Cannot understand people blaming Sam for Benni situation. The guy has been dropped by all previous managers due to being fat and lazy. He turns up 1 game in 10 and expects to keep his place, then throws his toys out when the manager has the audacity to tell him to train harder. £2m+ is good cash for him, just dont waste it Sam!

On his day he was a bliss to watch - It will be said in trying times that we should have done more to keep him but I think it is time to move forward and part ways.

Agree. Although for me Santa Cruz was better than McCarthy.

What Benni needs to understand is that Sam trying to make him put the effort in was for his own benefit. If only he'd learnt this lesson in his younger days he could have been an exceptional footballer. For some bizarre reason people seem to think strikers fall into two categories. Ones that try and ones that can play. The true greats do both. If Benni had any sort of work ethic he could have been a world beater.

Santa Cruz worked hard for the side and, in my humble opinion, is one of the best target men in the game (when fit). For this reason i will remember him long after Benni McCarthy is a distant memory. When i consider the true greats who played for us in recent years alone (Shearer, Sutton, Hendry, Berg, Jansen, Dunn, Duff, Tugay, Bellamy and Santa Cruz) it just confirms to me how far off that bench mark McCarthy is.

Thanks for 1 good season Benni. But selling you on for 250k less than we paid for you seems pretty reasonable business to me.

I'd like to thank Benni for having the priviledge of being able to watch him playing in the famous blue and white shirt.

A big thank you must also go to Mark Hughes and everyone at the club for bringing him to the club.

We shouldnt be so sour to what was a sad ending but arent they all ?

My attituide is summed up earlier (previous page I think). While he was a great player and scored some crackers, he has had a shocking attitude every year since his first season. Godd riddance to a fat, disinterested barstool. But yeh, thanks for the corker vs Le Arse.

When I listened to Radio Lancs for a short time on my way to the match, I'm sure JW was being interviewed about the move and the impression he gave was that Benni wouldn't be playing against us.

If Benni is still having work permit problems, then sod it, someone tell him I'll marry the bugger!!! I appreciate his contributions at times, and what he can bring to our team, but it sounds like we have a fair price for a vastly unhappy, disruptive slouch, and we should do everything we can to ensure we receive that money. On the proviso that we actually replace him. I don't want to see us with ONLY Kalinic and Roberts as forwards we own in the summer (I certainly don't count Diouf or Hoilett as adequate in that position).

The guy's comments have been infuriating and refreshing by turns but Benni always gave the impression of telling us as it is.

Sam's role in all this has been unedifying. It seems he took against Benni from the start and Benni's leaving is the end product of an all out effort by Sam recently to drive him out of the club.

Calm down mate, Sam has had the balls to ship him out. Big mac has been unsettled since some joker linked him with a move to chelski. Sam hasn't driven him out, he gave him the chance to get fit and prove his worth and Big mac wasn't prepered to work for his ridiculous salary and pull his (excessive) weight for the club.

I've got used to life without him already and he's not gone anywhere yet!

Big Mac will be even bigger, lazier and less interested in west spam after the world cup.

Putting aside my feelings about this transfer, I have read enough about Benni's situation to think the West Ham being have a serious problem trying to get a new work permit for him. An ordinary person in Benni's situation would certainly be struggling but no doubt there is an extremely expensive legal specialist whom I know beavering away as I type this....

like making him train alone extra early and blaming him for our poor form, when he had been one of the only players contributing anything? When playing Di Santo and Robers over and over again because they fit his "hoofball" style while Benni didn't?
