RevidgeBlue Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 This could be the game that gets our stop start season back on the rails again, if we can secure the win that will virtually secure qualification. The key factor is Savage's availability, if he is fit and operating at full capacity we've every reason to hope we can produce a performance of sufficient vigour and tempo to win. If he's out I'd settle for a point and living to fight another day. If Emerton isn't fit I don't see that as a major problem we just need to employ Neill in his usual position and Gray at LB. On the left side Peter is a more than capable deputy for MGP, albeit maybe without the capacity for the wonder strike out of nowhere. And hopefully the game won't be played at quite the frenetic pace of a Premiership which should allow Tugay to operate more effectively than of late. What does worry me slightly is where the goals are going to come from. imo McCarthy has looked a bit jaded over the last three games and to me by the time Jeffers gets round to pulling the trigger, the chance has gone. If Nonda is unavailable I would play Bentley up front with Benni and Gallagher on the right. Or vice versa. The other question is can finally we stop conceding sloppy goals? Heaven help Todd if he'd been responsible for some of the rank bad defending we've seen recently. 2-1 Rovers, qualification assured, season back on track. Hopefully.
tchocky Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Bloody Eurosport grrrr.. I really wonder how they came to the conclusion that they should air Zulte Waregem (BEL) v Sparta Prague (CZE) on thursday with so many more interesting ties to choose from.... Lost for words. This is the Eurosport in europe, not the same as in England evidently
neekoy Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I would be happy with a draw. Not long back Basle defeated Manc, Liverpool, Celtic and Juventus in the CL so they are going to be a worry. I have seen Ergic, Chipperfield and Sterjovski and all are solid enough players. Out of all of them though Delron Buckley could be the surprise, he was quite good the couple of times I saw him play for Bochum, but hat was some time ago. Realistically nil all, hopeful of 1-0
sleepyjack Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Did they not only draw with Liverpool (1-1 and 3-3) and United (1-1 and a 3-1 defeat)?
Blueboy Downunder Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 considering the current form slump that we are in, this games brings on even more significance and importance. we need to arrest the dip in form and secondly within touching distance of qualification for the knock-out phase of the uefa cup. a win would totally boost the morale of the squad, and whilst a draw wouldn't be a bad result, a loss would be very dissapointing and put more pressure on the lads on all fronts. i don't make scoring predictions, but i just hope we win the game and get the 3 pts.

USABlue Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Yes. Their home and away kit clash with our home kit (their home being blue and red, and their away being all white). Therefore the only combination which does not clash is their away AND our away. So when we go to Feyenoord we will be in our famous Blue and White and the Dutch will wear their away kit?
Ricky Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I would imagine they would play in Red and White and we would play in Blue and White. Don't see too much of a clash there.
stuwilky Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 So when we go to Feyenoord we will be in our famous Blue and White and the Dutch will wear their away kit? Strangely UEFA havnt ruled on that and it has been left to the referees discretion.
yellowsubmarine Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Asia Fans, set your alarm clocks! This game will be shown LIVE on Ch 21 Super Sports Plus on 3 November at 3.55am!
RoyRover Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 We've faltered in our last two league games and we need to win this, to get back in shape. We are at home in Europe for the first time for a couple of seasons (apart from the Salzburg game), so we should really go out and attack them, win and give ourselves a great chance of qualifing for the next round. Rovers: 2 : McCarthy x 2 Basle: 1 : Petric

ihtd Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Rovers 1 Basel 0 David Bentley with another European screamer!!!!!
Nayef Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 3-0 Rovers, easy. On paper. In reality, Blackburn 0 Basle 2 3 defeats in a row becomes 4... becomes 5...6...7...who knows where it will end? Bolton went on a 11 consecutive loss run last year. Rovers to follow suit?
berkshireblue Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Coming up for this...2 -1 homw win Who's fit....Bentley and Benni again

ihateburnley Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Can anyone shed some light on the 16-21 club for Rovers fans. I've signed up, but I'm unsure whether it can be used in the European games as well as Premier League games??? I'm assuming not?

According to the Rovers website, Young Adult season ticket holders pay £5. If this does not apply to you, have a look at the rovers.co.uk
