[Archived] Rovers Sold ??

Other players will have to settle for signing with the Watfords, Sheffield Uniteds and Charltons. Doesn't mean they won't get relegated.

We can't go with what will be available, we have to go with what will be available in comparison to the other 19 prem clubs, or else we'll be comparing to the other 23 Championship clubs.

Trust, no debt, better setup, TV money. We will (as we do now) have more to spend, attract better players in the first place, and hold on to them longer. And not to be making a point for Vinjay, but just because we haven't been spending it these last few years, doesn't mean we don't have it.

As for American sports owners, there is a lot to be said about the financial power of our major sports leagues. I can't think of one team in the top 3 leagues (possibly even throw in hockey) that wouldn't sell for at least 3 to 4 times more money than Rovers. The Premiership is now competing in a global market - these owners know that and will do their best to grow our stature and image. Even updating Rovers World to show more highlights and possibly even delayed matches would make me thrilled about the sale.

They're each members of a cartel, a closed club that they can't be relegated from, that many other egotistical idiots want a membership in for its cache. With the exception of the NFL, the rise in equity value of these clubs has never been a reflection of earnings, but of the value of exclusive membership and all the BS that goes along with it, until of course, the bills start needing payment. Or do you think these salary caps & season long player-strikes/lockouts we've been having for the last 20 years were for fun. European football with its trapdoor/breakable glass ceiling at the bottom of each league is a completely different arrangement. So comparing the amount of $ one might sensibly pay for either is like comparing what one might pay for an orange with what one might pay for an apple.

Improvements to other parts of the club (club shop, website things that aren't Lee's fault, etc..) are needed badly, but I don't like the trade-off in this case.

And we have yet to show that we have ample funds available to make a run at the Champions League. I'd be surprised if we were in the top 3/4 of net spenders this summer.

Alright, I'll call the shot now. If we get the one guy we're all hoping we get, and keep the 2 (+ everyone else for that matter) we don't want to lose, and there's no 6 month long injury to any of our main cogs, then we will finish top 4 this year. Plus a UEFA cup run this year of similar length to last will be enough to be a seeded team in 3rd round qualifying for the CL next summer; which means we play Rosenborg or FC Salzburg instead of Ajax or Valencia.

Why not you then, Charlie? You'd make a good owner I reckon.

He's the best kind of man you can find, but then I've drank with him, so I'm not sure I'm impartial.

I think your being a bit of a drama queen doctor.NOBODY knows any real concrete information about this proposed takeover bar John Williams and the trustees.....NOBODY can predict the future.

Take it easy until some news of real substance comes to light over this story eh

IF its all goes well and we do get tookover then i'd be delighted, i reckon the players and staff we have now we are guranteed atleast a top 10 finish if not top 8 and with the new takeover we could easily push for a Champions League place. If it goes through then it would be great for the club and us.

I think I am with the majority in thinking that it bodes well for the future of Blackburn Rovers FC, that is of course should a takeover be concluded.

One thing is certain, Blackburn Rovers are in bloody good hands under the stewardship of Mr Williams and the Board as well as the Trustees. They will not allow the name of BRFC to be dragged down in any way akin to the comedy over at the COMS.

They will all do well by the name of BRFC and like other members I add to the thoughts of lets just wait and see to what happens in the immediate future. It is clear that whatever talks have been conducted are progressive and I suspect that with the words of JW, albeit they are a little guarded, any talks will be a little more advanced than are being reported/suggested.

I think that is why we have a delay with Rovers kit sponsors and suppliers, all is quiet on the transfer front and there is a little more than nothing newswise eminating form the halls of Ewood Park.

I am totally engrossed as to who the actual talks are being conducted with and would love the know just what type of takeover bid is being muted.

It makes the next 4 weeks very interesting added to the fixture release tomorrow morning.

I'm still wondering why anyone would want to take over the pile of doos that is Birmingham City <_<

Quite excited about the Rovers takeover news. JW and TF will only proceed in the best interests of the club so no worries there.

I'd even forgotten that the fixtures are to be announced tomorrow. :rover:

It's really only the ownership that makes them a terrible club, they do have a large and loyal fan base, with a huge catchment area. Sadly they're the sort of club that could rocket up the Premiership with the right sort of investment.

On the plus side, that will never happen whilst Bruce is in charge.

Their ground is a heap of jerry-built (am I allowed to say that these days?) concrete **** for a start, but hey, no doubt it's prime real-estate <_< .

Still, Steve Bruce for Manager kind of negates any positives as you so rightly point out !

Im scared im hopeful its weird...the thoughts of challenging again, the thoghts of big names again ,the thoughts of manure winning the title again to be greeted by a huge hike in ticket prices, the thoughts of everying going paps ups and rovers going bust...heck its interesting but as long as its not AL FLAMING DAVIS

If we are taken over by the Yanks,I propose forming FC. ROVERS 2007.

The ground will be in Mill Hill on the Mill Hill St Peters ground (is it still there)

Simon Garner as manager,Tugay his assistant.

Season tickets a quarter of the price of those a mile away.

As for the strip, navy (proper blue) and white halves.

Happy days ?

Pound sand Simon. Where does it say or infer in any of my posts that I possess "any real concrete information" about a proposed takeover? It's my opinion, based on experience, that US sports owners are bad for the Premier League. I don't want one at Rovers. If we get one I hope I'm wrong, but............

Eh, I'm a Yank, so perhaps my opinion here is a little biased...

But if we get an owner who's worth his salt, who can give Hughes a real budget, isn't that better for us all? It's not like the owner will start foisting Budweiser on Ewood patrons...

Does everyone think it's a good idea or not?

I don't really want Rovers to have foreign owners. Uncle Jack will be turning in his grave. :(

Wait until something happens, then weigh up the evidence. That's what I'll do.

I am quite sentimental about having the Walkers as owners but everyone moves on and this is the way football is going (like it or not).

Fact is, we need investment if we are consistantly going to challenge for top six and ultimately top four.

I can only see Uncle Jack dancing a jig of delight if Rovers are moved up a level from what they are.

His wife clearly sees Rovers have an opportunity to move forward with new owners and at the same time, I dont think one minute that the Walker clan see Rovers as a drain on their finances or as a burden. After all what Jack gave to us he also gave to his family.

I am more than prepared to wait to see what happens, and I am certain that what will happen can and will be for the good of BRFC.

Providing they are the right candidates for the job, then this can only be a good thing. I'll admit, I'm a little nervous, but within a few years, every Premiership club will be owned by a rich businessmen, and most will probably be foreign.

Now is definitely the right time to to buy, or invest, in the club; while we are at our peak and while we have Hughes at the helm.
