Flopsy Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 A random one, but does anyone watch 1)Mythbusters? Or 2) the Gadget Show on 5? being the presenter on those shows is probably the two greatest jobs to have on TV me thinks. And as for Mythbusters, probably the world
American Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Big fan of Mythbusters. Found it interesting when I was over there that they use a different voice over guy who essentially says the same thing but with an accent. I would think any job on that show would be great, especially Kari's personal assistant!
Eddie Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I used to really like mythbusters, but since they've become really poopular they've changed the presentation style and the types of "myths" they look into and I don't find it nearly as interesting anymore.

When I'm in the States, I watch a lot of it as it is really good fun - helps that it seems to be on when getting ready in a morning. Hardly ever watch in the UK, mainly because the voice over is wrong. Still aiming to do a minto and coke experiment at a neighbourhood barbeque this summer if I am a ) drunk enough and b ) have the guts to scare the neighbours.
Grabbi Graeme Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I have watched The Colbert Report on FX, it is a funny take on current news and I guess is a parody of the O'Reily Factor.
Grabbi Graeme Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 As I flicked through the channels I noticed there was a programme on called brothers and sisters in love, anybody from Burnley on it.
Billy Castell Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I noticed that too and thought "errrrr no thanks." Bet it was like that show a year or two ago that was about people who loved animals in a very intimate way-you are disgusted and baffled by the people on the show, but you can't watch something else. I remember that there was this Yank couple who both liked getting jiggy with their pony. needless to say they looked like they missed out on roles for the Texas Chainsaw Massacre for being too inbred. Wish I saw that one about marrying The Eiffel Tower now so I could laugh at more freaks.
Paul Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Bone Kickers! Arghhhhh! Anyone putting up an arguement the BBC wastes licence payers money just got handed this one on a plate. Truely awful. "The excavation of soldiers from the Crusades leads to a hunt for the True Cross" so said the blurb. I thougt this was going to be a six-parter and settled down to watch the first episode (all the Knights Templar stuff is a bit hackneyed now but there you go). Anyway the super-sloothing archaeological team went from digging up soldiers, to identifying them as Crusaders bringing the true cross to England , then potetially finding the cross all while defeating some right wing fundamentalist Christian group in the space of an hour. Garbage.

Garbage. As I was flicking I came across it. Some woman was being hearlded as the second coming of Christ doing Blind Bartimeaus style miracles. hmmmmmmmm
Ste B Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Glad it wasnt just me who thought it was awful. Kind of Indiana Jones and the Lost Script. From the creators of life on mars. Probably hidden in the summer schedules in the hope its never noticed again. Shame really after the Beeb did rather well with Criminal Justice last week

From the creators of life on mars. Probably hidden in the summer schedules in the hope its never noticed again. Shame really after the Beeb did rather well with Criminal Justice last week I watched the criminal justice mini series and enjoyed it. I thought they rushed the last episode a bit but overall it was good
Presty On Tour Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 I'm glad someone else thought the ending was rushed, i thought they they didn't really show what happened to the other characters after the trial. Still, it was a very good watch.
Rovermatt Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Finally finished Deadwood. It's a fantastic series and a real shame that it was cancelled with so much still to be resolved.
adopted scouser Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Marco's feast or summat. The F Word it ain't.
SouthAussieRover Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 "The Shield" which is a great show. Features good cops and "bent" coppers. The good cops get to fight the "bent" cops and criminals.

What are you whittling on about Nicholas? Do you have access to Aussie tv listings or are you getting paranoid? I also suggest you stop playing the innocent card or the question will be posed again.
Nelsta Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Watched a programme on BBC2 last night, It was about Sid James and Barbera Windsor and the affair they had during the carry on days. Really well acted and intresting to see just how besotted with her he was. It was good but ultimatley a sad thing to watch. Although it didnt really touch on much of what was going on outside of the carry on world and it could lead you to believe that her rejection was the thing that brought on his drinking, depression and death. It also skirted on the love/hate relationship beetween Sid James and Kenneth Williams.
Biddy Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Just finished watching the un-aired pilot of the US version of Life on Mars. I can see now why it stayed un-aired and they are re-shooting in New York. Dull is not the word. If you think you didn't care about the woman in Ashes to Ashes, that's nothing compared to the guy that is Sam Tyler in the US. Gene Hunt just isn't Gene Hunt either. As much as I like Colm Meaney, he will always be chief O'Brien to me. Think I need to crack out the DVD of the UK Life on Mars to restore some faith. And the best news yet, looks like series 1 and 2 are coming out on Blu-ray on October 27th and I didn't even think they were filmed in High Def.
Billy Castell Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Sounds as bad as that Youtube clip a few pages ago. I bet the Gene Hunt character was really tinkered with so he's less offensive to minorities and just generally unrecognisable. The only US character I can compare Gene with is Al Swearanger from Deadwood. And he was played by Lovejoy!
Rovermatt Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Speaking of which I firmly believe the best character in Deadwood to be Mr Wu, not Al Swearengen. 'Swedgen NO! Swedgen HANG-DI!'.
