that is sr's fave joint, but does a cracking banquet though. by the way Sydney Rovers...if the test match is finished before the final day in sydney, then count me and my pal in for a good session of ale at the nelly.
juggalo_rover Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I work right next door to the Belgium beer cafe..... I don't care we go, as long as they're showing the mighty rovers it will be guaranteed to be a good night.
Blueboy Downunder Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) so juggalo, if you work next door to the belgium beer cafe, what are we talking for the cost of a pint? just off the top of your head. by the way, the time that we will all be in sydney for the test match, there is no rovers game on the fixture list Edited October 19, 2006 by Blueboy Downunder
juggalo_rover Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 I think beers are about $6...... No fixtures around then ay....... Oh well, doesn;t mean we can't all meet up for a few beers
