nicko i would like your job, u don't seem to be rushed of your feet do you, spending all day on here

Not all day. I just forget to log out. I am an amateur at this stuff.

I'll ask you again if you want my job when you work every day and go to over 150 matches a year, watching some terrible sh!t in the process.

Still, it beats working.

I find it quite unbelievable that people on this site slag off nicko. There just always has to be a hidden agenda for some people. It must be really depressing to see the bad side in every one you come across. That you can't just trust them at face value. But of course when it all comes out as everything nicko says as being true then it will be "yeah, but I was just preparing us for a let-down". Leave the guy alone to do his job. Some of us appreciate the work he's doing and the time he's taking to let us know whats going on.

Nicko, PhilipL has never been right about anything ever, and thenodrog is a wind-up merchant. The former has good intentions but is prone to wildly inaccurate predictions, and the latter feels the need to stick his oar in with everything, mostly to stir the pot.

I've not been one of these people who has said "We love you nicko. Please can you tell me if you have heard anything about <X>, <Y> or <Z>." I've enjoyed reading this thread a lot and appreciate your input. Please don't take anything to heart here. I know 99% of the people here are grateful for the little snippets and teasers you provide us.

how long have you been a newspaper reporter for nicko?

It will be exactly 29 years in a fortnight.

Hoping to get a real job soon.

Before that the proud writer/editor/publisher/salesman of the Jagsmag, one of the first and best fanzines ever. No bias.

I really must go, got a presser and a ressie game to go to.

Oh dear, I have been rumbled.

And I suppose Dan Williams told me about Rigters, Todd, Santa Cruz, Beattie and asked me to pass that information on to the fans.

Apologies, Nicko, If I've said anything untoward, it was more of an observation from me rather than a statement, and I don't doubt the veracity of your other leads.

Like I said, It was an observation. Quite why you would say "because I know what the guy is working overtime to achieve" suggest to me that you are closer to the action than perhaps you are admitting. Not that that is a slight on you. It may be the Williams D trusts you, and he probably does. He'll certainly want bits and pieces put out there in a friendly manner, to test the water, so to speak.

Like I said, part of me wants this buyout to go through, another part of me is wary because it could land the club with an eventual unsustainable debt. Any debt will be funded through mortgages, and the West African properties won't be wanted by lenders, they'll want Ewood.

No offence taken.

I have got closer to this story down the weeks. I am propbably the only national reporter taking any kind of interest in it. I want to know as much about it as possible. I have found things out that are - as yet - too sensitive to mention.

You are right, as a fan, to be suspicious and sceptical. I am the same as a reporter. You learn to trust nothing you are told and double check it where you can. Remember I got my first five or six versions of this story from totally independent sources. The first did not involved Dan Williams, the next two probably worked against him.

I have done as much work as possible on this subject over the past few weeks and been biting my tongue. If I thought the guy was a fake I would be telling you as much.

In truth, if I told you what I have found out lately it really could come over as PR.

I cannot and will not do that as I want to wait until the time is right and bring the whole tale out in all detail.

Like everybody else involved I hope that is sooner rather than later.

Could you hint at whether or not I am right to be worried though?

Why would any businessman even think of constructing an elaborate ruse to win over a bunch of internet posters who have no say whatsoever in any proposed deal? But hey, Nicko's a witch!! Burn him!!!!!

For years all we've had is the silent tomb AKA Rovers PR machine and the Lancashire Evening Pravda. Then as soon as we get a decent inside track on BRFC happenings, the laughably named 'respected posters' react like a bunch of spoilt princesses because their 10,000+ posts are no longer the centre of attention - not that they ever were for any readers with half a brain.

Pathetic.

Keep it up Nicko; I'd much rather read your so-called self-serving, career-enhancing, Dan William's scripted propaganda than the real drivel coming from the regulars.

In fact that is the last word on the subject from this end until it happens.

That might be the best outcome nicko. With due respect you acknowledge that you have been literally given the cold shoulder treatment in your search for some direct contact with Dan 'man of mystery' Williams but then you appear to hint that you know more than you are prepared to tell us supporters(strange indeed <_< ) so let OFFICIAL club sources reveal all when the time is right and proper.....many fans are sceptical and are right to be so.

Thanks for you contributions on the players thread's as its been true and accurate.

news sells papers

I laughed at this one, it's bad when even the journalists are having trouble believing it!

philipl, if you have some information on the (very strange) happenings on the Southampton message boards, then we'd appreciate the knowledge. Especially the administrators, they have a user with the same name as that one on modwatch as a troll. Having had a gander at it myself, I don't think there's anything to it except a well aimed and executed troll that was eaten up by the Southampton fans.

I do enjoy your look at all this from a financial perspective - it makes interesting reading.

The more I hear / read I dislike the Williams project for the simple reason outlined by philip. "The scale of what is planned," we can take that any number of ways. Unlimited funds to put us back to 1995? Somehow I think not, it worked then but it could not work now. How about this one? Ewood Park is in the wrong place. If Uncle Jack ever made a mistake at Ewood it was to rebuild on the existing site. Somehow this deal has to be financed and to earn a profit so perhaps "the scale of what is planned" includes moving us lock, stock and barrel to somewhere close to the M65. For all the fine ideas there is no logical financial reason in developing the existing ground to provide other income streams (hotel, etc.) Would everyone feel so cheery then?

I agree with this . The only way to move us on to another level and to even get a remote chance of being profitable would be to move from Ewood . The infrastructure around Ewood isn't up to the job ; the council (up to now at least ) don't give a monkeys , and demographic factors mean our survival as a club let alone a premiership force cannot be taken for granted in the medium and long terms .

A move to a more accessible area might , if God knows how much money were to be pumped into the venture , help to squeeze the smaller clubs in the area and help to bring in new fans . Lancashire UTD in all but name Theno might say .....

Whether this scenario would be desirable is another question altogether .

Would it not be better to take control of the council and demonise those locals against Blackburn Rovers then put in place the infrastructure needed to support Ewood - just a thought.

Down with the councillors who dont support Rovers , down with Lancashire United long live Blackburn Rovers.
