Thanks MB. What you say is a fair comment and I agree with you. I don't have an agenda on this, or anything else for that matter, but do have the feeling those who took a sceptical view of DW were viewed, by some at least, as being unsupportive of the club when most of us were concerned with what the future may hold after a takeover.

Thats exactly what I thought when I first read it, I could be reading too much into the 2 sentences that were in the telegraph today regarding the takeover but Andy Neild and the LET in general are pretty good with stuff like this and I don't think they would have said anything if they didn't know something.....but on the other hand if the LET are reacting to nicko's article in the people nicko did say that Williams will make his decision this week and the LET stated in their 2 sentences that a decision has not been made yet so are the LET just reiterating what nicko said in the people ??

2 sentences just about sums it up. Behind the story more like.

THIS TAKE OVER ISN'T HAPPENING, END OF.

How does the fact that the LET, presumably from BRFC sources, are quoting the takeover to not yet be off, fit in with all this conspiracy theory / he never had any money anyway posturing? Surely if it was all a sham from day 1, the LET would not be printing stuff 4 months later encouraging the notion that a takeover was still on the cards?

And can we please ban that Southampton tosser.

My own personal view on this is, that on this particular issue Andy Neild is being even more gullible than nicko. Plus there seems to be an element of one upmanship to it. Every time nicko prints something which is genuinely exclusive, (right or wrong) the LT seemingly attempts to follow up a day or two later with something along the lines of "Contrary to what was printed in the National Press at the weekend blah blah blah..........." - trying to discredit the original version and make their (basically copied and slightly different) version look better.

I presume Andy has contacted the person he had previously interviewed purporting to be Daniel Williams and been told that the thing is still in the balance.

(Do we even know for certain that the person purporting to be Daniel Williams is the pleasant fresh faced young ginger haired chap beaming out from THAT photo?" )

NOTHING about DW has ever added up, certainly not on the basis of any bits of independent research carried out.

I don't buy for a minute the excuse that DW is pulling out because of pressure of outside business interests. It was previously stated it was thought the current management were doing a great job and that that arrangement should not be changed. <_<

In defence of "the Southampton tosser" it appears from reading the Saints message boards that he uncovered DW or the person purporting to be DW as an imposter in rapid quick time. I stated my view a month or two ago that in view of the available facts I thought this was a hoax and events over the weekend only tend to confirm that view.

In defence of nicko, even if it's only Michael Knighton marks 2, 3, or 4 expressing an interest in the club either now, or at any time in the future, I definitely want to hear about it and I'm grateful to him for breaking it in the first place.

Opinions are great, but just to put you straight on some of the happenings of the past few months...

1 You would know the answer if you had actually tracked him down rather than depend on any other form of information.

2 How did you work that out?

3 You spoke to him too? You checked why? I know the reason he has given me. If there is another, I am happy to be told.

4 Perhaps you would want to contact Rothschilds and find out if they have or have not been in discussions with Dan Williams for six months.

I am personally past caring.

Why's that?

Because as far as I know it's over.

I think I pointed out here - or maybe somewhere else - that there was an August 31 deadline set by Dan Williams and his team.

For the next few days there was an unusual silence to questions I was posing. I have had enough of a feel of this over the past three months to become suspicious that it was about to collapse.

Then I get the answer to the problem last Thursday and write the epitath on Sunday.

I don't think there is any life in the story now. Hence, past caring.

I would like to know who the other 'bidder' is - the group mentioned to Dan Williams during the negotiations in late August. But this time I will let other people do the work.

There are other things going on that will occupy my time.

Sadly this looks to be coming to nothing. I say 'sadly' because I know the guys intentions and ideas were good. As I said before I will keep them to myself just in case he comes up with a way round his current difficulty.

I am also fed up with breaking just about all of the important parts of this potentially significant stage in your history and finding out that some people are using it as a way of taking the mick out of a guy who got further down the road of buying your club than anyone else.

All of the garbage about asset-stripping and hoaxes was based on people jumping to conclusions after info that I put in the public domain.

So, I repeat, I'm past caring.

