Is there still nothing on info on this second bidder?

I know we could speculate to infinity and beyond about the Trust deeds, but I'd hedge a bet that one of the conditions for taking over the club is that he must be recognised as a fan of the club. That really limits our bidders if so, but I hope we do get a fan of the club, rather than a consortium of suits.

But anybody could pose as a fan of the club.

I think the silence from Rovers on this subject indicates that there are still talks ongoing. We havent heard anything from inside the hallowed walls of Ewood, nor indeed from the man that matters John Williams.

There is some very interesting reading in the posts submitted by our members and Nicko alike.

My take on the matter is the same, lets wait until we hear an OFFICIAL ROVERS QUOTE.

ps Nicko, keep yr stories coming I find them interesting but I could never ever lower myself to purchase the Mirror <_<

Nicko your comments are appreciated by most - so please ignore the few mindless people that are just fed up of waiting. Most of us on here appreciate what info you provide us with, and it is good to get some inside info.

So ignore the few brainless ones

You, and Nicko are mistaking sceptiscism of DW and his suitability to take over our club, with critisism of Nicko and the information he has given us. Most of us have greatly appreciated his input but as stake holders in our club we have the right to question and test the verasity of any potential take over of the Rovers.

I personally hope Nicko continues to contribute to the board.

Exactly and very well put

It was one of his backers who did not like to see their name in the papers...check back to verify that.

And if I'm his PR man can you ask him to send the cash soon.

Personally I would like the owners (and their prospective backers) of my club to be 'public' we have had a lot of secrecy over the years, if we are going to change hands then I would like everything up front and open. As stated above please don't take my appraisal of Williams as personal criticism. You have filled a potential vacuum with pertinent and timely info which I'm sure took a bit of work to come by, much appreciated.

As for the mindless & brainless poster comments, I would remind the clearly very mindful poster flying off at the keyboard that this is a discussion board. Just because some of us choose to enter reasoned debate instead of being overcome with adulation is no reason to become offensive.

I want to clarify my earlier post... the summary of what I was trying to say is, fairplay to Nicko giving us the news, I hope that continues, when new news breaks. However, the constant re-hashing of certain parts of certain stories trying to "defend" himself and his stories from those that are skeptcial about the myriad of details is a pointless debate at this point, since the skeptics won't be convinced until the club bares all.

I'll defend Nikco's right to confront people attacking his professional credibility (like the PR-man attacks and the 'gullible' labels) to some extent, but at this point, its all just become a flame war with no end or point. We've reached the "agree to disagree" stage, until more details become public (if they ever do).

To be fair to Nicko- this time round he's saying the DW thing is as good as dead and its the LT that has exhumed the corpse.

So are we not being bought at all or by some foreign guy instead?

The conversation probably began and ended with one question and answer:

Can you provide the club with better than £7m non-returnable cash injections inflation adjusted annually for all the foreseeable future?

Nicko quoting DW: "I can provide £20m one off and the rest depends on performance of our business plan."

As brian potter explained, at that point the Trust could not legally sell to DW. DW has probably talked to Rovers, the Trust and Rothschilds and they will have listened politely.

No doubt if he was really trying to convince the club of his bona fides and the ability of his business plan to sustain the club going forwards, he will have disclosed the brilliant ideas Nicko keeps referring to. That means the club will know the marketing opportunities DW refers to and the fact that Nicko is not sharing them with us doesn't matter.

So, you're saying it took them 3 months to ask a question? I think it has gone further than you think. From what I'm reading the fact this might be dead in the water has less to do with the board rejecting DW than it does with him moving on.

Nicko, hoping you are keeping your ear to the ground regarding speculation linking Sparky with Chelsea now that Moaninho is a goner. Also wanting to be MB PC should any news you have go here or in the Mourinho leaves thread

All I heard yesterday was that Avram Grant would be put in charge when the bomb dropped...good job I had £3 on Mourinho at 28/1 to be the first casualty. :)

After that, who knows? Grant is Abramovich's pal and was brought in over Jose's head. Abramovich also brought in 'boffin' Mike Forde from Bolton and Jose left him in the academy. So there is a lot of politics going on.

There's also Frank Arnesen around to have his say and he would prefer a Dutchman.

However, before you can breathe easily...the fact that your manager is ex-Chelsea, a Chelsea fan and probably the best young Premier League manager around would have to be a concern.

Don't want to be picky but I'm struggling with the tenses here nicko. You said "All I heard yesterday was that Avram Grant would be put in charge when the bomb dropped" suggests that you should have put a hell of a lot more than 3 quid on it! Or can we take this as an example of 'journalistic licence' maybe? :rover:

There was only £3 available on Betfair at that price.

And I thought someone else would go first.

Didn't think it would kick off today - but Grant was always going to get the chance to step in.

His assistant will be a very interesting name.

But thanks to having a journalistic licence I will save that for the morning.

step in.

Err, it's Steve Clarke, Mourinho's assistant.

What is interesting is that he's been at the club for x million years and survived all the changes.

Kind of a Celtic version of Tony Parkes...
