Give our strikers a chance, Benni and Shabba look like they could be a real partnership.

Come the end of the season we might not need nor want Bellamy back.

Chris certainly for 30 minutes looked very promising and if he can get back to his pre-injury levels, he will be excellent. Bellamy had an exceptional season for us. He left because he wanted to go and play for Liverpool. If that were not to work out, if he were to become available at a fee we could afford-ideally without a clause-it would make sense to go in for him.

Will he come back. its down to how much do liverpool want him, and and much do there want for him

It is also down to if he would want to come back. I know that he enjoyed his time here and I know that he repsects our coaching staff and probably our players as well, but he is a Liverpool fan and he may be happier sitting on the bench at Anfield then running on the pitch at Ewood. I can't see him ever returning to be honest, except for when he is in opposition colours.

Alright, my question about Bellars coming back was deliberately perjorative.

But, any bets on him being at Liverpool this time next year?

Any suggestions of any management team apart from Rovers' who can manage him?

It is a moot point whether Rafa can handle him but McDermott clearly cannot and he will see more day-to-day of McDermott than Benitez.

PS Eddie, Stevie Gerard doesn't think Bellamy is a Liverpool fan so why should you?

Has McDermott gone back to Liverpool? I thought he was coach at newcastle.

The guy obviously has an extremely high opinion of himself. In fairness, we didn't have any problems with his attitude, but that's probably because Hughes knew how to handle him. It seems like he just doesn't know how to behave.

Don't believe Celtic had a problem either?

Bellamy.

1. He's a good striker ....... but not a great striker.

and

2. An massively overinflated opinion of himself ..... he really thinks that he's the latter. That explains why he thinks that he is too good for BRFC and also why we are unlikely to see him stoop to our level again.

"It was a ridiculously cheap fee I went to Blackburn for, it's not nice for me to be remembered for that.

"What was it, about £3.75m? That hurts. I know that but that is the game we play."

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/e...rem/5369712.stm

Has anyone else noticed this? (Couldn't find it anywhere)

3.75m? If that is the case then maybe the 6m we got wasn't so bad after all!

He's a well balanced individual..... he has chips on both his shoulders.

Did anyone see his reaction to Liverpool's first goal on Saturday. Head in hands after hitting the post and continued to look p'd off once Garcia had stuck in the rebound. Shouldn't he be jumping around being a boyhood Liverpool fan?

Still a great player though.

Yeah I noticed that aswell DP.

To be fair, most players don't seem to get overly excited unless it's them that has actually scored. Aswell, I think the fact that they supported a particular club as a lad goes out of the window when they actually become a professional player. It was a merely a coincidence that Liverpool were in for him and he used to be a supporter.

My thought was more he should be going for the rebound. Started having his head in hands well before the rebound was hit.

I'd take him back in flash - he was brilliant for us.

The wounds have healed, he had a great year with us, and many said (correctly) that he was our best striker since Shearer.

I wish him all the best.

I'm with you.

There was an interesting article in the Daily Telegraph called tlking point which said that Bellamy's game is based on being on the shoulder of the last defender. Benitez doesn't play that way and Bellamy gets the ball to his feet, with his back to defenders.

Unless he can adapt, he might end up going the same way as Baros, Owen and Cisse.

Bellamy's game for us was almost a free role I thought. I was amazed how good he was at dropping off into the hole. Defences were worried about the ball in behind and that opened up loads of space in front of the defence. We were missing that earlier this season when teams were playing further up the field.

To have Bellamy just playing for flick ons is a waste IMHO. He's a better player than just a speed freak.

I suspect that his confidence is taking a knock. He's not the big fish anymore and is being forced to play in a set way, as opposed to the freer reign we gave him.

I don't wish him all the best, but I would too take him back in a flash.

Just think about it, both McCarthy and Nonda are strong, elegant players, but they don't have that frightening pace - which makes you think: "Yes, he's all alone against three opponents, this might be dangerous!". Bellamy has is, Henry has it, Rooney has it - a few players on the continent has it - but they are few and far between.

The closest player in the current Rovers team.. Brett Emerton. How sad is that? :D

Okay, that was a bit over the top, I am very pleased with the team Sparky has made for us, the point was I miss a player like that.

From what I have seen of Jeffers that is his game too. Both very dangerous players if their team mates have the ability to play them in quickly, but about useless if they get no service. I think genuine pace and this ability is what Wenger likes in his strikers and what made him part with so much money for Jeffers.

The Daily Telegraph's correspondent obviously didn't see Bellamy in his pomp for Rovers last season.

Bellamy's greatest asset is his pace, which Rovers harnessed in devastating fashion last season by feeding him the early ball and giving him the freedom to run from deep and down the flanks. The result was some of the most spectacular goals scored by a Rovers player for many years.

Robbie Keane is a good example of a striker who plays "on the shoulder of the last defender", but certainly not Bellamy.
