joey_big_nose Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 There is no way Pedersen should be sold. He has won quite a few games for us and although his attacking play has not been up to much (apart from the odd moment of spectacular) he has been defensively sound. There is a long list of players who should be moved out first- Kuqi, Emerton, Gresko, Amo, Matteo. Why sell a genuine match winner before those? Unless he makes it plain he wants to go or we are offered a huge amount of money he will be here next term. All I want to see is a bit more of Peter.

yellowsubmarine Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 Same here. I will love to see Hughes playing Peter abit more till the end of the season. IF Pederson really leaves at the end of the season, at least we have someone ready. Hopefully Pederson will bring back his spectacular scoring boots next week when we face the Gunners.

Emerton is crap, quite frankly, and Bentley and Reid are wasted on the right wing. If Peter continues to showcase his ability to beat people, and put in excellent crosses then I can put up with Pedersen's drifting in and out of games. You can't deny that at times the team has carried him, only for Morten to score a screamer and win us three points. That really hurts us when Emerton, Bentley or Reid don't provide us with an attacking threat on the opposite wing.
sumps Posted February 18, 2006 Posted February 18, 2006 West Ham opening day Villa early Sept. I wont go on, but suffice to say. That statement was rubbish!! 384708 Sorry I meant when he has scored However I still think people should get off his back. He has come on miles since he first signed for us and hopefully will carry on getting better and better under Hughes, as will the rest of the team. If Pedersen wasn't scoring then people would be moaning about how we have no goals coming from midfield. I'll take Pedersen doing not much all game against Arsenal then lashing one in from the edge of the area to put us above them!
Claytons Left Boot Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 A report in today's BA (Bergen's daily newspaper) makes interesting reading. Actim Stats show which players are involved in most "decisive contribution" in the course of games. The stats cover goals, shots on goal, corners, free kicks, offsides, passing and tackles. Apparently he has a points factor of 4.63 (doesn't explain how this is calculated) and with that he is our most important player and the 25th most important in the PL. Frank Lampard tops the list closely followed by RVN, Henry, Keane and surprisingly Rio Ferdinand.
Florida Rover Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Here are some comments he made to a norwegian ? newspaper Gamst speaks
Shevchenko Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 A report in today's BA (Bergen's extremely crappy tabloid daily newspaper) makes interesting reading. 405302 Fixed that for you
Claytons Left Boot Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Fixed that for you 405391 I'll tell Bjarte!
krislu Posted May 6, 2006 Posted May 6, 2006 Fixed that for you 405391 right there, its a rubbish newspaper!
krislu Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 According to a local newspaper in Tromso Morten Gamst Pedersen will be offerd a new contact in the next week or so. It is believed that he will more than double his current wage at Rovers, from around £700k to £1.8m a year. Is he worth close to £40k a week?

I would imagine the agent would mention that Spurs would have the resources...
Presty On Tour Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 with the current wage scale at the moment with ballack, terry, rio, henry etc on well over 100k a week, 40k a week for a midfield player who scores more than 10 goals a season is a fairly good deal imo.

I don't think he's worth that much if he demands that much I think we should sell him...cos we got Sergio Peter
Oakland Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 ...off topic, but did Reid sign new contract? I wonder how much he was asking?

ihtd Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 don't think he's worth that much if he demands that much I think we should sell him...cos we got Sergio Peter Sergio Peter? The lads got talent but he is jut raw talent at the moment. it would be complete and utter madness to sell Pedersen and just say "well we have Peter". Sergio would not get us 10goals a season right now, maybe in a couple of seasons but not now. Pedersen IMO is well worth 40k a week, when you think he only came second to Lampard in terms of Prem scoring and look what money he is on. I know the comparison is pretty crap one as Pedersen isn't half the player Frank is and the fact that MGP plays out wide. Pedersen IMO should only be sold if an offer of £12+ million came in for him and i cannot see that happening.
USABlue Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Sergio Peter? The lads got talent but he is jut raw talent at the moment. In the fleeting moments he played I would have to say that RAW talent looked pretty darned good.
Tony Diamond Inc Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 In the fleeting moments he played I would have to say that RAW talent looked pretty darned good. Agreed. His raw talent often makes a mockery of MGP's refined skills!
tchocky Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 MGP had two assists in todays 2-2 draw between Norway and Paraguay. Still not good enough for some people....
krislu Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 MGP had two assists in todays 2-2 draw between Norway and Paraguay. Still not good enough for some people.... A typical Gamst performace today. His overall game was rubbish to say at least, but as always (when you have 10 + set pieces) you will hit the target a few times.
herbergeehh Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Gamst's two assists were overshadowed by the fact that Frode Johnsen scored two.. kinda' takes away the glamour for me anyway
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 I would agree that we shouldn't pay him as much as is being reported (but having said that papers do tend to add a few £'s on to help sell papers). However talk of selling is a little premature - as somebody else said - anything over £10m I would consider - however we need to consider the following :- 1. At the moment we are in a wonderful position of having a goal scoring international left sided midfield player - with a very promising youngster coming through to back him up. This gives MH the opportunity to give MGP some competition, rest him as required and also introduce Sergio at a more controlled pace to aid his development (rather than chucking in at the deep end). Remember when we lost Duff - sell MGP, Sergio gets injured and we are back to square one. 2. Selling one of our high profile players would not give out the correct message. Though I agree I don't think MGP is as good as the press would have you beleive - other people think he is - so selling woudn't help attract sponsorship, players and fans. 3. Extending his contract will protect Rovers investment - and show to the press that we aren't a selling club. It will also enable us to get top price if he continues to score high profile, spectacular goals like last season. For all his faults, lack of genuine pace etc etc - he is the IMO one of the best dead ball specialists in the Premiership, one of the top goal scoring left wingers and does work hard for the team. He isn't Duff - but we could do a lot worse.
Presty On Tour Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 2 assists for norway against paraguay, the guy is awsome, he works hard for the team, his set pieces and technique are top drawer, scores goals from midfiled, some world class immense finishes too, 40k a week and he's worth the lot.
