Grabbi Graeme Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 New series of the Real Hustle started on BBC3, this time they are in Las Vegas to do their con's. Some good ones in the first 2 episodes, the fake Sheikh and the stolen diamonds and how to cheat a casino by swapping the card holder for your their own in which the cards were arranged in their favour to win at blackjack. Although I would imagine the BBC asked the boss's of the casino first if they could try and pull it off and the floor staff were kept in the dark about what was going to happen. although one of the hustler's did say as they were walking away from the table "let's get out of here before we get arrested."

Bazzanotsogreat Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Anyone know what is happening with Heroes season 2 ( I am yet to see any episodes so no spoilers please), are they filming the rest of season two ( they did 10/11 episodes) before the writers strike. Or are they having a smaller than planned second series? Then jumping to season three Anyone know when season two starts in the UK?
Rovermatt Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 They've filmed no more episodes of season 2, the first half of which finished just before the writers' strike.
Jim J Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Apparently, they'll be showing season 2 around April time on the Beeb.
Flopsy Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Ashes to Ashes? It's not as good as LoM but after watching 3 back to back on Sunday, I thought it was still quite good
Jimmy Jupiter Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Ashes to Ashes? It's not as good as LoM but after watching 3 back to back on Sunday, I thought it was still quite good Awful compared to LoM, just can't get into it like I did with LoM. The new lead character (don't know her name) is really cringeworthy at times "I must get back to my daughter and go to her party!". Also her constant references to everyone being an illusion almost ruins what's great about the setting - an illusion. Might also be the 70s setting and soundtrack of LoM that makes that one the better one for me too. Talking of programmes with Life in the title, anyone else liking Life in Cold Blood? Good old Attenborough, long may he continue.
Grabbi Graeme Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Watched the pilot episode of Terminator the Sarah Conner Chronicles last night, it is set after the Terminator 2 film and goes in it's own direction rather than be a link between T2 and T3. It was a good start and hope it can carry on with a storyline rather than turning into a chase every week. It was interesting to see how the story carries on with Sarah and John Conner persude by a terminator and the protection terminator now turned into a female role, she even got to say the line "come with me if you want to live."
Flopsy Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Summer Glau i thought it was most enjoyable. Totally silly, but hey if you believe the massive paradox the 2nd film sets up (I ignore the travesty that pretends to be the third one) then this is easy to enjoy.
Flopsy Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 The Terminator series is excellent (and very very silly) I'm also watching the first series of Veronica Mars at the moment - its excellent, really recomended, and the sound tracks excellent as well
Biddy Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Awful compared to LoM, just can't get into it like I did with LoM. Agree with all that. To be honest, I don't care if she does die which is probably not what the writers want me to be thinking. I think another part of the problem is that in LoM there was a real noticable difference in the policing methods so there was a lot of tension and curiousness between Gene Hunt and Sam Tyler. In this one, even Ray is on board with actually trying to solve crimes. Also, has she only got one type of outfit? Always the off the shoulder jumper which my dad says she would never ever have got away with in the police station at that time. The only reason I still watch is for the excellent Phil Glenister.
Biddy Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 By the way, two US shows to look out for which are really very good, "Jpod" and "Chuck". Aslo, is anybody liking Reaper on E4? I find it ok, but it's a poor mans Dead Like Me really.
Grabbi Graeme Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Enjoying Terminator The Sarah Conner Chronicles, story is good so far and maybe would of been better heading this way for the T3 film.
tcj_jones Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I've been watching Rome season one on DVD this past week and so far I am hugely impressed. The narrative progresses so quickly and keeps you absolutely hooked. I've also bought Life On Mars season one after watching both seasons on the BBC last year. It's the best thing I've watched on TV for a long time.
American Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 The best show ever on TV, The Wire had its last episode last night. Would highly recommend buying the DVDs.
RoyRover Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 The Wire is a great show. We have all the seasons on DVD. I can't wait for the new season to start here. Last night I saw White Girl on BBC2. No doubt that will stir up a whole lot of debate on this site, but I really enjoyed it. I thought that the children were brilliant and life in a changing England was depicted well. The girls gradual conversion to Islam was also very interesting. I'm looking forward to the next one of these series of shows tonight about eastern Europeans moving to Britain.
Jolly Giraffe Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Anyone see "The Fixer" on ITV last night? Bit contrived but mildly entertaining; made a reference to our friends in Yorkshire and said "They're all cousins in Burnley"!
bellamy11 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 The best show ever on TV, The Wire had its last episode last night. Would highly recommend buying the DVDs. I have never heard of this, but I trust the recommendation. What kind of things is it similar to? I know this has been said before, but I watched about 8 episodes of Arrested Development yesterday (despite the fact that I watched the same ones probably only a few weeks ago). If there is a better American comedy then I haven't seen it. Every time I watch it I find new things, and the subtlely and genius of some of the jokes are completely unparalleled.
American Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 There was a show in the 90s called Homicide: Life on the Streets, about the "murder po-lice" and their was a miniseries called the Corner, about the drug culture. The creator is the same. He wrote the original book that Homicide was based off of after spending a year following the Baltimore Homicide unit and wrote the book the Corner after spending a year on the drug corners of the city. The Wire is a combination of the 2 and follows a group of drug dealers in the streets of Baltimore, and the police who set up wiretaps on their phones. Different seasons focus on different aspects of Baltimore life: the docks, the schools, the newspaper.
Rovermatt Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 If you haven't seen The Wire do so immediately. The first four seasons are all available on DVD.
ABBEY Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 all the series of the wire are on fx ..series 3 is 3/4 way thru....ive been watching that and the brotherhood, both are best shows on tv at the mo.
Nelsta Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Arrested Development on BBC 2 last night. Good to see it on British telly...but why on earth so late at night?
tcj_jones Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 Arrested Development is absolutely brilliant, possibly the best comedy ever made. Season Two is my most prized DVD, and I have a lot of DVDs. Season Three is ruined a little by the drawn out Charlize Theron episodes, but they're all excellent. I've ben recommended The Wire by a few people as well. Is it HBO? HBO seem to make all the best stuff.

tcj_jones Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Indeed. Unfortunately though that isn't the only bad thing about the Charlize Theron episodes
bellamy11 Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Indeed. Unfortunately though that isn't the only bad thing about the Charlize Theron episodes How is that a bad thing? It's a great line! I kind of liked the Rita episodes. As you say, Season 2 is the pinnacle of the program, but all three seasons are superb. And without Rita, we wouldn't have had the joke about the seven houses of Parliament.
