Been thinking about the 'whose side are you on?' theories here.

On the Rovers side? Well, I did suggest that the offer was more than it needed to be. That was a big favour.

On the Dan Williams side? I didn't know the guy, hoped we had the right picture, named him anyway and his team, had them paranoid about where the leaks came from.

Can we not just accept it was a good story?

Or is that too hard to believe?

nicko, it was reported in last weeks lancashire telegraph on the 25th July that D Williams was closing in on a deal but nothing has been reported since. Is something going to happen soon or is there a problem ? I just want all this to be sorted out so we can get on with the season. Players always say that they don't get distracted by takeovers etc.. but I think the whole club will be distracted until the deal is done. Is there going to be an exclusive in the sunday people about DW finally taking control !?!

Nicko, you're either a p!ss poor reporter or Dan Williams is playing you like a fiddle. One of his stories you swallowed was this gem:

Some crank put up a website in his name. (djwventures.com) It happens. He is trying to close it down as it is misleading.

Nothing on there is from Daniel Williams.

His interview today was as straight as you get from a millionaire.

Give him a chance.

The crank that put his website up was this guy:

What I've never been able to understand is why anyone should want to put up a false website in the real Daniel Williams' name?

At least not in April which was well before the Rovers story broke. Could understand someone doing it for a prank after his interest in buying a Premiership Football Club became public. As might well have happened down at Southampton. (Or then again, maybe not  )

On the other hand, if it was a fake, whoever it was must have had some limited knowledge about the matter as it referred to "The Spring 2007 takeover of Blackburn Rovers" long before any approach became public knowledge.

Anyone any ideas?

If you had checked on the djwventures.com two months ago and then five seconds ago you would find it is completely different. The amateurish effort, which Dan Williams denied he had anything to do with, no longer exists.

Funny that 'Guided Missile' has joined in the fun since a few days ago.

Is this the same Guided Missile who was on the Southampton forum not long back?

I only ask that question because I am a p!ss poor reporter.

I suppose Dan Williams has been a hoax all the way along. Leaked a story, denied it was him, confirmed it to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph because he needs that kind of publicity to tell the folks round the Saloon Bar in his backwoods local in New Jersey.

The meetings, the offers, the trips across the Atlantic just for the fun of being talked about on fans forums...

When the custard pies are flung shortly I will be sure to guide one missile in your direction.

If I had checked on the djwventures.com two months ago, I would have found that your dreamer friend was still the administrator. According to you, he had nothing to do with it and someone must have hacked his account to post a hoax website about Blackburn Rovers.

I think his game is called phishing and we ran the Rugby loving loser, from the Isle of Wight, off of the Southampton site weeks ago. You're obviously still enamoured...maybe there's some investors as gullible as you, who'll be lured in by the crock of sh!t he's peddling...I seriously doubt it....

If you have a point to make then do it without using swearwords or replacing letters with punctuation.

Did you check the website "two months ago"? If you didn't then i don't think you can really say who owned it. Stick to what you best, whatever that is. :rover:

So....what you're saying is that Daniel Williams may not have administered the website two months ago, although he does now, having, presumably taken over from the "crank" that set up the hoax website?

You have now made it clear to me, why remedial internet access for the terminally stupid is not a good idea...

When I found that particular website myself, some two months ago now, it was in a different form and had the statement about the 'Blackburn Rovers takeover' on it.

This was posted on the website AFTER the story about Dan Williams came out in the Sunday People. I checked with him after the story came out and he said it was not his website, but he was 'doing something about it.' There was other information on the website that was a compilation

I do not know if it was on BEFORE it came out because I did not check on it at that stage. I cannot imagine he put it on there before the story came out because he denied he was the Blackburn Rovers bidder originally. That was understandable. To be fair to him once he was 'outed' by me he came clean.

You seem very anti-Williams. Almost like a woman scorned. I wonder why that should be? From what I can gather from the Southampton end there was a spiteful campaign against Williams after he was approached by some fans who wanted to find a backer and chose him because of what had appeared in the paper. Things like abusive e-mails and phone calls to staff and middle men.

