roversmum Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Let's face it, two assists leading to two goals - what more do you want? Gamst can only improve, he now tracks back and has made a few good defensive moves during the season. He's just finished his first full season in the Premiership - even the more hardened players needed a rest. He's still relatively young. Give the guy a break!

FourLaneBlue Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Money talks but we should make sure we keep MGP unless silly money gets thrown at us. We do, however, have the very promising Peter coming up on the rails so we wouldn't be left totally short if he left. Not like when Duff left and we ended up playing the likes of Matteo in left midfield.
Montfort Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 I am surprised at some of the "negative" comments on this thread. I don't think that some people fully realise how rare it is to have a left sided midfield player who can score 10 plus goals a season. I admire Reid and Savage but would be astounded if they scored 10 goals a season ( Not the whole story I know but hopefully you get my point). We all hope to be able to build something special at Rovers. IMO I think that Pederson could be part of that " something special ". There are alot of strikers who have difficulty scoring as many as him! Also he defends well and works hard for the team which is easily overlooked when the talk is on him beating players and charging down the wing ( or not ).

SFW Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 The cross in for Norway's first goal yesterday was superb, didn't see the second though. I think he's worth a bigger contract, although 40k a week is a bit excessive IMO.
tchocky Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 He hides, he shoots..... he signs! On until 2010. At least thats what I can gather from norwegian newspaper dagbladet. They know the wage, and the length of the contract so it appears he has signed. Great news for us. Weekly wage I think is somewhere around £30k
Oakland Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Nice to hear some good news!, after all this speculation "who's going to Spurs" stuff...
Presty On Tour Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 best news in a long while, 20k and 40k were rumours, so 30k has met in the middle and it's a well good deal for rovers till 2010. do you think there are any clauses in the contract??? ha ha
rover6 Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 I hate this business of player's demanding massive pay increases after one good season - but that is how the football world works and if we are to keep our top players we must offer the going rate. I have to say, Pedersen will probably be worth it in the grand scheme of things. Not sure about Reid.

Rainmaker Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 I didn't see the goal but surelythe guy who put it in is who we should be looking at. Oh, dear God, NO!
Backroom trueblue Posted June 9, 2006 Backroom Posted June 9, 2006 He hides, he shoots..... he signs! On until 2010. No official news on this yet though !
krislu Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 No official news on this yet though ! Well, I've seen a direct quote by MGP on the contract, so its just the official site being slow, as always.

Weekly wage I think is somewhere around £30k good work 'tchocky.' i think it's great news, on 2 fronts: 1. he's a major source of goals for us. 2. his detractors should also be pleased. the new contract will add a few million to his transfer value.
herbergeehh Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Good news this, the Norwegian papers focus mainly on the money he will earn, I suspect Grooby will be more blue-and-white in his newsarticle? I didn't see the goal but surelythe guy who put it in is who we should be looking at. Don't joke around with things like that..
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Great news - if only for sponsorship, tv rights etc in that part of the world. Most important - a clear message to the Premiership that we try our best to hold onto our better players.
rover6 Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Great news - if only for sponsorship, tv rights etc in that part of the world. I just don't get some people's stance on MGP.
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 I just don't get some people's stance on MGP. Do you write for a Sunday Newspaper - as I actually say it is good to see us hanging onto our better players. Or don't you rate MGP ?
rover6 Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Your post was a bit contradictory because you said MGP signing a new deal was great news if ONLY for commercial reasons. I'd have thought that his on-field contribution would be the main reason for being glad of his extended stay at Rovers. But then again, I'm not actually sure how much Rovers earn as a result of having MGP. It can't be that much can it? I know he's kind of a hero in Norway but are the rest of Scandinavia that interested?.....
Hughesy Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Great news - at least someone is committed!! Time for Neill, Reid & Bellamy to follow his lead!!

That's one of the reasons Rovers are talking about this Scandinavian tv deal or whatever it is. Morten's very popular in Denmark
herbergeehh Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 It will certainly ease things for us here in Norway, after a good season aswell we will get quite a few Rovers' matches on tv.