Well now! Having read that new news in LT article, I am left with a slight feeling of confusion. On the one hand the first feeling after reading it was one of relief (to my surprise) and I spent a few minutes trying to analyse why I should be feeling relieved. The only "conclusion" I have come up with is the fact that the only party so far to show any interest in buying Rovers who could also be classed as a fan is Dan Williams. This (for me ) gives him a considerable edge over any other takeover parties of the purely business nature i.e. having no interest in Rovers in any sense other than the purely business opportunity side of things.

However, I like several others on here remain nervously sceptical about the whole idea of the takeover, but at the same time I feel it to be inevitable that a takeover will have to happen sooner or later because the trustees obviously want out. Therefore it HAS to happen or else Rovers are going down the leagues again into oblivion. Do any of us really want that?

I am afraid that we the fans have no other choice but to sit tight and keep the faith in the likes of John Williams and the trustees to ensure that the terms of Jack's will are met and that any buy-out will have to have certain guarantees met before it can be approved. What else can we, the fans, do?

The way I read that is that he didn't have what it takes this time, but he's going to have a rummage down the back of the couch for some more funds and may come sniffing around again.

I won't feel any easier if he comes back in. But thats just my opinion

Best analysis I've seen for ages. The guy simply hasnt got the financial substance for this unless he gets some serious backing.

300k houses in Nigeria!! Wow better start hoarding those shoe boxes guys cos the price of cardboard is gonna soar!

Why do you assume that DW is a fan of BRFC? I don't think we should accept this idea without some evidence (preferably not just the name he gives to a horse or the fact that he has borrowed a book from someone or allegedly living in Lytham - how long?).

Ultimately Dan Williams's reason for pulling back is because of his own business situation. If you look at his projects in Africa they are likely to be time-consuming.

It would be wrong to divulge too much of what he told me when I checked this story, but basically he does not think he can take on both jobs and do them justice.

Williams, however, insists his takeover bid is not dead in the water, and he claims both he and his partners remain committed to the process.

Are Nicko and Andy Neild talking to the same Dan Williams?!

Yes Damage, That is a fair question to ask, but it is also very subjective, and I would think very easy indeed for any of Rovers side in the negotiations to check out. I expect that part of the thing has already been done to their satisfaction as part of the investigation into the suitability of any would-be buyer within the terms of Jack's will.

There is no difference - the details confirmed today are those you have been told for the past few months...and the specific one you had last Sunday.

Williams first became interested in buying Rovers in March earlier this year, but a series of delays, partly due to other business commitments elsewhere, has meant that process has taken longer than expected, leading to frustration and scepticism amongst supporters.

"I can understand the fans' frustrations because this thing has gone back and forth," said Williams, who is also currently in negotiations with the Nigerian government over a contract to build 300,000 new houses in the African nation.

"At first, we didn't think the club was doing its bit and they weren't giving us enough information concerning a right and reasonable valuation."

Well said Fife Rover

I am very nervous about the situation because this will determine the clubs long term future but I think it’s time to sit back, enjoy the football on the pitch and hope that the board know what they are doing.

So far they have done a good job and I have no doubt that they will make the correct decision.

I agree.

John Williams has shown himself to be no mug up to now since taking over as chairman.

He seems to be someone who tries to satisfy both the fans and trustees in equal measure.

I for one think that whilst John Williams is at the helm making the decisions that will ultimately shape the future of Rovers,i don`t think he would consider just anybody to take over the club unless he is up to scratch.

I am not so sure if we have already had a poll on this,as to who is in favour of Dan williams taking over and who isn`t.

But it would be interesting to see the results.

Whilst it might be interesting to see what peoples point of view is as to supporting this takeover or not - we really don't know enough about it to form an advised view. A lot of the 'info' in this thread is based on hearsay and hypothesising.

Without knowing what Williams' plans would be in detail I can't say I'm firmly in one camp or the other.

My reading of the situation is that this is bit of a bad taste running gag.

One can read anything or nothing into Andy Neild scooping Nicko. That is certainly more interesting and more real than the previous big housing deal in West Africa which probably turned up on a different American company's web site complete with that country's Minister for Housing paying a visit.

To be honest, this is now getting beyond a joke. Dan Williams or the person purporting to be Dan Williams has clearly told nicko one thing and Andy Neild another. Just how much bullcrap will peple actually be prepared to swallow before are prepared to dismiss it as a bad taste joke?

I personally don't believe a word of what is said in the LT article and I wish he would just bugger off and leave us alone leaving the club to concentrate on any serious interest should it arise.
