Pace is such a valuable attribute. If McCarthy, who's no slouch, had Bellamy's pace, he'd be awesome.

Bellamy can score the poacher's goals, the wonder goals from distance and can run the channels to create. Obviously, McCarthy's better with his head, but I'd have Bellamy in the team ahead of the South African, any day.

Bellamy is far far better.

Benni is a supremely skillful player and a huge attribute to the team, but there is no doubt he could work harder. If you could fuse him with a player with incredible pace and work ethic he'd be tremendous.

Benni Wardamy?

Ashley Bellarthy?

Craig McWard?

Did my own FM2006 comparison. Do you agree. Benni first then Bellamy (score out of 10)

Pace 6-8

Skill 8-7

Goalscoring 7-7

Heading 6-6

Teamplay 7-6

Stamina 6-8

Ball control 7-6

Flair 8-6

55-54. Benni for me but can we have Bellers back!

Yeah but what about all them other mental categories on FM that no-one cares about but you need - Influence, Determination etc..

I think he's saying that he took the categories off FM and gave his own scoring, not the actual scores from the game (which are out of 20 anyway)

Bellamy 8 out of 10 for pace, 6 out of 10 for team play, 6 out of 10 for ball control ?

ive been thinking about this for a while and i still cant make a desicion.

benni with his first year in the prem has 9 goals already in a struggling side and look at 30 million shevchenko??

bellamy is an exciting player but without his pace how good would he really be then?

it's a tough decision and i'm sitting on the fence!!

Anyone want to do Nonda V Shefki :(

Both big bulky and cheap.

One decides to pass to himself all the time while the other is just awful.

I prefer this comparison. Benni or Sheva? Benni has looked the better Premiership player so far.

Don't say that for God's sake!! we don't want the big 4 sniffing round (or any others come to think of it).

Bellamy vs McCarthy and £4.25 million and also a player who actually wants to be at the club, rather than use it as a stepping stone!

McCarthy for me. Goals tell the story too, 9 already, compare to bellamys of all last season?

He is a continental player with far more technical skills and a much better footballing brain. Bellamy has no brain!

You don't think Benni would trade us straight in for Liverpool given half a chance? C'mon Hughesy, even you know better than that.

This is quite unfair on Benni I think.

That is exactly my thought. This topic is far too premature. We can only make a fair comparison if they are both part of successful campaigns. Of course we are going to view Bellamy with rose-tinted spectacles when he played with us in a season where we finished sixth, compared to a bottom six season so far with McCarthy.

Saying that, Bellamy shades it for me, but McCarthy appears to be a lot more adaptable to different team styles.

A Bellamy-McCarthy partnership? :tu: If only... :(

Hughesey my good man, please arrange for Santa to drop off a crate of whatever you've been drinking at chez Revidge in good time for Christmas. It's obviously extremely potent stuff! :P

I think Bellamy is the better player. Coz he is ambitious. And i hope, he will come back at the next season. He has got only one negative. He is a cool customer sometimes.

But Benni is a good player too. ;)

McCarthy has some great flashes of skill that completely fool opposition defenders, but Bellamy has everything else. He has the ability to make something out of nothing that will win you a game. It is this that makes him a class above McCarthy. Both very good players though. We are lucky to have had both playing for us.

cant believe someone has even asked this question ..... bellamy has pace, can hit the target, isnt lazy, is a born winner and probably the second best striker i have seen play for rovers. benni is somewhere between yorke and cole, think that says it all really!!

Where do Rovers fans see this lazyness?? McCarthy is not lazy, anyone with half an ounce of footballing nouse can see that, if Ruud Van Nistlerooy played for us they'd of said he was lazy, he scores goals which is his job and he links up play, don't start getting onto him being lazy because he's not, I defy anyone to move to the Jack Walker upper for a game and watch him and Nonda play, just watch how hard they actually work. Even when the ball is at the other end of the pitch they're both always moving to try and get some space!
