1864roverite Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 The man (or boy) is a complete ar$e for doing what he did on SKY SPORTS NEWS. A Premiership footballer, drunk and demanding his move in front of the camera is a sure way to fall from grace. He did and HAS

dingles staying down 4ever Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I must be the only one, but I'd have him back in a flash. Yes I'd have him back but I think the money side of things may prevent this. If he came back at the end of this season, then Bent's twelve month loan to Spuds will have cost us £7 million, if 50% see-on fee was correct, with Arsenal the only beneifactor. We would hardly see any of the money still owe us.
Hughesy Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Bentley back at ewood?? Cant see it - he is too big headed. If he did however, then surely it would be on less than the £55k a week we offered him as he is now sub-standard compared to when he left. How about we swap him for Pedersen - Harry has always been an admirer of him!
incecticide Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I find it weird that players (of lesser teams) get itchy feet AFTER they've been handed an England cap. Furthering an international career is a liar's excuse for greed. Bullard's been in England squads this season but when Hull waved a few more thousand he went running - to a team further down in the league and in freefall.

rover6 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Work it out. Players talk to each other and the "big club" mob would have told Bentley to get away from little old Blackburn Rovers. Hope the horrible git is feeling sick as a proverbial parrot today.. There is undoubtedly something in that. However, it is also true that playing regularly for a big or media-loved club boosts a player's chances of becoming an England regular (whether fairly or not). I can't seriously get upset with Bentley because, as I continually remind myself, football is a business, the players are employees. However, I did find it pathetic that Bentley revealed how "obsessed" he became with the move. Seriously, Dave, you may have a bundle of Spurs' supporting friends, you may be a London lad but this is Tottenham, Newcastle of the South - not Real Madrid, Man U or Arsenal.
Billy Castell Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 As a player, I would have him back asap. As a man, or boy, I would never like him back. He has been an arrogant, unprofessional, ungrateful tool in the way he got his move. For being such a lesser person, he deserves to stay at his 'big club' and go down.
philipl Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Bentley drop kicked the wrong object off the sixth floor roof into the skip across the road. He booted a football when in reality he should have booted his agent. An agent who cost him broadly £700K in lost wages at Rovers by not signing the contract last January, ...will cost him an additional £1.5m in smaller wages through signing for Spurs rather than wages ...took him to a club where he has got dropped and is generally despised by the new boss ...and will not qualify for Europe ...lost him his England place ...and want to dump him in the next window.
jim mk2 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 ...took him to a club where he has got dropped and is generally despised by the new boss Evidence please ? Arry has often been quoted as saying he is a Bentley fan, unless you think Arry speaks with forked tongue.
gumboots Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Evidence please ? Arry has often been quoted as saying he is a Bentley fan, unless you think Arry speaks with forked tongue. And you think he doesn't?????!!! He'd say anything if it suited him at the time.
philipl Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I am not going to give you any evidence jim but Spurs are actively looking for a buyer. The price including what they would have to pay to Rovers on the balance is too steep to generate interest for what is now yet another failed Spurs reserve midfielder.
philipl Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Ooooohhhhh, spill spill. I have spilt, just not sourcing.

Missing the point : I'm not disputing Spurs might want to sell but asked you to provide evidence that Redknapp "despises" Bentley.
philipl Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Missing the point : I'm not disputing Spurs might want to sell but asked you to provide evidence that Redknapp "despises" Bentley. Sorry not going to play. But usually there is only one gobby cocky person in Redknapp set-ups and that is the manager himself.
LeChuck Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 He's not being helped by the awesome form of Aaron Lennon. I wonder where those people are now that suggested he wouldn't be good enough for our right wing?
philipl Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 He's not being helped by the awesome form of Aaron Lennon. I wonder where those people are now that suggested he wouldn't be good enough for our right wing? I'm still here and Lennon's final ball is still a random lottery number.
Eddie Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 His final delivery isn't great, but his pace means that he gets more balls in, so it probably balances out.
jim mk2 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 He's not being helped by the awesome form of Aaron Lennon. I wonder where those people are now that suggested he wouldn't be good enough for our right wing? Tottenham signing Bentley has motivated Lennon to improve, so they have gained in that respect. I said last summer Rovers should insist that Lennon was part of the deal : they wanted our player so we should have refused to let Bentley go unless they let us have Lennon as a replacement. Perhaps the club learnt its lesson with Santa Cruz.
OscarRaven Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I have spilt, just not sourcing. Which is the same as saying my best mates, uncles, sisters, sons, dog said..... For those of you who like the inside track: My best mates, uncles, sisters, sons, dog said..... Jason Roberts was today sent to see an eye specialist regarding his inabilty to hit a barn door from 6 yards out. He also spent 3 hours in shooting training, unfortunatley he still insists on toe-poking balls and had a shot accuracy of 13.2% from 6 yards.

Bullard's been in England squads this season but when Hull waved a few more thousand he went running - to a team further down in the league and in freefall. Would that not be limping or hopping to another team?
Fylde Coast Fan Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I still wouldn't have Lennon. He beat Evra time and time again on Sunday and time and time again rolled it along the ground to the near post centre half. It's not just that his final ball is wayward, he physically cannot cross. Up in the air, in the general direction of the box - that's a cross. He tries to get to the byline and pull it back along the ground - great if you and your team mate have got up there on the counter, not great if there's three opposition players waiting in the box.

RoyRover Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Just straight to the point: Why did you choose to ruin a promising career David ?............... "Gotta move on innit, gotta progress, play in Europe innit, win trophies, top team innit, gotta play for England innit." That's why apparently. BCC gossip column reporting that Bentley would be very keen on a move to Aston Villa! What a surprise, Spurs didn't work out quite like you imagine.
