gazsimm Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Todays Telegraph mentions David Nugent, i reckon he'd be a great signing, he's young got pace and a top top finisher, JW's denied this story but he always does that. he is a good player but he might be a bit to expensive for us and we need a new left back and CM more then a forward

West Sussex Rover Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 he is a good player but he might be a bit to expensive for us and we need a new left back and CM more then a forward Having said that, he might just be the speedy link up between midfield and frontline we need...! One thing is certain though, if we sign Nugent, we wont be making Nonda's move perminent. Dont think Nonda has put in enough to make his more perminent anyway...
USABlue Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 we need Bellers back a.s.a.p but i can't see liverpool getting rid of him that quickley maybe we could put a cheeky load bid in for him in January Isn't there some rule where he would not be allowed to return to us for 12 Months?
Rover4ever Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I've no problem with him as he just improved his career as he saw it. Just find it funny that some are desperate not to accept that he used us as a stepping stone. He did and, for many players, that is what we are. How many players actually maintained their Rovers form after transferring to the "bigger place"? I feel we saw the best of Shearer, Sutton, Duff, and now Bellamy. All left us for more lucrative places, but their form at Ewood was always better than what they did at their later clubs
AndyR Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I am probably being a cynic but when Bellers said he was going to Liverpool for a smaller weekly wage it probably didn't include an approx £2m signing on fee which I am sure would have balanced it up. Just a shame he can't get a game in a side where even if he does the mananagement seem to have no idea how to get the best out of him. Shame for us, can't say I'm really bothered about him now and can't see him back at Ewood.
thenodrog Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I can't see Liverpool getting rid of him anyway Wait until he spits in Benitez face. What I dislike about him is that he directly lied about the clause to the fans merely to make his life a little easier. Nonetheless he is a fantastic player and there is absolutely no doubt that Hughes would take him back if that was an option, and I support that. He should have kept on the stepping stone- he'd be earning 50% more than he is now, Good grief! Do you two believe everything that you read in the papers? Anyway he should have been under orders from BRFC not to reveal such as it would have been awful PR.
philipl Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Agent and both clubs confirmed he was offered £60K per week to stay at Ewood and is on £40K at Anfield. There would be a signing on fee of course but £2m seems a bit high even though the agent had engineered an under-value transfer fee. Of course his win bonuses and goal fees will be mounting up nicely... not.
92er Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 When it was announced we were going to sign Bellamy, I was far from being overwhelmed. I knew he had pace-apparently his main attribute-and he missed a lot of chances. He was also an abnoxious twit. I was therefore rather impressed with him when I saw him play against Huddersfield. He played for the team. Without going into all the details of his many successes in many matches I felt he became a team player, he showed he could put away hard and easy chances, and his pace gave us something we didn't have before. He also appeared to improve his behaviour on the pitch. I was very disappointed when he went for such a comparatively low fee. Did he make a mistake? Would he admit to making a mistake? I suspect his answer to both would be no. On the other hand, he might well have had his best ever season with us. A contrary point of view o Bellamy comes from a pal, who is a Palace fan. He watched a number of our matches on SKY and his impression of Bellamy was he was still as big a prat as ever. Yes, he might be a decent striker but he wound Tony up because of his on-field antics. When Johnson's fee to Everton was agreed, I thought Tony's view would be similar to mine-a lot of money for a Championship striker who had not really come off in the Premiership- I think he scored a lot of penalties when Palace were in the top division. I was wrong. Tony thought Bellamy's season was a one-off and that he wouldn't maintain the same high standards, whereas as he thought Johnson would do well. At the moment Tony looks as though he got it right for this season! And maybe for the future.
1864roverite Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Bellamy does not fit into the Liverpool mode of playing in their current formation. In fact whatever formation they play Bellamy doesnt seem to be able to fit in full stop. Rover should raid them for him in January and take young warnock as well giving Lucas in the opposite direction. pipe dreams maybe but Rovers could again revive what is becoming a flagging career for the welshman
Bobby G Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I think deep inside he is realizing that what we offered him was more than he actually thought.
pleasure Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 another reason why bellamy's playing time is being restricted might be : a friend of mine and liverpool ST holder, told me : bellers has had a bust up with an influential player (bellamy ribbed and insulted him over his personal problems). could just be chinese whispers,......but

Bing Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Well I heard from a Liverpool fan on another forum that Robbie Fowler and Steve McManaman were watching the Liverpool game at a city centre pub on Sunday. Fowler was telling everyone that all the lads think Bellamy is "a little prick" and told him ahead of the missed pen at Brum, "if you try anything cocky i'll ******* kill you." I'd guess that if Fowler doesn't like him then Gerrard and Carragher are likely to be of the same opinion.
herbergeehh Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Doesn't sound too likely though, why would they be watching the game at some pub? Surely both of them can afford PPV.. for the record, I think Fowler, McManaman and Bellamy all look like pricks.
rover_groo Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 What I dislike about him is that he directly lied about the clause to the fans merely to make his life a little easier. Nonetheless he is a fantastic player and there is absolutely no doubt that Hughes would take him back if that was an option, and I support that. How can you remotely dislike him for that Joey? We've gone over this time and tima again, but can you not realise that if he had confirmed the clause then he would have been accused of looking to want away from Rovers 3 months before the season was over. I certainly don't think that it was an intentional lie. I spoke to him during the last game of the season and without the media surrounding him, he then confirmed the clause. Anyhow, hes gone and we're working away without him and apart from recent league form were coping very well without him and were £2-3 million better off. He's not hit good form for Liverpool and that non of our concern, but perhaps its something that a few of us can possibly sneer at. However when he played for us he gave his all and his goals catapulted us into a top 6 finish!!
Bing Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Doesn't sound too likely though, why would they be watching the game at some pub? Surely both of them can afford PPV.. They were with some other friends and seemingly enjoying an all-day drinking session.
philipl Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Tossack had a pop at Liverpool before last night's game saying they have Bellamy playing in a straight jacket.

rover_groo Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Didnt we make a 1 million pount profit, thats why many were angry. Got him for 5 million, sold for 6??? He was bought in the region of £3million. Didn't pay anywhere near £5million that people keep branding about.
philipl Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 In £3.75m with a £500K clause that Bellamy's performance activated, out £6m with some sort of £500K payment picked up by Liverpool instead of Rovers was what I understood.
LeftWinger Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 I reckon we take Warnock in a straight swap deal for Lucas - as long as they give us Bellamy on loan till the end of the season.
USABlue Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 I reckon we take Warnock in a straight swap deal for Lucas - as long as they give us Bellamy on loan till the end of the season. I'll ask again, isn't there a 12 month period that he can not return to Rovers
rover_groo Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I'll ask again, isn't there a 12 month period that he can not return to Rovers Can't see that being the case USA. Why do you ask this? Do you feel that Williams, Hughes knew that it wouldn't work out and he would be looking to come back, but thought he would upset the squad too much. Would think that we would have first refusal if anything.

I could be on the wrong track though.
