Presty On Tour Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 i go to the local bookies at least once a week depending on the midweek fixtures, to have a bet and place a coupon. i've been doing it for a while and i've won big a few times but have also lost a lot but as long as you set yourself a financial limit and do it for fun it's a good laugh apart from the amount of times i've been let down, like lastweek cost me £400 bucks with sunderland conceeding a 94th minute og 8 wins and 1 draw, not happy days! you can take in to account the form guide, team news, leagues, look at tip forums etc but after all that you still pic your own teams this weekend i will be placing a accum arsenal to beat newcastle chelsea to beat west ham man utd to beat sheff utd bury to beat bristol r swindon to beat torquay wycome to beat grimsby a £10 bet on all 6 selected teams to win £134.90. a 5 fold of 6 bets at £2 which you can have any 5 of the 6 teams win will get you £107.78. any views or tips welcome

McClarky Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Is this a new thing? Sounds a bit like someone's idea of selling shirts with players names on the back for 40 odd quid a go....it'll never catch on.
ihateburnley Posted November 18, 2006 Posted November 18, 2006 When I have a flutter I normally tend to avoid the 'absolute bankers' such as Chelsea and United because their odds are terrible for the risk they actually represent. I'm not saying they lose regularly, but all you need is a dodgy penalty or freekick to equalise and that's your accumulator gone to pot just for the sake of including a team that to be honest will not affect the outcome of your accumulator too much. The 'millionaire' game at Ladbrooks is good, but I'd be astounded to hear if anyone had actually ever won.

Wolverine Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 Sorry, can't get sucked into this. I think I used up all my luck when I used £10 of my free bet with Bet 24 on Rovers to be losing to Wisla Krakow at HT and winning at FT (odds of 23). When Bentley scored in the dying minutes I was a man possessed! The wife promptly banned me from betting again, on the assumption I would gain an invincibility complex. Good luck to those who are betting though!
tcj_jones Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Haha accumulators are so addictive! I remember going through a stage of doing it every week to the extent that I'd pray for some midweek fixtures or some champions league games or something. In the end I started doing it on Scandanavian football and all sorts or ######. I've stopped now 'cos I was just losing too much money. Still, it is great fun.
Cocker Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Still, it is great fun. Yes it is. I have started going to the bookies at 12 with a few mates and making a bet that will turn £5 into 100k. We then go accross the road and spend the afternoon having a few beers and watching the footy. I am starting to prefer that than going out at night.
Jordan Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 For the live games I enjoy having a bet on the corner count i.e. less than ten.
Ozz Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Last season I placed a couple of quid on Savage to score first on all our home games. As I was late for the Chelsea match, I did not place my usual punt. How the people around me laughed when he appeared to score the opening goal at our Darwen End. How I laughed when I found out it was Reids sweat beads that glanced it in!
AlanK Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 I still have a go now and then. Years ago, before sky TV, me and my mates used to do the sheets every saturday. We would go around someones house and watch the scores coming in on teletext! We just kept looping around the pages to take in all the latest scores from all the leagues. happy days.
OJRovers Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 When England beat Germany 5-1 a few years ago, I had England to win 4-1. When Heskey scored the fifth it cost me over £1.5k. I didn't cheer.

Presty On Tour Posted December 6, 2006 Author Posted December 6, 2006 madrid lyon manky milan west am all to win tonight. blackburn and millwall let me down last night with a loss on a draw!!
James No. 7 Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 One of Milan, Manchester, or West Ham will surely let you down in my opinion, but I put $1 (I've got few smaller accumulators going at the moment) for a return of just over $22 for a kick. Five is a good amount in my opinion. More is just being silly. Rovers let me down last night by losing in a small single bet. Serves me right.
RevidgeBlue Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 blackburn and millwall let me down last night with a loss on a draw!! Always avoid putting Rovers in if you can help it, I find it usually ends up with the heart ruling the head and you putting in the result you would like to happen instead of making dispassionate objective shouts as you do on the other games.
Jordan Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Tonights Accumulator AC Milan V's Lille (Home Win) FC Porto V's Arsenal (Draw) Hamburg V's CSKA Moscow (Away Win) Lyon V's Steaua Bucharest (Home Win) Manchester United V's Benfica (Draw) 46/1

Jordan Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Arsenal are cheats. It's just not fair. Arsenal were always going to draw this evening it was inevitable. Tonights Accumulator AC Milan V's Lille (Home Win) FC Porto V's Arsenal (Draw) Hamburg V's CSKA Moscow (Away Win) Lyon V's Steaua Bucharest (Home Win) Manchester United V's Benfica (Draw) 46/1 One out of five aint that bad!!
Presty On Tour Posted December 7, 2006 Author Posted December 7, 2006 some of the results lastnight were shocking, it looked as though there was some match fixing going on in some of those champions league games and a few weakened sides playing due to qualification already in the bag. bring on the weekend where it's all domestic grind, sweat and blood!!
