herbergeehh Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 I know you have a man crush on him, but no was is Totti one of the top 100 of all times. See that's where it all begins.. Ask the followers of Italian football, and 90% of them will have Totti in their top 100. His goalscoring+assist record speaks for itself, the only thing he's missing is a REALLY good World Cup. Not to mention he's perhaps been the best player in the world the last month. But won't bother to start that debate again, hopefully he'll manage to show his qualities to those of you still not capable of seeing his brilliance. And I'm not talking about looks.

colin Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 The problem with a list like this is that, as it approaches the last place , it gets progressively more difficult. Putting Pele & Maradonna in is the easy bit. It's justifying why Darren Peacock is at 100 which Christian Dailly is out of the running at 101. Sounds like someone else is bored shirtless at work today.

The guy did nowt in the Champions League, and was as effective as Stuart Ripley in the Italian team. He is only good in Italy, and is amazingly over rated because of his nationality and looks. He's Italy's answer to John Barnes.
herbergeehh Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Yeah, allright. Keep on debating the top 100.
joey_big_nose Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 This has to be an impossible task. Over the history of the game there has to be thousands of absolutely first rate players which of course many will not have seen. For example my experience of Puskas is about thirty seconds of highlights. A more managable proposition would be the best 50 players of the Premiership. At least you would have a vague idea that people had actually seen a reasonable amount of the players they were talking about and so aable to have their own opinion rather than regurgitating and assessing from journalistic sources.
neekoy Posted December 11, 2006 Author Posted December 11, 2006 I don't think it is an impossible task, as I said, as long as everyone's opinion is valued equally then there is no problem. If we had enough involvement from board members then everyone could have their picks. EG. If I think that Matteo is the greatest player I have seen I would give him 1 and therefore he would be given 100 points. If no one else has him in their top 100 then he wouldn't make it.
