is it looking like villa park then due to yesterday's report in the mirror, and again today in the guardian?

it said both games are at villa park, depending on whether united beat boro, if not, they'd be at old trafford. emirates seems out the question with arsenal at home anyway

Whether complaing and going or not is silly depends on peoples opinions of what the future holds for Rovers. We went 45 years without making an FA Cup semi-final and it was only our upturn in fortunes with Jacks money then the Premier League money that moved us into a position to challenge seriously on this level again. As much as we don't want to even think about it, most Premier League clubs are only 1 relegation away from risking becoming a QPR or a Notts Forest.

If your Man U or Arsenal then semi-finals in this competition come around every other year. Let's not fool ourselves that that will become the norm for us. This is an FA Cup semi-final. It's quite special. The rewards for winning are even more special. If the FA send us to Lands End I will be furious, think it's an absolute joke and try and work out how they are making more money for themselves than if it had been at OT. However I'd still be making the effort to go. In 35 years time I don't want to turn round to my grandkids and say "Yes we did once get to an FA Cup semi-final but I didn't go because it was in London".

I want OT or Villa park but, wherever the venue, treat the game with the importance it deserves and make the effort.

And by doing that it will just go on and on.

If it is at Emirates I will go - but not at Cardiff- they have done it once there and screwed us big style. In addition what will they do re the National flags if it is??????????

At least this time its looking like the Final will be at a different ground (Wembley) . but from what has been reported it won't be in the future.

To a degree last time they listened but then took no notice only because IMUSA where making big issue of it.

There has been many a discussion on here about what is wrong with the game - this could well end up another note to the list.

Just off the phone to the FA again this morning and actually got through. Here is the general topic of the conversation:-

I asked them when was the venue being decided for the Semi-finals?

It isn't confirmed yet and when it is, then all information we be uploaded onto our website.

But when will that take place?

I don't know sir, but as soon as it's confirmed we will have it advertised.

Are you holding off until after the replays to confirm the venue?

I'm sorry sir, but I don't know this.

So can you please tell me what explanation is being given for the delay in choosing the venues? (It's actually four full days after the draw has taken place and is four weeks away from the scheduled date)!!

It takes a lot of organising to select a venue and as soon as this is sorted then we will announce this.

But can you confirm to me that you are not holding off until after the replays?

.....pause.

Something along the lines of 'I don't believe this is the case', but we will announce details as soon as theyare confirmed.

Just spoke to someone. She told me that she expects the venues to be announced after the replays and not before.

She didn't know anymore than that only that she expects it to be a Man U v Chelsea final "one way or another sunshine".

Absolutely. There was a boycott of sorts last semi final. The result? Pundits slated our "crap support". If there's a boycott of sorts this time - same thing.

If anyone thinks that FA Cup semi finals grow on trees for anyone outside the 4 clubs who have dominated the FA Cup for the last 10 years, they are fooling themselves. This might the last chances to see Rovers play an FA Cup semi-final in any of our lifetimes!

Ahhh ..bet the FA are "warming -up" the referees even as they ponderously stagger to a decision on who can play at Vile Park!

Something strange must be going on, working with a West Ham fan he told me it wasn't long after the semi-final draw last season that the venue's were announced.

So I thought I'd have a look, and from their news archives the timeline as follows:-

24/3/06 12:57 Opponents announced.

24/3/06 15:01 Announcement about ticket proceedures.

24/3/06 17:53 Venue and date announced.

26/3/06 14:12 Ticket details released.

and their opponents were not decided then either Charlton or Middlesborough (match been played on 12/4).

Yeah but the replays have obviously messed things up as they don't know if Old Trafford will be available or not.

It all seems to suggest that if United win through then Old Trafford will be one of the venues and the delay seems to suggest that the semi-finals have not been fully decided upon yet.

E-MAIL NOW SENT:-

Hi Sharon,

I trust that this e-mail finds you well. I'm sure this correspondance has probably arrived to the wrong person, but would be extremely grateful if you could forward it onto the relevant personnell, as this was the only e-mail address that was listed from the official web-site.

