[Archived] Rovers Sold ??

Recommended Posts

A former Director from the 70's and 80's to the best of my recollection.

Thinking back as to my vague memories of how he looked back then with the huge square thick rimmed glasses he must be VERY old by now?????

He must be 75 now, according to THIS article.

I assume they must have found him. :)

Sorry.

The proof of the pudding will be in the eating on this. If a takeover does indeed occur fronted by a local figure it's superb information from Kamy. If not............well I've already given my view.

All I can say is what I said earlier, I am just passing on information that I was given, I am very sure that the information is true because it has come from someone who gets this information for a living, so I would expect that this is they case when things are made public. But I still do not agree about your post about me being an "attention seeker", I very rarely post. But anyhow if that is your opinion then you are entitled to it but I definitely do not agree with it.

Don't worry about it. I got slated for breaking this story and I'm still waiting for those who had a pop to eat humble pie but I expect I'll be waiting forever.....

What you actually said on April 21st was that Rovers were being sold and that details were to be announced within 2 days .

Nearly two months later the club hasn't been sold and no details have been announced .

As Eddie stated earlier it's been common knowledge that JW has been actively looking for the right buyers to take the club on ......."negotiations" have probably been going on with various parties for yonks ...

I have yet to see an exclusive on this thread .....not that people aren't entitled to speculate of course ....

I think you broke the "exclusive" a few seasons ago that we were signing Ferguson for 10m and twelve months ago you said you had a source who had reliably told you we were after signing both Bent and Defoe.

I think I would would prefer not to take the word of someone who appears to be a pure attention seeker and will wait for some reliable information. Why would someone who writes for that particular publication have any inside info?

Either that or Simon Garner's column pays a damn sight more than it used to in my day.

Sounds like the rantings of a bitter man to me. Kamy has been useful with a number of his postings and rarely posts unless he has a source. I'd rather the few posters who do seem to get hold of info continue to share and don't let the sniping of a few stop them.

To be fair to you, you used to post rumours that you heard before but gave up after the amount of stick you took for it. I'd rather hear the rumours even if they turn out not to be true, it has to be better than hearing all our players being linked with other clubs all the time.

Provided any potential buyer doesn't have the idea that he can pick the team and is happy to leave the current staff as is then noone can really be against a rich investor, who is prepared to greatly increase our transfer budget, buying Rovers except for sentimental reasons. It will always be Jack's team since what he did for us but he isn't the owner now and in that respect nothing would change if a rich foreigner did buy the club. I'm pro an investor buying out Rovers and think it's the only way we can keep up in the trasnfer market with other teams challenging for the EUFA Cup and with so many others being bought (or possibly being bought) by rich investors, regardless of where they come from.

Though I agree somewhat, there are reasons why a new investor can ruin the club. To give an example, think about the wage structure. If Abramovich were to get bored with Chelski, he would leave the club in ruin. The budget would suffer and it would ultimately mean that the club would have to sell their players, leaving only players with very low wages. The same could happen to us if we aren't aware of the risks. Having an owner which is a fan would certainly relieve us of some of the negative sides of new ownership.

Due diligence is a piece of elastic. At its most basic, you check that the person who purports to be selling the asset actually does have full unencumbered title over everything being sold. At the other extreme, quite a small company I am doing business with has just had its most senior management sent for comprehensive medical checks and scans in a due diligence process by an intending purchaser lasting ten weeks.

There is usually a sensible middle way on this with the use of strong representation clauses which gives the buyer the ability to strike quickly and effectively if things they have been told turn out to be untrue.

I'd like to see the Eggman's DD file on West Ham. More to the point, Sheff U would love to see it.

Front page of the Sunday People: "Revealed: The Man Buying Rovers".

Daniel Williams, born in Lytham St Annes but now based in New Jersey - £67m bid - "the venture capitalist leading the consortium" - Walter Hubert is also involved. Williams is a Rovers fan and "seriously rich". There's talk of "In the past three months Rovers have talked the price up to a staggering £67m which will go to Walkers family via his Jersey based Trust"

There's nowt on the Sunday People web site that I can see for a full transcript - I've just been out and bought the paper. No doubt they'll be shifting a few copies in Blackburn today!

Googled - best I could find - I think this is the fellaDaniel Williams President of Princeton Global Housing ?

I can't wait to see how this develops! Does anybody know how this could potentially affect Williams' job?

David Williams does seem a potential buyer but whilst he has been described as 'seriously rich' I don't think he would have pockets deep enough without some partners to mount a real injection into Rovers coffers.

The real plus is that he is a local lad (well Lytham St. Annes counts in my mind) and on that basis we should see him as a good choice. Its also clear that the Trust have been very careful when reviewing potential buyers so hopefully they will have done their homework carefully. As an aside now Big Col has his house up for sale (the one opposite the windmill at Lytham) now he's gone to manage the Bully Wee will Mr.Williams return home?

Talking of Mr. Williams, of the John variety, I hope they can find a place for him after the takeover. I think he's been a real asset to the Rovers since he came as Chief Exec.

What did surprise me in the People article is the comment that £67m would go to the Trust, I had hoped that Jack had set it up so that money would support the Rovers. Still, you can't criticise his generosity and maybe that money will go into some other worthy causes.

Bound to be a lot of twists and turns yet but this sounds more like a traditional ownership of an Englsih club.

I'm delighted at this news. :D

I was reluctant to welcome a foreign investor because I thought it was wrong with Uncle Jack only passing away seven years ago but this guy sounds like a true Rovers fan. :rover:
