  1. 1. Have your say on the summer transfer window.

    • Should have had more cash to spend. Almost everyone else did.

Can't understand where all these rumours about Savage leaving are coming from.

The only thing I can think of is the rags think that we have too many players now our injury boys are back so they are just trying to pick out who we might sell.

IMO I dont think that he or any of our other main guys will be going anywhere in this transfer window

With a bit of luck they'll all be curious about the proposed takeover and whether we're going to swoop for Henry before the end of the transfer window. :tu:

You wacky norweigen! Trust you to find a polish trialist whilst looking for an english business man. We do seem to have alot of trialists at brockhall.

Hah Ha made me smile first thing this morning that did.

Depending on the offer I'd be very tempted to sell Savage.

Don't get me wrong I love Savage, he is, despite being a tad controversial someone who gives his all. However, I fear his ability to be effective on the pitch will rapidly decrease over the next two years. His main strength is his ability to tear around like a headless chicken - he can't rely on his technique once his stamina decreases.

£2 - £2.5 mill and I'd sell. Although Selling Sav would mean we that a central midfielder or two would be a must.

Well everything could change massively if the take-over is completed before the start of the new season.

I like Savage a lot, and at present would not want to sell, but if we were to have a large cash injection, then there are better, younger players out there that we would be able to attract.

Yakubu to leave 'Boro? Smith and Beattie the replacements?

First of all, if Yakubu is for sale, then he should be topping our transfer targets list. If we are to receive a substantial transfer kitty as a result of the impending takeover, then imagine Bellamy and Yakubu up front - that would be absolutely incredible! And if we failed with those two, then Smith would also be a great signing.

However, if our budget were to be relatively modest, and we were to go for Beattie, then it looks like we could face competition. Everton could also use Beattie as a make-weight in any Yakubu deal.

I don't know, Savage along with beckham, has to be one of the fittest players in world football. I can easly see him staying at the top of his game for the next two seasons. Considering that he is the heartbeat of the team the only way we should consider selling is if we can say with certainty that we can get someone of greater qualtiy. Im no expert but no one comes to mind we could realistically get hold of, even with increased transfer funds. Plus he is close Hughes philosophy so i just can't see him going.

As I said in the club for sale thread, if we get both Bellamy and Yakubu (let Nonda and maybe even Roberts go) that would make me very very happy.

I don't think Hughesy will sell Savage, and I don't think Savage will leave either. Looking forward to see him back in the team next season, he's a hell of a lot stronger now and won't be easy to shrug off the ball. He's been working a lot in the gym and is quite well built compared to how he was before his injury

Reid has always looked like the long-term Savage replacement for me, he's got a great engine, good strength and will get stuck in to the opposition. Maybe the form of Mokoena last season has convinced Hughes that Reid can take that role now with Mokoena to fill in when needed, with Tugay and Dunn competing to be in the 'playmaker' role. Five central midfielders does seem quite a lot to me, and I have wondered how Mokoena can go to fifth choice after his great form at the back end of last season, maybe selling Savage is the answer.

If we could get something like our money back for him I'd definitely be tempted, if Hughes could add that to his budget for a striker then I think we'd have a stronger overall squad (personally I feel Reid is better than Savage anyway).

I suppose you have to take into consideration the fact that both Reid and Savage are returning from long term injuries and could take a long time to recover their form. With an injury like Savage's, you might never return to your former form.

But I guess you won't find out until you give both a long stretch in the first team and I wouldn't want to bring in replacements just yet.

Of course, so much depends on whether the takeover is completed before the start of the new season.

"Blackburn said he was not for sale and you have to respect that."

If he respected that he wouldn't be talking about him to a national newspaper. He is desperate for benni to kick up a fuss and demand a move.

heh, so far we must have been the least active club in the premiership as far as transfers go, I haven't read a single real piece of news regarding us.

But are #1 priority should still be to get our injured players back to 100% before the season starts. Hopefully that's going according to plan?

Interesting to see the different interpretations of Mourinho's comments. Headlines on the newsnow site is both "Mourinho ends Benni interest" & "Mourinho fails to land McCarthy", and at the same time "Blues confirms Rovers striker interest", and "Jose adimts striker move hopes".

Basically the same few sentences, but a totally different view on things.

Just noticed after the bbc updated its gossip column

Six Premiership clubs are interested in Feyenoord's Royston Drenthe - with West Ham and Sunderland the leading chasers. (The Independent)

Not that we really are deserate for another left back but he is a top quality player. Also int eh column was more on West Ham offering £10m for Benni Mc.
