Looking at the replays, my instinct last night was that Friedel's challenge on Aliadiere and Emerton's tussle with Ljungberg were both clear penalties and having seen them again I still believe that to be the case. If they had been our penalty claims we would have been accusing Poll of big-club bias.

Well done to Friedel though for conning Poll into thinking Aliadiere was at fault. As for Emerton, his limitations as a defender were sorely exposed last night. We need a new specialist right back next season.

i think you are being unfair on Emerton, how many bad games has he played this season? i think he has slotted into right back quite well, ok he did not have one of his best of games last night, but they were a few others as well

wenger's excuses were side-splitting. he blamed our pitch, poll, and the fact that the Wednesday has a 'y' in it! he's THE worst loser in football.

it wouldn't be just, due to how they play the game, but they might end the season pot-less. I'm sure ooijer will give his mate some pointers as to how they can frustrate them.

I thought the atmosphere was great. especially as there were only 16,000 home fans there.

we look a solid unit at the back, and 4 clean sheets on the bounce is testament to how well warnock and samba are performing.

benni's goal and celebration were up there with the best I've seen. the finish was very henry-like.

his bench-warming session seems to have given him the kick up the arse that he needed.

overall we had the better chances, and arse never really looked like they were gonna score.

we played at the higher tempo and arsenal wanted to break-up the play and time-waste (played the 'bolton' and everton way!)

this might be our year. here's hoping man utd and chelski are dumped out, rovers beat citeh and then draw plymouth in the semi!

that said, we can beat anyone on our day/ or use 'operation Emirates' -frustrate them and beat them on penalties.

this could be our year.

great result last night, dull game but i don't care

Wasn't dull in the BBE. The place was rockin'. Esp the last 15 min when everyone seemed to be stood up, bouncing around. I think we lifted the players for that terrific finale

i didn't say it was dull athmosphere, just the game wasn't the best apart from the last 10 minutes.

Last night, wow the highlight of the season so far for me, at least the last ten minutes were. An ordinary game lit up by Chris Samba-this is some player, remember he is only 22 as well, bargain of the window, and Benni when he remembered why he was on the pitch. I sit in the JW upper, in line with the goal line, and have seen some great goals this season from both Benni and the MGP, but for drama, impact and sheer relief this was the finest moment. All the frustration of last Thursdays match against the Germans and 86 minutes again last night was lifted by the scorcher from McCarthy.

Couple of things that struck me.

Amazing turnout from Arsenal fans, must be from the north most of them as a 400 mile round trip to Ewood on a wet Wednesday in Feb does not exactly come high on most peoples lists of fun days out.

And the remarkable similarity to the cup run of 2 years ago, including a late winner in the 5th round replay at Ewood that was smashed into the net. Uncanny.

Lot of smiley faces as I left the ground last night, roll on Sunday.

Neutral Venue to be decided - for that read cardiff... But theres still a chance that say we get Boro that we play at Old Trafford.

There are plenty of bigger venues to chose from now though. If we were to through and get Man U surely the new ground at Man City would be the ideal venue. That holds 50,000+ doesn't it.

I know the Millenium is on stanby for the final but surely they would have to have been pre-booked and on standby for the semi's too. Semis at Cardiff would dampen the the occasion a bit for me. Hope they're not there.

We have to beat City yet. It's not a gimme.

Walked past the Darwen End 10-15 mins before kick off and there was just the Arsenal team coach on the coach park and maybe one more. The bulk of the Arsenal fans must have been paper readers from the north looking to take in their one game a year.

Great atmosphere in the Bburn End especially last quarter of an hour. There should be an unwritten rule for everyone to stand and sing for the last 15 mins. it could catch on..... :rover:

Let's not take City for granted though we have a good record against them lately.

Blackburn is still capable of complacency after beating a top club like arsenal.

But I'm confident Hughes will address this way before it happens.

And when was the last time a win for us sparked a mini pitch invasion!

That mini-pitch invasion meant that a lot of the players quickly shot down the tunnel which was a shame. Did we really see it as that big of a scalp that we had to run on the pitch.

On the other side of the coin, anyone see the 'not-very-mobile' steward trying flat out to chase the lad who was running back towards the Blackburn End.

he was a fat ambulence man?

As he turned his back on the BBE, they gave him 'you fat bast*rd'.

He then spun round to glare at the crowd, cockily walking towards them as if he was going to take on the whole stand. Ha ha, what a prat. I was praying he was going to climb in.

The (please don't use that ###### word again) number of arsenal (please don't use that ###### word again) (please don't use that ###### word again)(please don't use that ###### word again) fans that have been moaning about their (please don't use that ###### word again) weakened (please don't use that ###### word again) side being the only (please don't use that ###### word again) reason why they were (please don't use that ###### word again) beaten last night by Backburn (please don't use that ###### word again) Rovers. Don't (please don't use that ###### word again) make me (please don't use that ###### word again) laugh! Oops! Too Late...

And by the way... I didn't use one single (please don't use that ###### word again) bad word in my message

I suppose you think that makes you big. It doesn't- just like those idiots who invaded the pitch last night were neither big nor clever- and could result in trouble for us. I personally hope they do fine and ban them- and preferably report them to the police so that they get a hooligan order so that they can never disgrace the club again.

And about the Arsenal fans- I'll confirm they didn't seem to be from London. My journey back was devoid of hoards of them and there weren't many cars on the road at all.
