EwoodGlory Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 He's coming back. It's a done deal. £8,000,000. My source sits 2 seats away at home matches. His source sits behind us and goes to pretty much all matches-1st team, home Reserve and Brockhall Junior games. Is this good enough to put money on then? The last time he signed someone on here had some inside info' and I won £60 from the bookies

joey_big_nose Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 BELLAMY RUBBISHES RAFA STORY Absolutely crucially he failed to say that he isn't leaving. He is just trying to salvage his working relationahip so he does not miss a CL final and the last games of the season. He is going. And I reckon he is coming here.
EwoodGlory Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 I contacted Skybet and they are offering odds of where he will be next season. Blackburn Rovers 6/4 Aston Villa 5/2
modes98 Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 He may drift over the next few weeks if there is no speculation. Out of interest what were the odds of him staying with liverpool? I assume that is favourite.
EwoodGlory Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Im not sure, they were the only ones they gave me. Going from other markets i have seen like this, the odds on him staying will be bigger than Rovers and Villa
joey_big_nose Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 If he doesnt come back it will not be the end of the world....with the £8m or so it would cost to buy him Hughes will get someone else who could score us 20 goals a season. How much will Ashton cost if WHam go down? I rate Ashton highly too, the most out of any youngish English striker coming through. He is also in that nexus of beig one of the best players outside the top four but not quite in the bracket of being good enough or proven enough to sign (unless Liverpool have another Crouch/Pennant moment). I guess the benchmark for him in price would be Andy Johnson who went to Everton for 8.6m. However West Ham with their support and new financial backer have a much better chance of holding on to him than Palace did with Johnson, even if they go down. Plus the new TV deal could mean more clubs, offering higher prices, will be in for him. Ultimately I think Bellamy will prove cheaper, has not been seriously injured this season, has a good working relationship with Hughes, and would not be as predjudiced against the club in terms of support/location. Realistically I think we have a chance with the Welshman whereas with Defoe, Ashton, Darren Bent etc we are going to struggle against Vllla, Everton, Newcastle, Spurs... Plus, at the bottom line, Craig is a better player than any of them apart from possibly Ashton. And it is debatable whether he will come back as promising as he was.
John Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Reading around and it seems Sunderland will go for Bellamy. If he is to leave, I can see a lot of clubs going in for him.
Bobby G Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Yes and maybe he will find the challenge of playing with Sunderland a big one. The only downside for us is the fact that he was with us only a year ago and he may not want to come back so to speak and would rather experience something new...Lets hope that isnt the case and the lure of playing with a stable club, Hughes, a more mature squad and the challenge of breaking into the top 6 is good enough for him.
broadsword Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Ha! Bellamy playing for Roy Keane. Can't really see that one!
Fife Rover Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Moaning about his working relationship with Benitez? Sounds like he may just be craving a link up with Hughes again. I think our biggest rivals will be Aston Villa. If I were to put money on it, I would put it on them ahead of us...if only because of the 'never go back' thing that exists in football. Bellamy had already played for M.O'N as a loan player at Celtic before he turned Celtic down and signed for Rovers. This was when Celtic made him an offer of full-time employment and agreed a fee with Newcastle.
The1mattjansen Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Come home Bellers and take us to the champs league.
mattyc2422 Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Get him. We'd be simply unstoppable on the counter.
Bobby G Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Sunday Mirror says Villa have beat us to him because they offer him 60k so he doesnt have to take a pay cut whilst he secretly credits MO'N for getting his career back on track after the Newcastle fiasco. Hmm, werent we ready to break the bank to keep him at Ewood and offer him 60k, yet he joined Liverpool and accepted a lesser offer? Correct me if Im wrong.
thenodrog Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 yet he joined Liverpool and accepted a lesser offer? I've never even believed that from the start. Villa have big US backing apparently and we all know that money talks loudest in football.
modes98 Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Yeah i saw that on tribal football. Littered with mistakes. From whats been said around here we offered him more than that to stay, whereas he turned that down for a wage around 30-35k at liverpool. The way the clause bit is written is not very good either, it fails to make clear it was CL clubs. Equally it only seems to state that villa want him and not as the title suggests that they have his signing sealed. The pull of working with Martin O'Neill obviously wasn't that great for him for he would have taken the drop in level and played for him in the scottish league.
robborover Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 yes we offered 60k, but he wanted the liverpool move because he does/used to support them. only problem i could see is if we payed benni a huge amount (ie: benni took most of bellamy's wage increase). get him and we would be a good bet for a top 6 place next season.
den Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Always smile when I read about players wages. How does anyone have a clue how much we offered Bellars?
ABBEY Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Come home Bellers and take us to the champs league. home?? 1 season and its home..im confused? honestlty I dont think theres a cat in hells chance of him coming back to us.
joey_big_nose Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Hmm, werent we ready to break the bank to keep him at Ewood and offer him 60k, yet he joined Liverpool and accepted a lesser offer? Correct me if Im wrong. I suppose we could hae a big problem with wages. We could afford 60k last season but since then we have signed Warnock, Dunn, McCarthy, Ooijer, Roberts and Samba and only lost Neill. Our wage budget has to have massively inflated, at least 100k a week more imo.
modes98 Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 We could afford 60k last season but since then we have signed Warnock, Dunn, McCarthy, Ooijer, Roberts and Samba and only lost Neill. Our wage budget has to have massively inflated, at least 100k a week more imo. Warnock & Roberts are mid range wagers Dunn, Jeffers & Henchoz is on a heavily pay as you play deal McCarthy & Ooijer, quality costs wages Samba, 3rd string cb in germany and not on alot Bellamy, Neill, Dickov, Amoruso, Gresko, Kuqi, Douglas, Matteo, McEveley, hopefully Gray & Jeffers will all have left in that time frame. Our wage bill will have increased but not by that much i'd guess. Maybe our new investor(s) can dip into their pockets
robborover Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 Maybe our new investor(s) can dip into their pockets ???? No real link to that modes! It wouldn't suprise me if samba got a new deal after his performances either. It really depends on how far rovers want to gamble. bellamy is an awesome player but 8 million is a lot of money to us. What would happen if we used all/most of our money to get him and he got injured for a few months? Here's a few questions: how much do we have to spend (eg more than 8 mil?) how flexible is our wage structure? is it worth finding a new tugay first? is mgp and bentley hanging around for next season? what will happen to nonda?
Bobby G Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 If after all the money that is coming in we dont have at least 10 million to spend then it will be disappointing. Id rather one or two quality buys rather than 4 squad players. At this point, if we want to improve our starting lineup there are only a couple of positions we can realistically look at. And with that mindset its gonna cost money and thats what ambition is all about. IF Reid, Ooijer and Savage all return to the forms they were in before injury then I wouldnt think it will be a problem to spend 8 million on Bellamy, a proven player at the highest level, who will add the one thing this team lacks more than anything, pace.
modes98 Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 No real link to that modes! is it worth finding a new tugay first? is mgp and bentley hanging around for next season? what will happen to nonda? lol dont be so serious all the time Mr Robinson If anyone can find one it's sparky, i think it's just a case of waiting for someone to jump out at you. Maybe Muamba if Bowen has been watching him recently? Bentley yes, MGP is more up for debate but i'd like to see him here for a season or 2 more before he goes to his bigger club. Come May 14th a plane trip to Roma. Bellamy is a good option if he becomes available, but it depends upon which areas sparky feels he has to strengthen.
