LeChuck Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 I've been trying to find a cheap external hard drive and I came across something I didn't know existed...external hard drive enclosures. Are these any good...i.e. as good as normal external hard drives? I'll have a spare 80gb internal IDE hard drive soon, I'd be saving myself a lot of money if I can just use that instead of buying a proper external hard drive. Edit: I assume I would need a 3.5" one, am I correct?

Flopsy Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 no idea what size you need - however they're fairly cheap and seem to work fairly well. But you can get this http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.aspx?Quick...54832&InMerch=1 from Dabs. Its £15 and to be fair if it doesnt work its not the end of the world, unless it wipes ALL your porn. Then its a disaster
PABBY Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 If you intend to leave the external drive online for any period of time, buy an enclosure that includes a cooling fan. You'll pay a bit more for it, but it'll be cheaper than eventually having to buy a new disk.
