Jimmy Jupiter Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Hope Hughes does everything possible to bring him back.
krislu Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 A fair chance he will be a Blackburn player next season then. I just hope we don't end up paying over the odds for him, or trade MGP away. There will be a lot of clubs after him though, and I'm not that sure Bellamy would be that keen on a Ewood Park return.
grizfoot Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Four strikers in McCarthy, Bellamy, Roberts & Derbyshire would be an awesome strikeforce for next season. Lets just hope we can bring Bellers back and keep hold of McCarthy.
LeChuck Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Moaning about his working relationship with Benitez? Sounds like he may just be craving a link up with Hughes again. I think our biggest rivals will be Aston Villa. If I were to put money on it, I would put it on them ahead of us...if only because of the 'never go back' thing that exists in football.
tchocky Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 We should definitely have a good chance if we are interested. I hope we go for him. Would complement McCarthy well, and give us yet another type of striker. I suppose all the midtable teams will be after him though.. Should be interesting. Odds on him staying at Liverpool......?
adopted scouser Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 If ever there was a cause that needed money throwing at it .... this is it. Drive your Bentley back up the 58 Quasi, start having fun again.
joey_big_nose Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 I have gone from thinking bellamy coming back is a moon shot to thinking we have a very very good cahnce of seeing him back at Ewood. The problem seems a) he wants to play regularly he wants to have freedom on the pitch No CL club will offer him that. Newcastle won't want him back (obviously), Spurs have as many top strikers as Liverpool so the same problem. So realistically he is looking at 11 clubs 9newly promoted sides won't get him) and, as an outside bet, Celtic but I think he wants to stay in the Prem. I reckon its going to be us, Villa or Everton. And i think Hughsy and Savage will swing it. Everton might get European fooball so that could be a hurdle. If he is dead set on coming back to us I think we may be able to force a sale for the same price we let him go. If we hold onto everyone and we sign Bellamy then i am going to be very very happy.
EwoodGlory Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 not sure where this is from yet, got it from another forum Craig Bellamy tonight rubbished suggestions he has no working relationship with Rafael Benitez, branding the story "complete garbage." Said Bellamy: "A journalist working for BBC Radio Wales has told people I have problems with Rafa and haven't even got a working relationship with him. That's complete garbage. "I have gone on record recently and I will say it again now that I have learnt more from Rafael Benitez than any other coach I have worked with. "I am a much better player for the time I've spent working with him and if I do go on to manage at some point in the future he's the model I'll use in my career. I can't make my respect for him any clearer than that. "I am even more disappointed that we are approaching a massive game on Tuesday against Chelsea and I am having to waste time responding to this nonsense."
Bobby G Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 This is the same Bellers who claimed last season that he didnt have a clause in his contract, and justified it by the fact that the fans dont understand football. Obviously, he has to come out and deny the statements tonight cause he still harbors hopes of being involved in the Champions League ties.
T4E Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 We only need one signing this summer. We've got the best squad since we won the league, we should spend every penny we have on getting Bellers back.
Alan75 Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 The BBC’s Malcolm Allen was covering the Liverpool game away to Portsmouth this afternoon and said he spoke to Bellamy before the game. Allen said Bellamy told him he was unhappy at the club and wanted to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, to play for a club where he could appear week-in week-out. Allen said: “I spoke to him before the game here on the pitch and he told me it has been a very disappointing year for him, that he hasn’t got a working relationship with Rafa Benítez, that they hardly speak to each other at the moment and that the situation has become clear that for the sake of his own career he wants to play consistently, he wants to play in the first team week in week out and he hasn’t been getting those opportunities at Liverpool.” LINK
RevidgeBlue Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 We only need one signing this summer. We've got the best squad since we won the league, we should spend every penny we have on getting Bellers back. Amen to that.
USABlue Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 He'll pick Villa I think. O'Neill ties, new investors, potential to do big things. Weigh that against 18K a week watching and it's not too hard to make up your mind is it.
Bobby G Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 I personally think he wont come back either. He will probably feel more challenged at Villa.
Eddie Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 I don't see Bellamy as a player who will choose his club based on where he will be challenged most. I'm not sure if he'll end up here simply because of the price, but I think if it is between us, Villa and Celtic then he'd probably come here unless there was a huge difference in money.
cn_barlow Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 If he doesnt come back it will not be the end of the world....with the £8m or so it would cost to buy him Hughes will get someone else who could score us 20 goals a season. How much will Ashton cost if WHam go down?
philipl Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 How much will Ashton cost if WHam go down? A lot of pain killers if the recent doubts about his ability to recover are correct. It is usually the forwards who lead the way when prices rise. The price of forwards therefore will be a lead indicator on whether the TV fee boost is feeding through to transfer fees this summer. I notice the Star's story priced Bellamy at £4m. I guess Bellamy's motor mouth got engaged when he was chatted to by a BBC Wales reporter then his agent/common sense reminded him he was perhaps one game and and a public denial away from a European Cup Final, perhaps.
92er Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 He's coming back. It's a done deal. £8,000,000. My source sits 2 seats away at home matches. His source sits behind us and goes to pretty much all matches-1st team, home Reserve and Brockhall Junior games.
philipl Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Not as good a leak as Rosie's was but probably worth a flutter.
Bobby G Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Your source, and his source! How reliable is this? I dont think anything is done at the end of April. Dont forget people had the Dunn deal done and dusted 6 months before it happened although we all know it went down to the wire with a phone call 10 minutes from signing for Notlob.
