modes98 Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 Koumas reminds me of Craig Hignett. Good ball player, scores plenty of goals from midfield, lacks pace, can't tackle back and spent most of his time in the lower leagues. Always been impressed by Koumas. An attacking midfielder with alot to offer a premiership club. Today he was the heart and centre of every WBA move and not to mention a couple of stunning, quick breaks himself. Taking on a few players then only to be tackled by the impressive Tyrone Mears, just avoiding a penalty. As said above Hughes and his staff know Koumas well and haven't been tempted in previous transfer windows and i doubt that'll change now. Although i would love him to play in the

Exiled_Rover Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 We can say goodbye to Giles Barnes, heard we were linked with him a couple of weeks ago. That's a good thing if you ask me; he'd have been ludicrously overpriced. As for Koumas, well obviously I'm going to defer to the judgement of Hughes and his backroom staff. He looked good yesterday, but who knows if he can do that in the Prem.
philipl Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Why did the Telegraph give the story that angle ? From a Rovers perspective it should have been written along the lines "Blackburn Rovers face intense competition from Aston Villa " ete... Bizarre editing and a good way of alienating readers. The local reporting of Rovers is simply abysmal. You can imagine that if Ferguson were Manager at Ewood, Neild and the LT editor would have the half life of a wet follicle on Tim Howard's head. Back to Bellamy, I think it is pretty clear that when the liverpool Yanks asked for £12m, the Rovers' response was curt. Lets watch Lerner and Gillett Hicks slug it out and see if there are any pieces to pick up if Villa get the price back into doable territory. I don't expect this will be a repeat of Dunn/Bolton but that has to be a outside chance. At least Bellamy has kicked West Ham into touch.
brfc fan Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 He looked good yesterday, but who knows if he can do that in the Prem. Ye of little faith!
Roar of the Rover Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Jason Koumas was MOM for me yesterday, everytime he got the ball he just ran at the Derby players, most of them who just couldn't handle him and bought him down.
Presty On Tour Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 kounas is not good enough at prem level, he cant cut it on the international stage and would struggle to get in our side as we have plenty of competition for places in centre midfield, tugay, savage, reid, dunn, mokoena and bentley can do a job in there. i think we only need players to strenghen areas and tbh we are looking well tidy in depth in central midfield imo.
Boz Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I was quite impressed with Derby's right back Mears, he's the ex North End player currently on loan at Derby from West Ham. He seemed athletic, got forward well with a good touch and put himself about too.
G Somerset Rover Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 IF, and it's a big if, we were after a right back then surely we should go in for Jagielka of Sheffield Utd. Reports this morning suggest he's off to Everton because he has a minimum release clause after their relegation. As for Koumas, as many have said, Hughes and his men will know all about him- but I too liked his directness yesterday and I think that he would be worth a gamble by a premiership manager.
Exiled_Rover Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 What about that Baird bloke from Southampton? Thought we were after him at one point?
tcj_jones Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I believe he was also voted their player of the season by the fans.

And an Everton youth academy player would come to us over Everton because of? Intertoto-games? Agree on Koumas, if Hughes can keep him from signing to Celtic or Villa, worth the risk IMO too.
Ninjathunder Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Beattie's being linked again with a move. Both for footballing and personal reasons I would not like to see him back at the club I love.
pksrover Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Gamst have made some ambiguous comments to norwegian media today while he's training with the norwegian national team.. I've translated the whole article here..I reckon a few of the statements are taken out of context.. Tottenham was once again in touch with Morten Gamst Pedersens advisors today to try and sign the norwegian. He personally waits on a offer from Liverpool which also is reported to be interested in the norwegian. The Blackburn player practiced finishing on todays international training on Bislett, and his left foot is so special that Tottenham once again tries to sign the Vadso-born winger. But to Gamst its more tempting to join his norwegian team-mate in Liverpool. "Liverpool is a good club, no doubt about that, says Gamst Pedersen to NRK (equal to BBC in England) The Champions League finalist is looking for a new leftwinger, and in according to NRK's sources Gamst Pedersen is on their priority list. Liverpool player John Arne Riise have also heard about the rumours. "It has been a lot of speculations, but we have to see what he choose to do, says John Arne Riise - What do you think? "It will be nice if we'll get another norwegian here, also because we most of the times plays together at the national team as well, but its not very good to get too excited too early, says Riise. After the internationals against Malta and Hungary, Gamst will discuss his future with his advisors. "The transfer window doesn't open before 1st of July, and before that its important internationals and holiday, so we have to wait and see. I am still a Blackburn player and happy to be that, says Gamst Pedersen. - Where do you think you are playing next year? "I don't know, says Gamst with a sly smile on his face
modes98 Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Tottenham was once again in touch with Morten Gamst Pedersens advisors today to try and sign the norwegian. That doesn't sound like a legal approach to me. There is a space opening up at liverpool with zenden leaving, can't believe as a man utd fan, that he wants to go there so much.
Roar of the Rover Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 My brothers been telling me all week but i still don't belive him, i can't find any link on the net or anything but i've heard we're signing Giovanni Dos Santos form Barcalona. He's 18, Mexican and he plays in Midfield/Attacking Midfield, he still aint made any appreances for Barca though. But my brothers friend is a good mate of Matty Derbyshire and he also mentioned we're geting some Mexican Lad in, So we'll just have to wait and see......... Some Clips of the Lad: I still don't Belive my brother though!!
Guest shoppybrfc Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 He'll be another reserve team player then like Martin Olsson, nothing to get excited about.
Roar of the Rover Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 He'll be another reserve team player then like Martin Olsson, nothing to get excited about. But they've really hyped him up, they're calling him the next Ronaldinho. Just Google him, you'll see what i mean.
HairwayToSteven Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 But they've really hyped him up, they're calling him the next Ronaldinho. Just Google him, you'll see what i mean. He's extremely good in Football Manager '07, which should be a credible source by anybody's standards . Once again I'm excited, but it's not very likely this calibre of youngsters will find their way to Rovers. Still it would be great to do a "Febregas".
Neil Weaver Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 But they've really hyped him up, they're calling him the next Ronaldinho. Just Google him, you'll see what i mean. Before you get all excited, look back a few pages............. link
pksrover Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Before you get all excited, look back a few pages............. link Giovanni Dos Santos DO actually exist compard to that wind up the other day. would have been cool if Rovers had managed to get hold such a talent, but I won't belive it before I read the news on the official website..which, most likely, means never EDIT: Just watched the videos of Givoanni Dos Santos now, and he's a very selfish player. Especially in that video when he played with the Barcelona first team against Tigres he tried to do too much on his own instead of playing a quick and easy pass. Was just clips of what he did though, not fair to judge him on that basis really...
Roar of the Rover Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Before you get all excited, look back a few pages............. link But hes talking about Roberto Dos Santos not Giovanne, and this guys Mexican not Brazillian.
Daje Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 According to norwegian paper Dagbladet, Gamsts agent Rune Hauge is working actively to secure him a move to one of the "big 5" (sic) ManU, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool or Spurs this summer. All of the mentioned clubs are said to monitor him closely A summary availible online in norwegian: http://www.dagbladet.no/sport/2007/05/30/502056.html

By no stretch of the imagination can Spurs be considered as big a club as L/pool, Manyoo, Arsenal and Chelsea.

LeftWinger Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Lee Hughes to Oldham Looks like Lee Hughes is joining Oldham after 3 years "on the riggs". Think it's a disgrace he's being let out after only 3 years despite killing 2 and paralysing another.
