Cant but feel that there is a hint of Anti Americanism tinged in the attack of the Phelps from some of the socialist, centre-left ( whatever you category you put yourself into ) brigade. Where was the response to a much more enlightening programme regarding ( undercover Islam ) the hate been spouted in our mosques in dispatches a few months ago, their was no response from those who repeatedly defend/ champion the Muslim cause.

The link to the programme was repeatedly made to the show on you tube , but im guessing no-one watched it .Yet the same people will watch some nut cases in the US holding banners at funerals, it kind of highlights the hypocrisy that there is in society

And another topic descends into the same old argument. Just sad.

If you (Matt) bring into the thread a programme on religious bigotry and use such terms as "horrific" and "scum" etc ......is it not surprising that some of us may wonder why you are so reticent to criticise Islamic religious bigotry that is on such a scale as to make the Phelps family seem absolutely insignificant ?

Perhaps , it is , after all , relevant that the white US Phelps family present a target that is more in keeping with your views than the Islamists ....

Like I said , it's all about perspective ........I look forward to Theroux' programme on you know who...

You have no idea what my views are and any language is used is relevant only to the subject at hand. Muslims have, once again, nothing to do with this. Nor does the fact that the Phelps are white make any difference to me. It clearly does to yourself and certain others.

As it happens, I've never been reluctant to criticise Islamic bigotry. I'm not quite sure why some members of the MB are so readily accused of supporting both Islamic fundamentalism and the lunatic teachings of that religion. It's slung around an awful lot but never is it proved.

course not, they dont need proof or have to use logic or produce evidence, god no that would mean they had to think about something and take into account other peoples views and the fact that thye might be wrong. Dont be silly, theres no place for rational argument or debate in this world. You're either a muslim terrorist lover or you aint.

Anyroad, back to the topic I've been watching Blade the series and Jericho.

Life on Mars continues to be a pleasure - "Just Stay Out Of Camberwell Green" :) Edit - or Camberwick Green - oops.

Ps loved the "Oh S**T" sign. The whole episode was brilliant, although Ive worked out the who dunnit formula now

Was watching one of those programmes late last night where money is given away by a hot presenter with big breasts to people who phone in and answer a simple puzzle. One such puzzle involved callers suggesting a four letter word that was made from the first or last letters of four other words. One guy calls in and asks if it's (letter beginning with c, not in the above poster's name). The presenter's face was a picture as she said hard luck and continued to apologise for the next 5 minutes.

Absolutely incredible. It ended in the best possible way, but I'm still totally gutted that it's over. I very rarely watch dramas or anything really that requires a lot of attention, but this was one of the best programmes I have seen in years. I can't sleep until I figure out in my head exactly what happened at the end there!

I didn't know that this was the last ever episode until the very end. I thought it was just the last in the series!

As I see it, Sam awoke in the real world, 2006, but realised that his life there was mundane, disinteresting and deviod of feeling. He throws himself off the building and resurfaces back in 1973. The girl with the clown thing turning the TV off at the end symbolized his life ending.

What I find wierd is that he was so desperate to get back there all along, right to the last. Did he realise that the grass wasn't greener on the other side, or is he just somewhat mentally unstable in the real world? We didn't see his girlfreind at all, although in an earlier episode she said that she was going to stop visiting him in hospital. Why did he have to betray his friends in 1973 and do immoral things to wake up? ARGH so many ambiguities! What a programme!

Yeah, that's my thoughts on things. I kind of want it to be that as there's no way he should survive a jump off a building and I don't go for the fluffy "It's ok, he's back in 1973" ending. Death is more final and a good ending to the series.

His girlfriend was also in the very first episode where she talks about him "having no feelings"!

Talking of the immoral things, why did they all forgive him when he went back to 1973? Or is it that because it's in his head, he can make anything up.

On another note, I've seen rumour that there could be a spin off show called Ashes to Ashes focused on Gene Hunt in the 80's. I hope that's true and it gets commissioned.

Perhaps Sam's revival in 2006 was still a coma-induced dream and was effectively the operation going wrong. Sam obviously thinks it is real but becomes disillusioned with the lack of passion and 'life' in the modern world and jumps off the building to get back. (Which in itself is a nice link to the early episode in s1 where he contemplates jumping off a building to get back to reality...)

Would explain why he didn't have a shaved head and/or bandages after brain surgery. The girl switching off the tv is probably Sam's death. :(

Still not sure the Frank Morgan stuff was necessary, other than to lead everyone up a garden path. Incidentally, Frank Morgan played the Wizard of Oz (and a 'real' character in the film); one of Gene's favourite names for Sam was "Dorothy"; and "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" was on the soundtrack when he revived.

On the Ashes to Ashes spin-off, it'd be great to see, but how can you make a series work when the lead character was a figament of someone else's coma-induced imagination? I just hope that the stories about A2A weren't started to make us think Gene and co were 'real' and there's actually no series planned.

EDIT : Looks like A2A is reality Gene's back

The girlfriend also said in the second series that she was leaving him.

I am glad they have finished it now because I hate when a programme gets dragged out and starts to get boring however, from what I hear its going over to the states for thier good ol remake which will be dragged out for 10 years. If any American readers havent seen this hopefully they will show it on BBC America for you before your guys get hold of it and spoil it.

Some of the cast were on soccer am the other week talking about the spin off but they said that they were only in talks at the mo and nothing had been written.

Damn, I was hoping they would make Gene Hunt real and explain it by the fact Sam Tyler could have read about Gene Hunt etc etc hence why he imagined the character. Instead we get more of the same but with another "ill" person. I hope they don't mess it up.

He never came round-when he was back in his office in 2007, and there was some discussion about some overly politically correct principle to comment on, he saw he had cut himself with a pen or summat. On realising he felt no pain, he knew he was not alive in this world, so chose to remain in 1973 where he felt alive, with real feelings.

I also watched Ideal BBCThree, which in it's third series (or season for the Yanks). The humour is a sharp as ever, with an increasing tendency to drop into more surreal stuff. (See the bible bashing council painters run in with a wasps nest or the necrophilliac next door neighbour stalkers attempt at dressing and speaking like his fiancee Nicky). One of the few programs on TV that makes make laugh out loud.

Dr Who's rather good (not watched LoM its on the Sky+ to watch tonight). I've come round to the fact that Tennant is probably my favorite Doctor now, even better than McCoy. Also his new assisstant is nowhere near as annoying as Billy Piper

Can someone tell me when the Life on Mars discussion is over? I want to put my hands over my eyes and go "nah, nah, nah, nah."

Anyone know where I can find all of the series 2 episodes online (even a legal site I have to pay for them on).
