I might have missed something here but we are getting new S/T then - or is that just for new ones and not renewals?

I understood it was this. Originally only new or re-located ST holders were to receive new ones, obviously necessary. When I renewed my eldest's in the BBE, just before the deadline, I was told he would receive a new one because "the plastic keeps coming off." and everyone would receive a new card. On mine the outer film is peeling away and the info, seat number etc is printed on this not the card itself.

I've also heard the cards are being renewed because of sponsorship and could not be issued until the sponsors details were known. I can't recall were I heard this or even know if it is true.

Hope your right!! Talking about the Rovers site, has anyone noticed its new format? Looks much more impressive.

If you read the equivalent thread on theRovers official site, it rather suggests sales have gone past 13,500.

I'm sure it wasn't like that at 6.00am this morning. Looks very good but not had time to wander through it.

Official press release:

SEASON TICKET SALES UP 10% AT BLACKBURN AS FANS BACK PRICE REDUCTIONS

Season ticket sales at Blackburn Rovers are up by nearly 10 per cent with less than a few weeks to go before the new Premier League campaign kicks off.

Rovers have cut the average cost of adult season tickets by 25 per cent and club officials say they are delighted with the response of supporters so far. Already sales are better than they have been for the previous two seasons and with around a thousand season ticket holders still to renew Club officials hope to have even more signed up before their first home match at Ewood Park on Sunday, August 19, against Arsenal. Rovers have used around £1 million of extra revenue generated by the new television deal to pass on savings to supporters in the form of reduced prices. The cheapest season ticket is £249, the lowest in the Premier League, while the most expensive is £399. Junior season tickets cost just £99.

Simon Williams, Head of Commercial and Marketing at Blackburn, said: “We made a bold decision to cut the cost of watching football at Ewood Park after recognising the issue of cost was one of the reasons why some fans were staying away and we have been very encouraged by the sales of season tickets so far with our first home game still a few weeks away. “There are still supporters who have not renewed their tickets and we are hopeful they will do so along with others who realise the great value we are offering to watch Premiership football.

“As well as sales increasing by ten per cent, there have been several encouraging trends in the figures including the highest proportion of adult season tickets holders for three seasons and some former season ticket holders renewing for the first time in nearly a decade. We are also seeing new fans buying season tickets.

“The Premier League is one of the strongest in the world and our new price structure takes into account the concerns of supporters about cost while doing our best to remain competitive on the pitch.”

Good news but again the population issue seems to be hitting home......ticket sales 29% up at Villa, 19% up at Fulham, similar clubs who have introduced the price initiatives but have access to larger catchement areas.

Is just a 10% increase what the club was hoping for?

Villa have been doing some major price cutting, too. The lower tier in the North stand (that bloody awful one behind the goals that us away supporters used to get) has sold out at £200 a season - £49 less than the Riverside (but a much poorer view).

Not to mention the fact that they have got rid of deadly doug.

Its also worth remembering that there percentage figures aer "on this stage" rather than "on total sales" which the Rovers are.

Come on 10 % isnt good enough chaps, it should be somewhere between 30%-50 % for a decent response, can we as fans do anything to push the figure up, i've tried and its dammed hard convincing people to come back.

I would question just how delighted Simon Williams and the rest of the board are at a 10% increase, I'm sure that is the least they would have hoped for. However, still a few weeks to go so let's see what the numbers are like at the start of the season.

If we have a good start, I think we will attract decent numbers on a match by match basis. £20 tickets will also attract huge numbers of away fans, so we should see quite a big increase in the average attendance.

if the number is 14,000 and thats a 10% increase over last years, it means last years was 12,750 or so.

with 1,000 more season ticket holders yet to renew (as was stated in the report) that could make the number 15,000.

15000 / 12750 = that could be a 17.5% increase, which isn't half bad at all, really.
