Friedel and Rovers lucky ; looked a penalty to me .

Emerton completely missed a header ; man's a liabilty .

Emerton just brought down Ljungberg ; another pen !

Free header ; Arsenal could be 3 up !

Neutral comment : Rovers just entered the Arsenal half for the first time in 10 mins

Gone quiet now haven't you eh? Backed the wrong horse eh cock? You must be well p1ssed off now. I'm sure that the Rovers are well sorry for knocking the arse out of your big club adulation tonight. :wstu:

btw .... I see you are not at the match again! Backslider.

After seeing the replay on the telly folks in my opinion we got lucky with the penalty claims....VERY lucky!!

There is a god! :rover:

On the ground I thought we were very lucky to survive both claims. However I've since filicked through the video and am not entirely convinced.

The first one, if you watch from the camera behind the goal Brad gets a very very slight flick on the ball. I do mean slight but hell, if he touches it it can't be a penalty, whether the Arsenal player runs into Brads hand or not.

For the second the contact is outside the area. Ljunberg waits till he gets in the box and then starts to go down when Emerton trmaples the back of his legs. Unlucky.

To be honest had it been the other way round I'd have been moaning like hell but people keep saying it's swings and roundabouts so hey, S**t happens.

Having watched Sky, you'd have thought that Arsenal created 10 clear cut chances that Baptista had missed and completely dominated. Apart from the first half header I cant recall any other clear chances. All of the others were from 30 yars or they cocked up and failed to get a shot in due to bad control. There were only two real chances in the game, the aforementioned header and MGP's blaze into orbit from 8 yards.

Started the first half well but slowly got outclassed. Should have conceeded a pen.

Started the second half poorly but got better. Subs made a difference. McCarthy's goal a real gem. Both Tugay and Dunn could easily have been sent off. Graham Poll was inept all game.

Samba was ace. Mokoena did well again. Bentley provided most of our moments of quality. Tugay was poor.

Who cares though? We're in the last 8 of the FA Cup with a home quarter final tie to come against a team lower in the league that us.

Could be a great season.

After the 'Bambi on Ice' introduction at Luton Samba is beginning to look another real find. I loved the way he completely bounced 'The Beast' off the ball in the first half aswell. Another good game by the axe too.

What an incredible evening that was! Just got back to uni here in Stoke, delighted with our victory! What a goal from Benni, he really is the man that touch of class up front! Absoultly superb celebrations in the bbe lower when the goal went in, we were jumping around like crazy motherf****rs :brfc: Pretty even game imo, arse didnt really create much and neither did we, but hey this win means a hellova lot after the league defeats.

Finally a mention to the arse fans. Although they came in real numbers (credit to them for that fair play), the noise they made was pathetic. Imagine if Rovers had taken 4,500 to a game, the kinda atmosphere we would have created, compared to arse feeble efforts. 4,500 away fans should be outsinging 15k home fans comfortably, instead it was the other way round! Bring on City for hopefully a really big crowd and fantastic day! :rover:

I said after the first leg at the Emirates that this might be the year when our name is on the Cup after Warnock chopped Aliadiere down and no penalty was given.

I thought the same when Emerton transgressed in serious fashion in the first half tonight.

A win over 180 minutes over Arsenal is probably the best performance we've had since we returned to the Premiership and just shows what a good job Mark Hughes and his coaching staff are doing.

Samba was awesome again - better renegotiate his contract immediately.

Dunn - when he came on - superb - what a transformation from Sunday.

Nonda - rubbish - much more effort needed

McCarthy - superb winner but if your goal "celebration" was directed at the manager you're way off. The manager was quite right to drop you and he got the right response.

Absolutely made up, FA Cup over Uefa any day.

Having done the seemingly hard part, please don't blow it by losing against City.

Uncle Jack always wanted to win the FA Cup. :rover:

Good win nervy, edgy and not too pretty. Great goal and a great pass from Dunny, good eye he dropped it in the right place with Benni in plenty of room. I agree with above don't cock it up against Citeh. Warnock was off tonight I thought. Again I must complain about the amount of holding and pushing the big teams are allowed to get away with. Good old fashioned shoulder charge by Nonda get's punished though. Biggest laugh was Freddie Lumbergs third penalty claim he tried to shouder Samba off the ball and just bounced off him then wanted a pen. I almost died laughing.

What a result!

Another night that makes me proud to be a Blackburn Rovers supporter.

The BBE end went crazy when the goal went in - even had a pitch invasion at the end!

Special mentions:

Chris Samba - a massive performance, so strong & confident

The Axe - By a million miles his best game in a Rovers shirt. He created loads for us and broke up so much play.

Thanks again Rovers - bring on Citeh

I was anooyed at this at first because I thought it was aimed at the manager but he said after the match that he was talking to Roberts before he came on and they agreed which ever one of them came on and scored that they would run over and sit next to them on the bench however, when benni ran over, Roberts was already off the bench jumping up and down.

My head is banging this morning. Drinking on a school night is not good

Morning after the night before and it still feels sweet.

Unless we make the mistake of thinking the next fixture is a formality, beating Man City in the next round shouldn't be difficult after this.

After that? Who knows? Maybe Arsenal were being given an easy route to the final by the heated FACup draw balls and we've messed things up for them.

If we get to the final and even if we lose to one of the big teams still in, we still get into Europe.

Who needs the intertoto?! ;):rover:

Did anyone notice the Arsenal fans outside McDonalds after the game last night? They pulled out in their car amidst all the rovers fans walking up Livesey, only to turn right down the one way street with half of the Blackburn end walking towards them. Safe to say they didnt look happy about it and got their knickers in a right old twist.

Overall what a night. Watched here in the English pub where I was the only Rovers fan. Quite a lot of non-English Gunners so it was super sweet when McCarthy stuck it in. Even the guys I dragged in the pub enjoyed it as they got chatting to some German girls so everybody happy!

I didn't think either team played well, although the work rate and defending was good from both sides. Arsenal can moan all they want about lady luck and refs. In the end they had one good penalty claim (in which the foul was committed outside the area) and missed one good chance with Baptista's header, although he must have seen it late. Second half they did nothing and as the game went on we were the team pushing more for the winner. Cue the managers' substiutions and you can see which one got it right. Over the 2 legs it was Hughes, not Wenger, who made the better decisions.

Special praise to Samba, Nelson, The Axe, Dunny and Derbs who just never stops running. Who cares about Benni's goal celebrations. He, along with the rest of the Rovers staff and players, looked very happy indeed.

Let's enjoy it. Roll on Bolton, there's 3 points up for grabs there. Think about the city game when the time comes.

I'm still on a high after that result. A very special goal by McCarthy capped off a solid, battling display. Samba in particular was brilliant. Arsenal dominated most of the possession but only really troubled Friedel twice. Their appeals for penalties were not as cast-iron as they made out. Aliadiere dived for the first one and then Ljungberg was fouled (no doubt about that) outside the box.
