Well...it seems good. I'll still have my doubts until it is completed and we see how he behaves, but there's nothing that can be done about that really. They better get it through quickly if they want to think about having an impact in this transfer window.

£45m + £20m debt (presumably to the Walkers). Isn't that just about the same as the original £65m bid or is it just a tax issue?

The original breakdown was £50 million for the shares plus the rest for debt/new players.

But there was a review of the offer for the shares, lowering it to £45 million. This has obviously yet to be accepted and if it is then it's 'game on.'

The further £25 million is what is available for new players. This is a new element and was demanded by the trustees, which is fair enough. The bidders have raised that too as far as I am aware. They will have to show that money too.

So the deal now is [a] the trustees get less for their shares but know that the money they missed out on is part of the pot for new players.

To an outsider that seems quite amicable. But, it's not my money, so it's down to them to sort out.

Obviously if it can all be agreed in the next few days then the cash is there to spend. However if the sides look like agreeing in time the money could be handed over in advance of completion.

Mind you, the final decision on spending should be and will be with the manager. If he does not think there is a need or prefers to wait until January then that's fair enough.

The 'debt' including running costs is currently managed and will just pass on to the new people if they get the club.

If there are any questions feel free to ask...if I can answer without breaking a confidence or messing up the next story I will.

Can you give us any information on other members of the consortium ..are there any Miami Dolphins aboard?

No, as far as I know.

If you mean the billionaire Wayne Huizenga who was mentioned at the start, then pretty certainly no.

Dan Williams's long-term allies were the Plainfield Asset Management people. I believe they are still on the scene.

But there are other backers, although it would be wrong to comment on that as this is information I did not find out independently.

If I find out myself I can pass it on, if I get told off the record I don't.

I´ve been reading about this takeover since it came out. Trying not to get 2 excited and maybe disappointed if it fell through.

With this new article I have 1 question :

In Your oppinion, is it time to get exited now ?

Nice one Nicko for all the updates regarding transfers and the takeover. It's definitely been an informative summer :)

Just one question though, how long would you reckon this last part of the takeover will take to conclude? Dilligence, handing over of the keys as it were etc.

Wouldn't hold out much hope of it getting finalised before the end of the Summer T Window, but it could be that we'd be busy and productive during January's though if all goes well.

Once everything is in place it should be quite quick and straightforward.

These things take a lot of time putting together, but if it is done right then the next steps - spending on players being the most important - can follow on swiftly.

It could be one of the smoothest takeovers ever as no-one is trying to push out the key figures of the current regime.

Newcastle got messy, Aston Villa changed a manager, Liverpool took forever, Manchester City took a time.

The past few weeks have obviously been frustrating, but it could have been much worse if the club was a shambles and the new buyers wanted to bring in their own people and rip everything up.

A Velvet Rover-lution...

Talking of takeovers... is it true about ex-Hull chairman Adam Pearson is going to throw his money away on a £30mill takeover of Leeds? ...I think he'd be stupid to do that... though I heard rumours he was interested in buying Huddersfield Town.

Sounds good. It's just as well that Rovers are seemingly a well run club, upstairs and on the pitch, and like you say, hopefully should be a smooth transition.

A velvet rover-lution indeed :D

I hope changing the board as he wants to wont hinder the well run nature of the club.

As im sure we all dont, but i think if John Williams remains and is at the forefront of any future board then this should play a big part in keeping things as well run as it has been for the last few years

Mr. Nixon is it true that him being a property developer he has plans for a Blackburn hotel and casino style addition as well as other smaller ground improvements? Also revamping the training grounds? I thank you for your input and always appreciate you thanks

I've not heard about a hotel or casino. But that doesn't mean it's not something on the agenda.

I think the facilities will be used more, but that is going into areas that I have been told off the record.

What I could say is that the spare money is for players in the short term.

The other projects I have heard about are for later and sound interesting, but I would say they are more sport-orientated.

I'm not sure that the casino idea is quite as popular with overseas investors since the Blackpool/Manchester fiasco.

£25 million for players isnt alot is it! Not when you take into account the wages!

Is that for the next window only or is that all the spare cash for players he has?

That is what will be available once - and if - the takeover goes through.

After that it is down to the manager.

I think it would make a difference from a personal point of view. You could bring in the two or three men for competition that would help if there were injuries.

It is quite a lot as well. But it is how you spend it.

Other clubs have spent fortunes on average players and will be mid-table at best.

I don't think the current squad needs changing, just helping.

There is also the speculate to accumulate factor. The right players would mean a higher league placing and maybe Europe or, at a real stretch, the top four.

Nicko,

Thanks for your contribution!

You seem to be a betting man so what odds are there of the deal going through?

Do you think an announcement will be made this week?

Cheers
