nicko Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Any clues who that is nicko? A couple of people seem to have an 'in' with the trustees by my reckoning. Little details that have emerged. But this is a big development - and is key to the whole thing. I'm still waiting for someone to match the info I have found out today...

Eddie Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 When would you actually be able to release details?

If everything was plain sailing, doubt you'd post.

But this is a big development - and is key to the whole thing. I'm still waiting for someone to match the info I have found out today... Well I know of one person who might fit that description and from what I heard things are OK. BTW I'm not someone with an "in"
John Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 If this is strange to believe and key to the whole thing, it sounds like a fundamental issue..... very intriguing. The Walker family do not want to sell anymore??
Billy Castell Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 How about the Trust are not going to sell, and Fred Walker is going to lob many £m into the mix so we can kick butt once more? Or is Vinjay going to buy out the Trust?
Fife Rover Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 The bid is now being funded by West African oil revenues - much more solid than West African Global Housing contracts. Anyway as I understand they have BILLIONS to invest ....... but it is tied up by intricate Nigerian finance laws and can only be moved out of the country via non-business bank accounts. As such they are seeking to use the domestic accounts of all the fine people on this MB as vehicle by which to transfer these vast sums through to final purchasing account held in NJ, USA. Please expect PM requesting your assistance and bank account details in due course. or maybe I am misreading the situation? I shall just ask them to send my millions in a large brown paper parcel marked "Books - Do not crush" and I will take it to the bank myself. Simple innit!
nicko Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I understand that there is a genuine second bidder. I believe they have made a rival offer of £40 million for the shares and £20 million available for players. However I am a little but dubious about why this should be for two very good reasons: 1 - Dan Williams and his people were talking about £45 million plus £25 million for the transfer kitty. 2 - Why would the trustees consider taking so much less for their shares. I don't know who the 'bidders' are but the offer is supposed to be legit. It is all very strange. One thing is sure there won't be a deal with Dan Williams and friends before the deadline. Where we go from here is anyone's guess...
Baz Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Good Good, now we may see a bit more action from Mr Williams, and maybe a bit of a bidding war too. Hopefully this will mean that we get to hear more about the bidders intentions for the club beyond the initial "sweetener".
RevidgeBlue Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Nicko, interesting news indeed, but I wasn't aware Dan Williams had made any sort of offer. If a "second bidder" has indeed made "an offer" surely that's substantially more progress than we've had in a couple of months from the Dan Williams camp?. Are you not at the stage yet where you view the DW interest as some sort of strange publicity seeking exercise? Interested to hear your views.

The Williams team have made an offer - verbally and, as far as I know, in writing. You can discount the publicity seeking theory. His name only came to light after I tracked him down and he did NOT want to be in the papers. I am more interested in who the other bidders are and why an apparently lesser offer is now being considered. I think those are the two real issues just now. Let's see if anyone else can come up with a name and a reason. I am personally close to being puffed out with the whole thing.

Fascinating stuff, especially about an offer already having been made, which of course the club have flatly denied in public. Thanks for your input.
DanLad Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Souness was trying to put something together to buy Wolves, wasn't he? He wasn't successful there so maybe he thought he'd try us?
nicko Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Souness was trying to put something together to buy Wolves, wasn't he? He wasn't successful there so maybe he thought he'd try us? I am pretty certain you can discount that one.
brian_gallagher85 Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 So my belief that a group of Journos are behind this second bid to keep themselves busy until the next window may be close to the truth after all
DanLad Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I am pretty certain you can discount that one. Sorry, I forgot the smilie first time around! ;-) Interesting stuff, Nicko, thanks for the continued info. Very gratefully received :-)

I think those are the two real issues just now. Let's see if anyone else can come up with a name and a reason. If there's any truth in this latest rumour, the cynic in me suggests that it's because it's considered that mystery bidder(s) mark 2 actually have 60m instead of just talking about it. Or, even if the Williams' bid was considered to be genuine, it might be considered that bidder no. 2 has greater potential to invest in players season upon season rather than just a one off 25m etc.
1864roverite Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I wonder if it could be the Ray Ranson consortium that tried to purchase City ?
RevidgeBlue Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I wonder if it could be the Ray Ranson consortium that tried to purchase City ? Dreaming for a second, and probably never going to happen in practice, but the Dubai Investment Group who were courted and then unceremoniously dumped by Liverpool would be nice. They'd have serious clout and would also have more than a bit of a point to prove...............
John Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Do you expect to hear more on this other bidder Nicko? Have you had it verified that this is the case (i.e. someone else is interested) ?
nicko Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Do you expect to hear more on this other bidder Nicko? Have you had it verified that this is the case (i.e. someone else is interested) ? Working on the name. But I have no reason to doubt the info.
Yorick Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 2 - Why would the trustees consider taking so much less for their shares. A bird in the hand.
stuwilky Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 2 - Why would the trustees consider taking so much less for their shares. Potentially, due to some clause or other about the sale of the club, which may or may not exist (!) It is clear the trust arent in ownership of BRFC for profit. Good Good, now we may see a bit more action from Mr Williams, and maybe a bit of a bidding war too. Hopefully this will mean that we get to hear more about the bidders intentions for the club beyond the initial "sweetener". Im of the opinion a "bidding war" would be bad - surely paying more the club itself would result in less money for the "transfer pot"? Fascinating stuff, especially about an offer already having been made, which of course the club have flatly denied in public. I did hear talk fairly recently of a bid having been made. Have the club denied that in the last fortnight or so?
BlueMonday Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Im of the opinion a "bidding war" would be bad - surely paying more the club itself would result in less money for the "transfer pot"? Agreed. A bidding war simply benefits the trustees. However if in fact they have listened to a lower bid this may reveal they have a different agenda. They may have to consider the bid which best secures BRFC's long term future. If thats the case then Jack is still looking out for us from the great terrace in the sky. God bless that man!
tcj_jones Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Souness was trying to put something together to buy Wolves, wasn't he? He wasn't successful there so maybe he thought he'd try us? I hope to God this happens.
