Official transfer activity so far this summer from a casual glance at two sites:

EPL clubs have committed to buying 14 players for around £65m. Sunderland, Bolton, Newcastle, West Ham, Wigan, Birmingham, Chelsea and ManU have completed at least one transfer, the other 12 have no incoming moves so far. This doesn't include Barton yet.

I thought to all intents and purposes ManUre had wrapped up three signings for c 40m?

It's not the fact we haven't completed a signing yet, it's the calibre of player we've been linked with - mundane in the extreme. Nor have we been linked with a player who imo would significantly improve the side - Bellamy aside - and that appears to be a non starter.

Apparently the deal has stalled.

Barton wants a loyalty payment as he has not asked for a move.

City have refused to negotiate a payoff according to the BBC. Also Big Sam is upset!? If he is that upset maybe Newcastle should pay it.

Doesn't that just sum up in a nutshell everything that is wrong with the modern day footballer?

Barton has agreed a deal at Newcastle worth around 15m to him in total yet he's quibbling over Citeh handing over 300,000 - about four weeks new wages.

I can't see he has a leg to stand on. Presumably either he or his agent insisted on the 5.5m clause going into his contract originally and when Villa and Newcastle made suitable offers allowing them to speak to Barton, it was presumably still up to the player whether he fancied a move or not.

Even if he was technically in the right you'd have thought he would very publicly waive the clause considering the amount of baggage he carries with him.

I wouldn't lob £5m or whatever they ask for Koumas, we'd be better off getting Mehrdad Bongo from FC Onion or some other guy like that for a shellsuit and a rack of Fortune's kippers.

The £5m was an offer for both Kamara and Koumas. That was after they rejected £3m for kamara.

I keep saying it but Koumas under the right coach will be a very handy player in the premiership and probably exactly what we are after.

Err, you are talking about Trezeguet are you not?

Geremi's still 28 for about 6 months. He's played for 'Boro so IMO there's a good chance he would play for us. Good squad player. Way better than Mokoena anyway.

Oh and for the record. There's not a chance in hell that Trezeguet would even consider any club outside the top 4 in this country.

Yeh I was, in response to Eddie.

I think Geremi is an excellent player, he proved that at in his time at Burrah. I don't think he would like our wage structure too much though.

Is this Bongo lad a good player, then?

I'm not sure if I'd sign another player from FC Onion, though. Left a bitter taste in the mouth last time...

700k isn't too bad, it's a great signing for Coventry aswell. Still a good Premiership defender with 3-4 years left in him at least.

The BBC have now updated that story and taken out the 700k and replaced it with...

Coventry are favourites ahead of Wigan, Rangers and Sunderland to sign Blackburn defender Andy Todd. (Mirror)

Have any of you guys thought that their maybe there is a correlation between Rovers lack of activity in the transfer market and the proposed takeover of the club. Its something that hit me this morning when the club announced that they are in takeover talks.

Nah, Hughes will do his normal wait till the last minute and then make 3 quality signings

Well at least once the takeover business is sorted we can start concentrating on buying a few players. Rather than replacing Tugay with Koumas - maybe we should be aiming for Kaka now. I know he'll never be quite as good as Tugay but its as close as we'll get.
