John Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 So many posts/threads, not sure if this has been pointed out: According to the player’s agent Leon Lambert, the signing of Samba is Hughes’ main signing priority ahead of the summer’s transfer activity at his new club.
rover6 Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 God, this just gets more and more depressing. We need a link to the Samaritans on sticky.
cn174 Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Look on the bright side, at least Ooijer would get to play more (if he stays that is)
Exiled_Rover Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Look on the bright side, at least Ooijer would get to play more (if he stays that is) Aye if we get decent money for him he can go. Nelson and Ooijer are better defenders, and Zurab isn't too far behind. £4m is not a decent enough fee however.
S15 Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 The bright side?? The bright side is Samba might be leaving.. IN EXCHANGE FOR MONEY!!
Roversider Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 God, this just gets more and more depressing. We need a link to the Samaritans on sticky. Just remember that Rovers, for once, have all the players under reasonably long contracts, hence John Williams comments about not planning to sell anyone or having to. Nowt will happen before a new manager arrives. Its the usual agent talk.

Remember this: OOIJER SEEKS BLACKBURN EXIT Could have nearly half a new team this season, exciting times...
allanncd Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 A rather worrying comment bt the slimy agent that "HE CAN LEAVE FOR £4M". Surely not another dreaded let-out clause?
Hughesy Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 £4m is not enough. Hope he doesnt have a release clause in his contract!!
S15 Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Go on Hughesey, how much is he worth? Gimme some other centre backs and tell me there fees, and then tell me Samba shouldn't be sold for less than £12m or something. He's turd btw.
Dunnfc Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Richard Dunne - 6 million Joseph Yobo - 6 million Micah Richards - 20 million Joleon Lescott - 8-10 million Michael Dawson - 5 million Gary Cahill - 5.5 million Curtis Davies - 10 million So how is Samba only worth 4 million?
S15 Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Because every player you've just listed is better than him.
frosty Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Keep Samba, he is still very young for a centre back and has already shown how good he can play, even if his form at the back end of last season was shaky.
gumboots Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Agents will say anything though especially at this time of year when they are testing out the waters to see if anyone bites. Nobody will talk to City or anyone else until htere's a manager in place.
American Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 The bright side?? The bright side is Samba might be leaving.. IN EXCHANGE FOR MONEY!! And not going to Portsmouth!! (Sorry, couldn't resist!)
daveoftherovers Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I hope he stays, I hope The Admiral has a word ! We can't allow our core to be ripped out, I know it's silly season but it appears this year is open season ! The better quality manager we get in the more likely our class players (And I include Big Chris in that category) are likely to stay, I thought he was a great player for us last year overall, okay, a few dodgy games at the end, but what about the goals at Notlob & Spuds?
rover6 Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I know Samba's former really dipped but he has the attributes to become a top notch defender. He is technically quite good and of course, he has the physical attributes. The only doubts are whether he has the mental concentration. Yobo turned up at Everton and did a bit of Samba - in terms of doing marvellously and earning rave reviews. Everton ended up forking out £5 million for him and then soon after the move became permanent, his form trailed off badly and he lost his place in the team. However, that was merely a dip in form and as far as I know, Yobo is back to performing strongly. Samba could follow a similar path. Besides, Samba's stock is high (I don't think non-Rovers people really know about his loss in form), so I reckon and would hope we could wring more than £4 million from City for him, if it comes to that.
philipl Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Seeing as Sparky believes he has gone to Citeh to spend £65m, only offering us £4m of it seems pretty stingy.
RevidgeBlue Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Not selling Samba this summer should be one of our priorities when the new man eventually arrives. Along with RSC.
BuckyRover Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 What if Hughes has slipped really small release fees into every players contract and he is now going to just buy them all? ouch!
Hughesy Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I agree. Also after watching the Dutch, we could do with keeping Ooijer too. Not selling Samba this summer should be one of our priorities when the new man eventually arrives. Along with RSC.
Bobby G Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 When his agent says 4 million, I have a sneaky feeling it might be referring to a release clause.
philipl Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 JW has said in the past there were no release clauses in players' contracts THIS SUMMER. It is more likely the sum Citeh are believed to be OK about paying, Dunne is reported to have been offered a £50K a week contract at Citeh.
