Thought to be around 10 mill pounds. This seems to be another wind up.

Duff's was £17m, right? MGP is similarly rated by the management and signed a new deal in summer 2006. From that I'd expect his release clause to be similar (probably more allowing for transfer fee "inflation").

Didn't Hughes say recently that there are no release clauses this year?

All this commotion is simply agents posturing to take advantage of the huge Sky money on offer next season. They will all be at it, but not every player can move to the top 5. [Thought it was the top four, seems the media have pushed Spurs up there].

50 days to Intertoto

71 days to Kickoff of the Premier League season

& 91 more days of nonsense designed to sell papers, get people clicking links(both which help set advertising rates)& unsettle players that others are unhappy are playing for us.(even if we are a member of the Special 7**)

Benni and Mort will be Rovers on September 1, unless an absolutely ridiculous price comes in for 1 of the 2 or both. There are 3 years left on each player's contract and no release clauses, no matter what any wishful idiot might write. JW & Mark Hughes (especially) will not let any player under contract (Lucas was at the end of his) leave, no matter what the hell they want, unless it is in the best interests of the football club.

One final note: I would find it staggering if JW & Sparky are lying about the clauses issue this time. (Of course they never said flat out that there were none last year. We just got a bunch of evasive answers from various persons.) It would completely destroy their credibility and have an intensely adverse effect on ticket sales both this year and in the future (season sales especially). Nobody would believe a promise of theirs ever again.

**I will only explain what it means after someone guesses correctly.

All of the big 5? Unlikely. We can rule United out of it, they've already spent tons of money on three players (with Ferguson saying that he only wanted three identified targets at the end of the season) and he hardly fits into their style of play. Chelsea don't really need another wide player. Once again he doesn't really fit into the style at Arsenal and doesn't have the pace that they would want. That leaves Liverpool and Spurs as the only real options and I think even Liverpool will be setting their targets a little higher and are probably going to look to Spain. If he wants to leave us for Spurs then that seems a very odd move to me.

Isn't Rune Hauge the agent who gave brown envelopes to George Graham all those years ago?

and the one who have done deals with Graeme Souness involving norwegian players at every british club Souness have managed. And its well known that Souness received several of Hauge's infamous brown envelopes as well.

True, last year Hughes did not outright deny that there was a clause in Bellamy's contract, but I wouldn't trust him if he says that there are none this season. He's going to do everything he can to hold on to Pedersen. Where there's smoke, there's usually fire, and it wouldn't surprise me if there is a release clause in there. £10 million for Pedersen would be tough to take.

As a player why would you want to get involved with agents like that? It'd be alot easier if it was his dad, at least he would have his best interests at heart.

I fear for MGP's future if he moves to chelsea, just another duff situation. Man Utd he wouldn't stand a chance with the new bodies they are bringing in to an already strong midfield. Liverpool isn't a bad bet and the speculation has been around for a while. Arsenal just doesn't seem like a club for him and finally spurs, what midfielder in the premiership are they not after?

Well go on then; I'll have a go: I think by "special 7" you mean the 7 clubs in the EPL that the media despise the most, mainly because they don't have enough supporters.

Or is it the Seven "feeder clubs" to the "Big" clubs? The seven clubs whose players with any ounce of talent are "wasted" on such an "inferior" team, when of course these players should if nothing else be bit players for a 'top' side. The same seven that the media try hardest to unsettle the players and do their damnedest to get these players signed to a bigger club so that they can have a few pages of easy stories to put to print....Notice, if you will, the liberal usage of quotes, which suggests that I've seen these terms used before where applicable. The media is disgusting it really is...US sports journalism is bad, but the UK sports media trumps even our lowly journo's..

this may be controversial, but i couldn't give a rats arse if MGP left, he might be good at dead ball and set pieces, but im fed up with lacklustre performances, i know i will get my arse chewed here. But his defensive duties are non exsistent, and he just for me doesnt get involved, pitches in with the odd goal. But if we get a good price for him then i say we take it and invest. MGP had a good season in 05/06 but this season very poor

You're just not watching the games closely enough are you? I have ample evidence on DVD of MGP's defensive work on MANY occasions this season. Some of the tackles he has made (coming out with the ball clean as a whistle) would have done credit to any international full-back. Even Bill Eckersley would have been proud of some of them. His tracking back and positional sense are very good as well. I just can't begin to understand where you are coming from!

Is it that we're one of only seven clubs who have won all three domestic trophies?

How's about one of the seven clubs to have represented England in the Champions League?

One of the seven clubs to have qualified for Europe next season, - plus Bolton?

I had a look at the founder members of the Premier League and The Football League, there's only three - Villa us and Everton.

I really haven't a clue, are there seven clubs which have secret nick names after the seven dwarves? With Rovers being "Grumpy"?

I find that abit bizarre. I would say some of his strongest attributes is the cover he gives his full back and his work ethic even if his tackling isn't great. Does much more on the defensive side than Bentley imo.

I do feel we could replace him if we lost him, but decent left footers are rare, and it would take time for a new signing to settle. Holding onto him is by far the best outcome really.

Spurs are obviously the club sniffing around MGP as per usual otherwise his agent wouldn't have laughably referred to Spurs as being one of the "big five"

Apart from a slight wage increase in percentage terms it beats me why anyone would want to go to Spurs. They've no more chance really of winning anything than we have (i.e. Cups only) and have such a large squad that you're likely to disappear without trace for large parts of the season.

Hopefully we can take Mark Hughes word that there are no "clauses" in anyone's contracts this year. From our point of view if there are it's probably about time someone else started negotiating them.

okay then to cut the crap, i dont rate him, i think his work rate isnt great, whacks in some good crosses now and then, scores the odd freekick. I dont agree on defensive duties, ive seen alot of rovers games this season, and he just jogs back where warnock is busting his nuts to clear the attack. it wouldnt bother me in the slightest if we got rid of him, i think there are more than enough decent left wingers to fill in, while we're at it i dont rate emerton either

Sorry mate, thats just plain wrong. Thats not my opinion, its just stats, as i believe that MGP runs the most in the team, according to that new fangled tracking device that Hughes likes so much. Nobody covers more ground then him.

Can't see there being a release clause in his contract. MH has puclicly stated that we don't have any release clauses to worry about this summer and I don't think he would come out and say that if it wasn't the case - especially after the Bellamy saga last summer.

Also, when did MGP sign his new contract? I'm sure it was last summer? Again, can't see Rovers being caught out on the release clause prbolem once again?? Could they?? :o

According to Norwegian tele-text Kristofer Hæstad is on Mark Hughes' summer transfer list.

With the emergence of the Axe, the addition of Dunn and essentially Reid, would we even have any room for Haestad? I guess if it's a minimal price, he'd be good for the future. Just don't know how he'd like coming here just to play sparingly or be loaned out...But it's probably a re-hash of old headlines...

Pedersen runs further than any other Rovers player during a match. Gets up and down to attack and defend more than anyone else

Your definitley right there, i can't remember what the machines or something like that is called, it measures how much distance a player has covered and Morten is the highest ranked Rovers player.
