Ricky Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Im here. Got messed around with my hotel a bit. Turned up only to be put in a car and taken to their "sister" hotel, damn that was one UGLY sister!!!! Went back to the CityHotel to get checked in only to find that their are 2 City hotels in Cologne and I was at the wrong one. About to make my way to the wright one soon. German keyboards have the Z and the Y in the wrong places... whats that all about!!! Anyways, Im off for brekkie and I might then start wandering around looking for people. Couple of Rovers on my flight from Brum so that was nice.
Ricky Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Lol, liking my new avatar. Im thinking Glenn could be responsible!!!!
den Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Anyone suggest a bar in Cologne for pre match drinks?
Billinge End Blue Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 There are loads to choose from - many around the Aldstadt with extra on-street serving bars...there will be loads of temporary grandstands around the place for the Karneval parades Thurs - Monday (the local volk will be supping everywhere and from early morning!) PETERSBRAUHAUS is a good one, with good ham shank, roast potatoes, senf and sauerkraut sustenance... Kolsch here we come.... Heading off to Koln now via Llandudno Come on you blues
brightonrover Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Beginning to regret that I'm not going out until tomorrow morning after some of the posts on here - also slightly worried by the posts about City Hotel which we're stopping in. Can't wait for the game - are people heading for this MOPS place for a drink before the game then?

Will Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I'm getting picked up at 3pm, flight at 17:15. Cant wait, Rovers in Europe is better than anything football has to offer. God am I thirsty!
Ozz Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 One of the great great things about this European adventure is that each away trip is like a cup final for the fans. Lots of planning, a few days away, massive away following, unrivalled atmosphere and plenty of tales to tell. I would guess the Boro fans and I know the Bolton fans all had similar experiences in their cup runs last season, and makes watching football much more like it used to be, as opposed to the hum drum match day experiences in the Prem at Ewood and to be honest most away day trips. The trip to Koln also has the edge on Rotterdam and Krakow in so far this is now knock out football, (over the 2 legs) so, much like the Salzburg trip the edge is there when or if an away goal is scored, means more than the mini league, which again will add to the excitement and atmosphere. Going to bed early tonight, not sure how much sleep I will get but I am setting my alarm clock for 4am. I don't mind admitting it feels like a Christmas Eve from when I were little!

Could not agree more with every single word you said there mate. Oh I forgot to add,for those of you who can't sleep, drink a full bottle of night nurse and strap the alarm clock to your head
