[Archived] Rovers Sold ??

Recommended Posts

One last thing, you haven't told us what your alternative to this takeover would be, given that the trust cannot (and will not) go on for ever? I'd be interested to hear your views.
This is the same thing I heard coming up to the vote to privatise South Sydney, people criticising the plan but not coming with a decent alternative. I'm not sure that steering the path we're taking now will make sense later, especially when more and more money is invested in the League and the gap between the have and the have-nots increases.

As Damage's comment's about foreign fans; when you get off your arse at 2am to listen to a game on the 'net then you can then question people's commitment. Of course unless you want to give me the $50,000 so I can live in the UK to watch Rovers play home and away for a season.

It's comments like this that really give me the ######.

Mods, please feel free to edit if general offence is made.

Ginger T**t eh? I trust we'll not hear such outbursts from that particlar source for a week or two. Rem I don't get any such latitude.

btw ill gotten is simply a metaphor, so dont get you knickers in a twist and dont make me laugh about any recourse to legal action. You are showing yourself up.

Why ask Lee Grooby? 1. He's gone and 2. Donations were supposed to be anonymous.

yep, been here since 1996, and you?

err it's on my profile Dave. 11 years and it seems you still cannot find your arse using both hands.

btw in the time since you've been on here would you care to inform us how much you estimate the amount that supporting the Rovers so staunchly has cost you and the financial benefit that they have received from your devotion?

Listen guys, We're getting really fed up with people posting insulting comments. I'm not going to get into the "who started it" argument. Beware though, anyone posting insults are running the risk of being put on mod watch [where your posts might, or might not get published] or even banned for a period of time.

god knows how much I've spent.

I know I've had a knife at my throat v Everton in the '60s.

I've frozen my balls off at many a game.

The fingers that type have caught a ball kicked by Sir Stanley.

I was there at the 7-2

and the cup replay v Bumley.

Sir Lee brought me a heap of stuff.

Following year daughter attended and got me another heap.

got the socks, got the jocks,

and you are 30 or so miles from Goodison and still on here, I hope you get down there soon sunshine and give them a shout.

There's a bit of bitterness in your posting today, maybe you should have left the UK, but you probably don't have the balls to do it....

live to whinge, whinge to live, that sums you up.

Just a quick re-appearance.

A certain poster seems to feature prominantly in the threads that contain insults, Den.

Not that I would ever wave an imanginary cyber red card of course.

Bye

Ginger Tawt not enough for you Den? Colour predjudice and circumventing the swear filter and insulting other posters and 'shouting'. The only rule he's missed out on is holding 2 accounts!

Come back Paul with your hair trigger finger ... all is forgiven! :tu:

So they just keep logging on here to show their faith and undying support. I wonder how many even sent a few bob for this site when the board Admin requested some voluntary funding?

As the person who has primarily looked after brfcs.com finances for the past 6-7 years I'd like to comment on that statement. I know, but won't identify, every person who has supported the site financially in that time. Suffice to say I would be very careful over casting aspersions at the overseas members and especially towards the Australian contingent. It would be a good idea to be sure of your facts before making such remarks, beacuse I know the facts.

The line's drawn here guys.

No offence to any Mod at all but it's about time they dealt with the root cause rather than stepping into these little tiffs halfway through and saying they don't care who started it. As far as i'm concerned i'd happily be banned cos if you start banning decent posters for responding to the ginger tw@ then the site isn't worth visiting anymore.

Your avatars ginger. Strange thing the workings of the subconcious mind don't you think?

3 members put on mod approval.

Finally!

Can we get back to takeover and Dan Williams talk now?

Assuming we get £25m to spend, i would hope that hughes would continue along in a similar way to normal, making bargain buys and then have the odd larger transfer of a proven player.

Given we've one week left I reckon Hughes has one buy in mind but is playing it very close to his chest. Then a few months' football to seek out some great buys in January.

Personally I think we have made all the signings we are going to this transfere window! Even if the buyout were to happen on monday I don't think there would be the time to tee up a transfere without blowing a large amout of an as yet unconfirmed pot of gold.

I think MH prefers to take a long time looking at players and making the right deal at the right price, not blowing his wad because he can/feels obliged to do so because the money is there!

I agree it's very late, but MH has a much better idea than us (or even Nicko :)) of the timing of the takeover and the funds available. If he's expecting money before the end of the month and there's the right player at the right price, he's ready for it and just waiting for DW's signature.

I'm abosolutely not suggesting he'll make a rash buy just cos the money's burning a hole in his pocket. We're in a comfortabe position with a strong squad and seemingly no players at risk of a move elsewhere. That'll be reflected in our dealings with other clubs. We've a manager who drives a very good bargain in the transfer market and the security in our players to back that up.

This confidence is driving me mental - should've got an Everton ticket!
