Even after the result yesterday I am still confident that we will be playing in Europe next season. If ManUre beat Watford in the semis it will mean either we will qualify for europe or if we finish in the top eight we will qualify for either the UEFA Cup or the Intertoto cup. With our run in I can see us picking up 3 points in all the games except Tottenham and possibly Newcastle. I can see both Portsmouth and Reading not picking up too many more points.

Next weekend is extremely important. Whilst we are playing Villa alot of the teams around us have tricky games.

And I wil have three pints of what your drinking Jordan !!!

Rovers have to settle down and HAVE to beat Villa on Saturday to keep alive hopes of a top 7 finish.

We can hope that Chelsea have a lot to do in the two weeks before the semi final.

they play Valencia at home on Wednesday

they play Spuds at home Saturday lunchtime

they then play the second leg in Champions League following Wednesday then its Old Trafford for the semi.

Lets hope and pray the dont suffer any sort of injury to mssrs Terry, Lampard and Essien as well as Cech, Cole and Shevchenko !

Whatever happens, on 15th April 2007 ROVERS will have to perform for 90 minutes as Watford found out to their loss on Saturday evening.

If Everton win tomorrow then realistically eighth will be the best we can expect to finish. If we play well then 54/55 points is likely. Bolton, Spurs and Everton will most likely finish ahead of that. We just don't seem to be consistent enough to actually win more than half the games and have been stop-starting all season. Like to be proved wrong.

The match against Villa is crucial.

FLB sums it up well.

We have just never got going this season. I have never been convinced by our level of performances. Even our good run over Xmas did not provide a good level of performances. It has been very much stop/start.

In flashes we have looked a good team but that is all. Watching Spurs recently has shown that they possess a lot more quality than us. Hence why they will finish in the top 6 and we won't.

Of course there are reasons behind the above, such as injuries and playing more matches etc.

It's exciting times for us all if you think about it.

Our season rests on the next two games. Win the semi and we are in Europe. Beat Villa and we are back in the hunt for Intertoto at least.

If we manage to beat Villa I am convinced that will mean a top half finish minimum.

Lose both games and we may as well start packing for our summer holidays.

With the fixture rearrangements, Rovers have an interesting run coming up-

Villa H

Watford H

Fulham A

Charlton H

This at a time when most of the clubs around us will be playing more games than us- they are running up against Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool in the coming fixtures as well.

IF we get 10 or 12 points from those games we could be sitting pretty in 7th or 8th on 50 or 52 points ahead of the last week trio of Newcastle A, Spurs A and Reading H.

Europe through Premiership League position is still within grasp if we can get the oomph to play low ranking teams the way we should.

Despite three consecutive defeats, European qualification for Rovers still looks very much on after yesterday's games.

It is in our own hands-

It seems reasonable to assume Man U will beat Watford (but could be a much tougher scrap than most expect) so Rovers v Chelsea is a one-off European qualification cup final.

Assuming we lose then 5th, 6th and 7th go into the Uefa Cup. (Even if Spurs win the Uefa Cup, they are in one of those places so Premiership qualification does not get reduced by the Uefa Cup holders defending their crown).

And 8th goes Intertoto the Intertoto.

Rovers have a game in hand over Newcastle (one place above us) and a must not lose fixture at St James' Park- that is in our own hands to over take them

Rovers have a game in hand and a must win fixture at home to Reading- that is in our own hands to overtake them

Watford did us an enormous favour beating Pompey. If Pompey win their remaining fixtures, we cannot get above them but their run in is Villa, Newcastle, Liverpool, Everton and Arsenal.

You have to assume that if Rovers get their end of season run of good results going again, 8th is there for the taking. That looks a big IF at the moment.
