adopted scouser Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Ranieri appears destined for Man City. But that's old news surely ? Sky Sports earlier today ?
jim mk2 Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Also reported that Scott Parker's wages at West Ham will exceed the £72,000 per week that Lucas Neill (West Ham's current top earner) is receiving. No wonder he left Ewood !
Hypo-Luxa Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 I've said it before but I'll say it again. Rovers hold ALL the cards in regard to Benni staying/leaving. Assuming MH wants Benni to stay but because he wants out he throws a hissy fit: All MH has to do is decide if he wants to play him, and if he does he puts him in the team. Now Benni can either play to his best to show the world how good he is, and therefore Rovers benefit; or he can sulk and play poorly; in which case any club that is thinking of signing him will look elsewhere. Also remember he is almost 30 now, he only has one more season at the most when any CL side would even think about it. Good point Fife. I really must say that having benni back at even 75% capacity is better than no Benni. As long as he keeps his pinings for CL clubs down, I'd be ok with it. However, I just do not think I could go through another half season of a whining player a la Lucash. It was enough of a beating when he did it I'd really hate to have to go through it again. And I'm sure Hughesy and Benni'ss team-mates would hate to have to answer the same question over and over again regarding a Benni move. As for Jeffers; cut bait with the lad. He'll be good for Ipswich but we have absolutely no use for him and 500k is a good return. His value can only decline as his contract whittles away, that is assuming he does very well for Ipswich. He could also get hurt or do nowt for the Imps and we'd be lucky to get a tenner for him. Sell him now and be done with him. let Hughesy set his targets on another reclamation target...
herbergeehh Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Don't start that debate again Scott Parker is a bloody amazing signing by a club fighting relegation, one of the best overall midfielders in the league in my opinion.
Guest shoppybrfc Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 The Geordies dont rate Parker at all, most will be glad to see the back of him, he hasnt really performed for the Toon.
Macky Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 The Geordies dont rate Parker at all, most will be glad to see the back of him, he hasnt really performed for the Toon. Thats not what the geordies I know think of him!!
Roar of the Rover Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 The Geordies dont rate Parker at all, most will be glad to see the back of him, he hasnt really performed for the Toon. At his best he can be as good as Owen Hargreaves or even better as hes got the attacking edge. Geordies no F All, no wonder they haven't had any success up there.
HairwayToSteven Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Dont forget the Spanish clubs. Zaragoza (if they make it) or Valencia or Seville could all come calling. Well, I don't think so. I don't think even McCarthy would go for that. He's in the country that he wants to play in (remember when he was at Porto?).
HairwayToSteven Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Four to go? Apart from potentially Pedersen, I don't see how you can include Spurs, as I'm assuming you are. Blatantly, neither Bentley nor Benni would have any intention of moving there. You are correct, however I felt since those three players have been the best of our players linked away I had to bring the fifth team in. It would make no sense not to.
Cocker Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 But that's old news surely ? Sky Sports earlier today ? I think it was all up in the air because there was talk that Ranieri (or however you spell his name) would wait and see if the man city take over went through. To be fair, I have never liked 'the original tinker man' The reason that he is waiting to see if the take over goes through is so that he can tinker away and spend some cash. The current crop of city players would be tough for anyone to sort out (And in my humble opinion Distan was their best defender too)
philipl Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Looks like the Sun got the Mark Hughes to City story right then.... Man U have moved decisively and impressively this summer- that is going to be one very exciting team to watch next season. Hated them when they had Best, Law and Charlton so will still hate them. As for the window, I suspect that Benni and MGP are discovering that much as they would like to play for the Big $ oops 4, the Big 4 are shopping in different stores these days. Certainly, the Mancs have signalled the going rate for a signing by an EPL CL team is £15m which isn't a bad starting point if the other three come calling. MGP might be high up Jol's shopping list but they are not going to have Saha and a wadge in place of Berbatov by all indications and I would be disappointed if we cannot fend them off. As for the threat from the lesser lights in la Liga qualifying for the CL, look at this set of tables from the BBC. The disparity between Real, Barca and the rest financially is even more marked than Big 4/ the rest in the EPL so Rovers will be able to fend off their interest in all respects except CL football. In any event, Benni's South African walkabout and "I want to join Chelsea" hardly makes him a sure fire bet for someone in Spain who might otherwise be contemplating a £10m+ bid. I think Rovers are sitting in the most comfortable position for many summers. Naming Bellamy in the paper means the club are sure to mount a concerted effort to bring him to Ewood.
Esulx Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Here's the latest on possible released players from Rovers... according to the Daily Express "Blackburn defender Michael Gray has been told his contract will not be renewed while Andy Todd, Francis Jeffers and Peter Enckleman will follow him out of the Ewood Park exit door."

brfc fan Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 "Blackburn defender Michael Gray has been told his contract will not be renewed while Andy Todd, Francis Jeffers and Peter Enckleman will follow him out of the Ewood Park exit door." I hope Enckleman does go. He's so bad, he doesn't deserve to play in the Prem.

Blatantly, neither Bentley nor Benni would have any intention of moving there. In reallity there are more than four. If anybody is daft enough to think that league position has anything to do with things let them delude themselves BUT..... There are the usual top 4 suspects plus Spuds plus WHU who are top rank payers now, plus dangerously re-invigorated finances at the Mags, Villa Park, Man City. Even Pompey appear able to outbid us on wages. As far as attracting players in the financial rewards stakes we are rooted down near the bottom with the likes of Notlob and Wigan.

b12_simon Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 The Geordies dont rate Parker at all, most will be glad to see the back of him, he hasnt really performed for the Toon. Cobblers! For one, my Geordie lodger thinks Parker is the dog's swingers. For two, so do the rest of them.
youandwhosearmy Posted June 1, 2007 Author Posted June 1, 2007 Pedersons agent pimping him about oh dear, looks like another agent trying engineer a move for one of our players sounds like complete ###### to me, and im getting pretty sick of this kind of attitude from players and agents if things continue, its going to be impossible for any other clubs to break into the top four, if it isnt impossible already. These days if a player has a good season the media act like he should be playing for one of the top sides, ie berbatov, McCarthy etc etc also: ANOTHER RELEASE CLAUSE, jesus christ, what for? 5 million or something stupid?
Billy Castell Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Isn't Rune Hauge the agent who gave brown envelopes to George Graham all those years ago?
adopted scouser Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Isn't Rune Hauge the agent who gave brown envelopes to George Graham all those years ago? Yes. I loathe agents, whores at the capitalist gangbang.
Esulx Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 I'm getting pretty pi55ed off with reading about clauses in contracts for our players. I've had enough of this will he wont he speculation. This is what I know for definite... When the first game of the season comes round, I'll be supporting the Blackburn Rovers team who are on that pitch whoever they may be.
Billy Castell Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Our scouting network seems to have improved loads since Hughes took over. So at least we can take comfort in being confident that if a big name player leaves, we could could bring in someone of a similar standard. so far we haven't had any Grabbis. I do think we should look domestically as well as abroad though, as there may be some great players around the lower divisions. Perhaps a trial before any purchase would work.
youandwhosearmy Posted June 1, 2007 Author Posted June 1, 2007 god lets just give our players to top 4 and be done with it anyways, like many have said, i completely have faith in Mark Hughes and his team, so whoever he gets is fine by me

Thought to be around 10 mill pounds. This seems to be another wind up.
