Sky sports news have been showing the press conference of Bellamy being introduced at Liverpool.

He did the usual thing that ex-players do of thanking their previous manager blah blah blah. Can see him getting a frosty reception when we play Liverpool at Ewood <_<

I think if you reread the topic you'll get everyone's thoughts on that. No doubt in my mind that without the clause we could have got more than we did, having said that we got an ok fee, but certainly he was/is worth more.

Was he worth the 6 mil or should he have been sold for more?

any thoughts?

He's worth far more than that, he's at least a £15 million player. He has absolutely everything you can ask for in a footballer except height; pace, technique, awareness, can finish from close range or far out, works hard, inspires the team...if he was 6ft+ (and had a neck) he would be at Barcelona or Real Madrid by now.

Really enjoying reading the Bellamy stories this morning after his press conference yesterday.

Rafa Benitez says he can't believe how cheap he got him.

Benitez needs to stop rubbing it in, or it won't be safe for him to walk around Blackburn soon.

All water under the bridge now I'm afraid LeChuck.

Oh I know that, doesn't stop it hurting less though. :(

I was saying it more in hope that people will appreciate just what a fantastic player he was for us. If Thierry Henry wasn't in the Premiership I would be laying out a fair sum on him being top scorer next season.

Don't think so. I'm going to stick my neck out here and say that we got the best of Bellamy and that he won't be a huge success at Liverpool. Though this is the end of the matter for me, he's gone and I think he may live to regret it.

Good luck to him. Came in, did a great job, got his dream move. Good player, sorry he has gone. Not our problem (hamstrings / court cases) / player anymore. I'll not be booing him when he comes back on Boxing Day.

Can we shut this thread please, remembering what we had up front last season and looking at what we have now is very painful indeed...I'm sure we'll all get enough flash backs throughout the course of the coming season!

Bellamy:

"I am grateful to Mark Hughes and Blackburn, but I did have other opportunities when I left Newcastle, it wasn't quite 'come here, no-one else will have you'."

:(

That says it all really.

Duff, Dunn, Shearer and even Cole leaving were all wrenches in their own way...but with Bellamy it was all rather expected.

The King is Dead...Long Live the King...

...once we...erm...buy him that is...

So what Paul? I would expect John Stead to score at Wrexham.

That says it all really.

Duff Dunn and Shearer were wrenches right enough. But with Cole and Bellamy I can't quite put my finger on it but I never felt like they 'belonged' at Ewood and thet they were never ever going to stay too long anyway.

There'll be many more occasions and weekends this season when Bellamy scores Paul.

And each one will be like a knife in the guts given that we were daft enough to let him have a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for just 6m. Especially whenever he produces an effort like Portsmouth away.

The only thing I can suggest is to have an each way bet on CB for Premiership top scorer.

Henry is always hard to beat but if CB stays fit and is a resounding success for the scousers then there will at least be some financial compensation to offset the frustration. Can't see many other contenders if RVN packs his bags as expected.

CB is 16/1 generally in the outright betting.

And if he spends much of the season injured and isn't that successful then we haven't lost out much anyway.

Bellamy has now gone so for me I am no longer interested in what he does for Liverpool. I am concentrating on Jeffers and Roberts and hoping that Hughesy and his staff can unlock the talent that Jeffers has and make him a 25 goal a season man along with Jason Roberts. We have a £10m striker for nothing so that makes me very excited at the beginning of the season.

We have a striker who has done nothing since 2001 and has scored 3 goals in the last 3 seasons. It leaves me completely indifferent. The "Jansen replacement" as it were,

"Maybe in some quarters, we were viewed as a one-man team. I would argue that Craig Bellamy did very well for us, but for long periods of the season, we did very well without him." So says Hughes and he is quite right and that should be the end of it.