Was that not the reason why he told you lot to get stuffed?

Are you not telling us something, Guided Missile?

Or should I call you Rupert?

Question - is rovers being sold? if so how far along? and is this stuff about it being a hoax true?

It's ongoing.

There is no hoax.

Just negotiations.

Leave it to the buyer and the seller to sort out.

It's that simple.

Mate, as a Rovers fan who's lived in Southampton for 8 years or so, I really would give up on this and channel your energy into worrying about Saints. The state they are in I would think the last thing you should be concerned with is who is / isn't taking over Rovers. Saints are at crisis point, and sadly with the current side and severe lack of funds a return to the Prem looks a million miles away.

For Blackburn, they have probably their strongest squad since winning the title and are playing european football again next season.

As Rovers fans are we really bothered if a takeover doesn't go through - not in the slightest because our current owners are already doing a mighty fine job. Believe me, the Walker family didn't amass a fortune close to £1bn by being naive when negotiating business deals, so you honestly think they would fall for a hoax - come on man, wake up to the real world. Its a win / win situation for us whatever happens.

Just another thing, who's sponsoring Saints at present and helping to keep the wolf from the St Mary's door with their name all over the place - FlyBe - and who owns FlyBe, oh yes the very same Walker family that own Rovers ;)

Nicko, could it be true that one of the reasons for the delays etc are in relation to certain sanctions put in place by the late JW to protect the clubs future? I've been told that the club could only be sold to a person / party who meets certain requirements put in place as part of Jack's will, which ensure the clubs long term future.

I think all of that stuff will be established when it comes to due diligence.

The hold-up has been over valuations - it IS that simple.

There are other things going just now that will be explained later.

All of this 'hoax' stuff is an insult to the club and the people trying to buy it.

Of course it is frustrating that there is not a final result yet.

However if there is - and I believe that has a strong chance of happening - then it is better for all parties to take their time to check each other out.

I remember when Jack Walker was becoming involved 20 years ago that it took a long time for the business arrangement to be agreed and everybody to be happy about it.

It's not like a transfer where it is relatively straightforward. There are so many other things involved.

Interesting how some people can make there minds up despite evidence to the contrary. Spiteful campaign against Daniel Williams??? Let me share an email from your client to one of our posters, just after this quote from the Lancashire News:

They are only interested in Blackburn. Anything else you see about any other club is fan-created claptrap.

That Lancashire piece you posted has really f*cked me off. What a w*nker! (Not you, DW and his cronies).

Do you want his mobile number? It is DEFINITELY him I spoke to - I am not stupid, I have his US mobile, and his e-mail address at Princeton Global.

His last e-mail to me is below ... I am not bothering to follow up on it because it's all a load of horsesh*t.

"I have encouraged a very close friend of mine to pick up the mantle and move forwards with Southampton and to ‘inherit’ our offer to the club, and he seems very happy to do so. I have offered him the backing required, and he has a long affiliation with the club and will declare his intention publicly in the coming days. He will have full access to the plans etc.

Whether I can persuade Vicki Lynn, who has worked for me for 18 months, to revoke her resignation letter after her picture was blasted across your fan sites, remains to be seen. Whether Lynn Talbot will ever want to get involved with anything again after both her and my reputations were attacked, also remains to be seen. However, there is no damage done if my friend takes up things here, he is a shrewd business man and a great guy to boot, and will implement all our ideas and more.

Best regards

Dan Williams "

I tell you what, being an investigative journo who gets a hard on posting titbits on this site, how about finding out a little titbit about him? He left our site when he was asked the "spiteful" question of what the net worth of Princeton Global Housing was, apparently the main vehicle for his takeover...maybe he'll tell you...while you're at it, ask him why someone called HelpMeRhonda, registered on the Saints forum, was emailing confidential documents regarding the proposed bid for Southampton Leisure plc to a number of our posters, from the same IP address as the one he emails from.