Anyhow, with relation to the e-mail. I would appreciate it if you or someone else could confirm to me and the rest of the despairing supporters as to when the venues are going to be decided for this season's FA Cup semi-finals? Four days have passed since the draw and with it only four weeks away from the scheduled dates I feel that it is nothing short of disgraceful that it's taking so long to confirm a venue/venues. There are two teams already confirmed with another team from London guaranteed to make the 3rd place listing of the four teams.

Can someone please answer this question. Why is it taking so long to select a venue/s? I am the chairman of the 'Northern Ireland Blackburn Rovers Supporters Association', and I have to answer questions from my members and this is certainly a brick wall that I am banging my head against. We have to organise travel (flights) and with our long distance we have to sort out at least one nights accommodation and feel this is nothing short of unsatisfactory. We have never had an explanation for this and is it coming to a stage that fans from smaller clubs mean that little be less to the FA?

Is it that you are waiting until the 'two big teams' are through from their replays and look at making the most financially from this? What other explanation do you have for this. My members, supporters from Blackburn (possibly Watford as well), myself feel let down 150% over the debacle with regards to the selection of venues for this season's FA Cup Semi-finals!

I look forward with much anticipation to an answer to my e-mail, so that we can look forward to an enjoyable weekend to watch our beloved team, even if the reult doesn't go our way. You can contact me via e-mail or indeed by phone on (078) **** ****. Your assistance in anyway will be much appreciated.

Regards,

Simon Gray.

Yeah but the replays have obviously messed things up as they don't know if Old Trafford will be available or not.

Presumably it's irrelevant whether United win or not for our game with Chelsea/Spurs? Why don't they just say:

Rovers vs Chelsea/Spurs - Old Trafford

Watford vs United/Boro - Villa Park

This covers all eventualities and would allow the clubs to crack on with organising ticket details.

Just for info this was Charlton's semi at VP last season:

Should the Addicks emerge triumphant on Wednesday night, Charlton would receive an allocation of 18,464 tickets in the Holte End and in the Doug Ellis Stand at Villa Park for the semi-final against West Ham United on Sunday, April 23rd (4pm - live on Sky).

Tickets are priced £55 (centre sections of the Doug Ellis Stand), £45 (non-centre sections of the Doug Ellis Stand and centre sections of the Holte End) and £35 (rear sections of the Holte End).

There are no concessions, but there are a limited number of family tickets in the front section of the Holte End, priced £25 adults and £12.50 U16s and over 60s.

Any chance of you resurrecting the coach idea for the semi final? I for one, plus my honchos would be very interested.

PS. Like the badges - do you sell the Feyenoord one seperately? Its for my pal in Holland

:rover: selling as sets only at first then i think seperatley :brfc:

Only Rovers fans could turn making it to the Cup semi-final in to this much of a whinge fest.

Can't we just bask in the glory of making it this far, wait for the announcement, then move Heaven and Earth to get there?

The way you lot are going on you'd think we were staring relegation in the face.

Perspective kids, please. This is madness.

We're all being very spoilt now aren't we?

My friend and I moved heaven and earth to get to Cardiff for the Worthy Cup final "as it's been x years since we last made a final and the age home might not run a coach for the next one"

Then there was the semi against Arse at Cardiff, which cost me 3 points on my license as I was actually on stage that night in London when it was "another one- well we really have to make the most of this"

Last year I actually missed one of the legs of the Worthy Semi-final as "well that's two years in a row"

And now it's " a semi-final" been there seen it!

Of course I'll go, but I think people are getting blase about it and don't quite realise what a big thing this is. WE ARE IN THE SEMI FINAL OF THE FA CUP. We should be jumping up and down with excitement. I bet all of the people on here who are getting upset will expect tickets to the final. And will pay it, whatever it costs. (I don't somehow think that the £20 away day will work!)
