pleasure Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Firstly it isn't starting and secondly even if we do lose on Saturday we are not back in it by a long stretch. Stop being a drama queen. amazing comments, MR E. feeds gone, missed mccarthy's header. shev's been subbed. he couldve had 7!

jim mk2 Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 What a load of crap. Can't remember the last time we won a night match in London.
AggyBlue Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Well, we tried to out football them but weren't good enough.
AlanK Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 at least we had a go. we may have been stuffed if we had just gone to defend. centre mid looks fragile without savage
ihateburnley Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Oh well. Its only Chelsea I suppose. It's sort of a lose-banker.
pleasure Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 we should take the positives. we played some nice possession football and nelsen's got 90mins in. henchoz was poor. zurab shouldve played.
Exiled in Toronto Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Not sure what Hughes did with the first substitution, we were certainly a lot worse after it than before it. Disappointed with Bentley and Benni today, but thought MGP and Warnock did well. Also quite liked watching Gally. But hey ho, it could've been ten.
G Somerset Rover Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Apart from the sound of Nonda's comical effort did we have any real chances? I'm not sure if I can cringe through football first watching smug Jose and the boys.
AndyH16 Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 I managed to watch the game and we did manage to attack but I'm struggling to remember a shot on goal, apart from at the end. Warnock and Pedersen linked up well at times and Warnock had a great run into the box in the first half, shame Essien got to him. Jeffers and Nonda were useless, Derbyshire ran his heart out again and McCarthy although frustrating at times held the ball up well at times. Tugay's usual passing was a bit off too.
pleasure Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Apart from the sound of Nonda's comical effort did we have any real chances? I'm not sure if I can cringe through football first watching smug Jose and the boys. nelsen header, cleared off the line in the 1st couple of mins. 2 mccarthy headers,1 wide 1 saved. a last-ditch essien tackle. derbs'1 off the line and nonda's party-piece.
Paul Mellelieu Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Saw the second half and we did OK but no better. Plusses were Warnock and Nelsen. Was Zurab injured?
Bobby G Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Decent performance. We have played far far worse this season and this was against the champions. I thought that we kept possession well in general and created chances but at this level you cant miss chances against the champions and expect to get something out of it. If Chelsea took their chances they could have won by 5 or 6 easily. Positives: Warnocks first half display, Tugay yet again the master, Nelsen was good overall, but still rusty. Negatives: Emerton was poor in my eyes, lack of central midfield partner for Tugay, Our poor finishing.
Ewood Spark Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 What a load of crap. Can't remember the last time we won a night match in London. Carling Cup last year at the valley 3-2.
krislu Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 We were good in the first half, should have had a penalty and Chelsea should have had 1 man sent off. In the second half we were poor imo. Positives: Warnock seems like a real quality player. Nelsen getting 90 minutes and looking good. Negatives: Emerton and Henchoz were all over the place. Every attack from chelsea came on our right side. Gallagher, perhaps the worst performance of the season by any rovers player. Wasn't involved at all and once he got the ball he gave it away in a second. Graham Poll for not giving us a penalty!
3recurring Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Was Zurab injured? I don't think so. According to 5 Live, he was simply rested for this game.
1864roverite Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 just managed to catch last 25 mins on the radio but gather Rovers had a good showing performance wise except Henchoz ! Rovers musnt lose sleep over this loss, its a much biger game on Saturday. Now then...... wheres that midfielder going to come from ?
Shevchenko Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Also quite liked watching Gally. Doing what exactly? He was absolute rubbish.
Bobby G Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 We missed Zurab and I reckon he must have been a booking away from a suspension or something, plus Henchoz didnt look fully fit, and was slower than ever.
