Exiled_Rover Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 It's a pen, but it's still a dive. I think that's what the ref saw - the dive.

Exiled_Rover Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Jeez, how many does that place hold - it looks empty on tv, but the announcer reckons 56k are there.
James No. 7 Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Arsenal almost got a goal, thanks to a handball. I picked it up before the replay.
thenodrog Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 double save from Friedel! You missed out the word 'Superb'!
stuwilky Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 You missed out the word 'Superb'! Somehow Gordo, that doesnt quite cover it.
James No. 7 Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 I hate this crowd. They've been baying for blood (from the referee) all game.
James No. 7 Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Arsene time. That was disgusting. Anyway, haha to the Arsenal!
Paul Mellelieu Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Well done Rovers! A quick mention to the Axe who did very well in protecting the back four.
herbergeehh Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 DIRE! Good result though. Dunn ran around a lot, Samba impressive in defence and Mokoena put his foot in.
bluewhitearmy Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Good result in the end. lets hope we can beat them at ewood. great saves near the end from friedel and derbbyshire was unlucky with his shot when he came on.
Mr. E Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Fantastic performance. Heroic effort, heroic result, well done to everyone today. One of the upsets of the season, despite the referee's best efforts to bring the win to the Gunners. oh and Brad was once again Superman, what a legend.
Finch Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Hate to say it but this reminds me of a game at Highbury a few seasons ago where we contained them for 45 mins and went into the break encouraged at 0-0, only to see them step up a gear in the 2nd half and put 3 past us. *chomp chomp* (eats own words)
stuwilky Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Well done Rovers! A quick mention to the Axe who did very well in protecting the back four. He did. His distribution is infuriating however.
Lathund Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Samba really impressed me today, hardly put a foot wrong. With another ref he'd have conceded quite a few free kicks though.
Billinge End Blue Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Great draw just now – Tugay’s been working with Dunnie on his substitutions! As for Brad and his acrobatic saves - what a superb player
Exiled_Rover Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Mokoena's good in a midfield five. Always has been. Pretty happy with the performance and the result. We looked very solid defensively, for the first time in a while. I'd be happy to play like that away from Ewood for the rest of the season if it picks up the vital points we need (bearing in mind we're still not technically safe). Especially considering the ridiculous amount of injuries we have. I'm disgusted with the amount of bookings we picked up, again. The majority were for nothing fouls - no more cynical than L'arse were all day, yet we get punished for it.
Exiled in Toronto Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 He did. His distribution is infuriating however. Bentley and Dunn hit more wayward passes than the Axe. I though he did well considering. Excellent defensive performance today. Brad had nothing to do apart form that double save at the end. I have to say I do like that Samba bloke.
stuwilky Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Bentley and Dunn hit more wayward passes than the Axe. I though he did well considering. I quite agree EiT, Bentley simply isnt the player he can be when he is played in the middle, I understand why he was played there, but he struggled all match.
Shevchenko Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Can't remember seeing us as compact and disciplined in defense for a long time. Impressed with Samba, he looked the part today and if he keeps that up he'll form a strong partnership with Nelsen in the center of defense. I was surprised Dunn lasted for 90 minutes too considering the amount of closing down he did. If Nonda had put even half of Dunn's effort into it we might have been doing something up front as well.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Well done the Rovers, cant ask for any more from that gritty performance.
RevidgeBlue Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 This ref is giving us nothing. We should have had one or two free kicks that weren't given, but overall I thought the ref had a good game, always looking to let the game flow where possible. However we were incredibly lucky when Warnock conceded what should have been a nailed on penalty. The ref was only about 5 yards away looking straight at it, but unbelievably waved it away! Delighted with that result, it should be a real confidence fillip for Thursday evening. The Cup double is still on! Don't know if I'm in two minds as to whether our best chance went today. Never seen Arse as lethargic, they only woke up after 83 mins. Great to see Derbyshire back, at least we looked a bit more credible going forward when he came on. Very solid defensively for 80 minutes after that Friedel's save and subsequent double save were unbelievable, as good as I've seen. I know Nonda had his work cut out playing up front on his own and all but he barely broke sweat - is that meant to be him playing for a contract? - sheesh.
