  1. 1. Have your say on the summer transfer window.

    • Should have had more cash to spend. Almost everyone else did.

On a serious note, we should go for GEREMI

haha Geremi...oh wait you were being serious...

Why the heck would we need him? He wouldn't even get a start. He might be the 4th mid-fielder after Sav, Reid, and Moko and I'd probably even put Dunn in front of him, even though they play different styles...

We need creativity in the mid-field not mis-timed tackles and mis-placed passes...

He might be thinking of playing him as a right back. I still wouldn't, but it isn't a bad idea.

Sparky seems to be keeping his cards very close to his chest (as he often does) which leads me to believe he might already have chosen the players he wants and is trying to prevent competition from elsewhere and keep the fees down. Basically there's no point in saying who we should try and sign and who we should throw out because its obviously all been decided, but that won't stop us now will it?!

I don't like this talk of a swap deal involving Beattie and Roberts... the way Roberts played for Wigan and the way he played for us towards the end of the season is far better than Beattie has played for about three years in my opinion. A fresh start might see Beattie rise to his best again but I don't think its worth the risk unless Everton offer serious cash in addition.

Good player but I don't think an essential signing. If were spending more than 2mil on him we must have a bit to spend. Is he best at CB or RB?

He played at CB in the play-off semi final at Derby and was outstanding on the night. Judging by that performance I am not surprised if we are pursuing him.

From what I've heard, he's a very good player. £2.5m might be a little excessive though. Oh, and I believe he's a fullback.

Very good player but 2.5 is excessive? I really don't see why we need another defender unless we are unloading a couple.

But we are. Gray has been released, Todd is almost certain to leave, and Henchoz is pretty much past it (IMO anyway). So at the moment we have:

DL: Warnock, Berner

DR: Emerton (He's also cover for the right side of midfield)

DC: Samba, Nelsen, Zurab, Ooijer (Can cover DR too), (Henchoz)

And in emergencies we have Mokoena and Reid too, but I don't count them as defenders.

So, in adherence with the old standard of having two players for each position another D R/C makes sense, even if the fee probably is a bit steep considering that I don't think he's an improvement on our first eleven, although I could be wrong on that score not having seen more than the odd game in the past two seasons.

Can't he now buy himself out of his contract?

I think it depends on when the contract was signed, if he signed before he was 28 it had to be a four year contract and he needs to serve his three years and pay compensation for the final year unless there is just cause for termination, if he was over 28, the contract needs to be at least three years for him to be able to buy his way out.

He is 29 now so he needed to sign for at least four years and served three otherwise, as I read it, he doesn't qualify to be able to terminate.

All I know is it isn't as cut and dry as the media try and make it.

Even if I am wrong I don't think he would come here anyway........

Not a likely signing now - Hughes & Williams constantly bang on about only signing players who can improve the starting 11. There isnt really a place for Geremi in that 11 i think.

Fulham have had both bids for Kamara & Koumas rejected. I wonder if we will make a move for either?
