thenodrog Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Even more stunning when remebering a similar attempt he made during the World Cup that missed by a country mile.

SouthAussieRover Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Even more stunning when remebering a similar attempt he made during the World Cup that missed by a country mile. And yet he has 11 goals in 14 International appearances which is quite stunning. The entire England squad was less than stunning at the last WC.
thenodrog Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Another game for Bellamy and he still can't get off the mark for his heroes. He definitely seems Benitez's 3rd choice striker now and it could turn sour if this continues and his chums on the terraces start to turn against him too.
Eddie Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 And yet he has 11 goals in 14 International appearances which is quite stunning. The entire England squad was less than stunning at the last WC. It is, but I'll still have my doubts over Crouch because he has yet to do it against quality sides. His goals have come against sides like Jamaica and T&T, I'll be won over when I see him knocking them in against top sides.
1864roverite Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 TBH He looks a totally different player to the one we saw at Ewood. Bellamy looks like a liitle fish in a big pond and he doesnt appear to be relishing it. Come back little fellow, you were idolised at Ewood, those thieving scouse gits will demoralise you on the pitch, rob your house and car and nick from your pockets so come on home to where you belong. A 2.5m bid with Lucas in px should see him coming home.
Florida Rover Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 A 2.5m bid with Lucas in px should see him coming home. Let's just PRETEND that such a move was desired in the january transfer window, could it even happen?I thought there was some rule about a player shifting back to a club that had sold him within a year.Is that right?
RevidgeBlue Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Was speaking to a Liverpool fan today who said he had seen every second of every minute of all their games so far and he was of the view that Bellamy was making some superb runs and taking up great positions but his team mates were failing to pick him out. This guy thought CB might have had eight or nine goals were the rest of the team on his wavelength. Oh dear how sad never mind. Long may the drought continue and we'll hopefully see him back at Ewood come July to spearhead our Champions League campaign.

I believe the rule is that a player may not switch clubs twice within the same season (unless on loan). I don't believe that it has anything to do with whether or not he is going back to his old club.
James No. 7 Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Was speaking to a Liverpool fan today who said he had seen every second of every minute of all their games so far and he was of the view that Bellamy was making some superb runs and taking up great positions but his team mates were failing to pick him out. This guy thought CB might have had eight or nine goals were the rest of the team on his wavelength. He really benefited from being the main striker at Ewood, where he was picked out at almost every opportunity. A (potentially, injuries permitting) 20 goals a season striker, he's gone back to being a 10 goals a season striker again. Come back Bellers and all will be forgiven!
den Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Bellers likes the early ball and Liverpool don't.
broadsword Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 How would he fit in with us having Roberts, McCarthy and Nonda (perhaps we will get him permanently). I would be shocked if he re-signed. To him we were merely a stepping-stone.
thenodrog Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Correct Bryan. For him to come back would be a disaster. He thinks he is too big for BRFC and if he came back his attitude would be all wrong from the start, and he could easily upset the rest of the squad. Forget him, never look back. From what I have seen recently strikers are not what we need at present. imo.
Bobby G Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 He wont come back but I think Bellers may have underestimated the harmonious, friendly and supportive atmosphere at Ewood. Like a small company where everyones knows each other, and everyones like family. And maybe we all underestimated the influence of Sparky and Bowen on Bellers to actually produce his most productive season for us.
Ozz Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 In fairness to the Gargoyle, he did have a few poor games for us, particularly before chrimbo. But as of now, it looks to this writer that Mark Hughes has got a better front line now than last season, and made a profit too.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Liverpool's style of play isn't going to bring out the best in Bellamy, he likes the ball early and they prefer to pass their way towards goal, shame isn't it.
FourLaneBlue Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 So much for Bellamy the leader... ...in his first game as captain Wales are losing 5-1 (!) at home to the mighty...Slovakia! Hope he doesn't take it out on us next week... Toshak out perhaps? Maybe Sav will be back for Wales sooner than we thought...
Perth_Rover Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 I believe the rule is that a player may not switch clubs twice within the same season (unless on loan). I don't believe that it has anything to do with whether or not he is going back to his old club. I think that is only players under 23?????
Grabbi Graeme Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Over 15 mins to go and Slovakia look like they could get more, think it's time for Toshack to swallow his pride and ask Savage to play for Wales again
RovertheHill Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Over 15 mins to go and Slovakia look like they could get more, think it's time for Toshack to swallow his pride and ask Savage to play for Wales again Somehow don't get the view he's that type of person - but surely they are only one more beating away from the press and fans demanding it
thenodrog Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 1-5? Even Savage aint gonna make that much difference. Anyway he's 32 with more than enough games to play this season for BRFC. Long live Tosh!
thenodrog Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 This quote from Bellamy on the hammering that accompanied his captaincy debut is hilarious. I wonder if he realises what he has said? "We've always lacked depth as a small nation, but a lot of players out there aren't getting regular club games." Full article here ....... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/i...als/5408900.stm .......and no mention of Sav at the bottom either!
gumboots Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 But a nice bit of respect for what Mark Hughes did for Wales. Bridge-building perhaps for the lack of respect he showed when rushing out of the Ewood door?
herbergeehh Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Doubt it, Bellamy's not building bridges, he just happens to respect Sparky..
gumboots Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Wasn't suggesting any ulterior motive behind it but he did rather jump at the chance to go to Liverpool and left with somewhat indecent haste and I just felt he was saying that despite that he still does have respect
RevidgeBlue Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Regardless of what comes out of his gob, or what he has or hasn't done for Liverpool, Bellamy's performance on the pitch v Cyprus was a pleasure to behold. Every time the ball went forward in his direction I still felt a spine tingling chill of anticipation. And it was only Wales, not Rovers.
