Sparky can sort him out, because he's a top player really, just did'nt settle in that well. Bentley wer'nt that good when he joined us and look at him now, one of the best right wingers in the country.

Hang on, who is Cisse's current manager and why can't he sort him out? (I am being naughty here- we had the great Rafa debate on not the Champions League winners thread)

Cisse does not convince me and I would guess the two horrible leg breaks might have done for him in the same way as Nonda is not the player he was. That said, Cisse and Anelka as a combination at Notlob IF it works could be an awesome proposition. On the other hand, it might make for a dressing room that Littlle Sam finds too much to handle.

I would think, the current ownership and the putative new owners will have a mechanism sorted for handling transfers whilst the negotiations are happening. If Dan Williams is backing current management then that has got to be an obvious thing to do.

I know it's been mentioned but Roma want 1.4m for Nonda. He's currently in Monaco training twice a day as he feels his fitness levels weren't up there last season.

Personally I would say his problams werent down to fitness it was down to his ability to miss the target from a yard out!!!

I suppose if we can hold out for 1m for jeffers it might not be a bad option as he may return to decent form.

Nonda's agent on why it wasn't the real Nonda we saw last season:

there was a new way of preparing for the game. For example in Italy or France you go to a hotel two or three days before the game but in England you sometimes head to the ground as little as three hours before the match

Ahh, so that is why he didn't play as good. I guess a couple of nights watching pay-tv should do the trick then..

According to Norwegian press four Premier League clubs are looking to sign Daniel Braaten from Rosenborg.

Could we be one of the four?

Braaten is a class player at his best, but he got the same problem as MGP. Preformance goes up and down from game to game. One game world class, the next he looks like a part-timer in the second division.

I agree with your views on Braathen, however, I feel he's in general more inconsistent than Gamst. And also too weak for the PL at the moment IMO (having said that, Gamst also were when he got here, until he was sorted out :P)

He's certainly not to weak, easily one of the strongest players in the Norwegian league. Physically a fantastic prospect, with pace, strenght and balance. I wouldn't compare him to Gamst in many ways though, this guy has always had it, but is known for being lazy and too laidback. I would think that's an exaggeration, his fitness levels are really good I'm sure - his good games show that. I would be really positive to a deal here, he's got abilities we need. Techniqually gifted, extremely good balance and pace, and a good finisher aswell.

Oh dear... I must have been confused by his "ability" to fall down easily :P But on the creative side, he's a good prospect, I'll give you that. However, I agree with you regarding him being too lazy at times...

Players I think we should keep tabs on, in order of preference: Yakubu, Bellamy, Defoe, Crouch, Nugent, Mido, Beattie...

Only Bellamy of those IMO. And we should go for Alan Smith. £3.5 is a good deal. Hate him now, but I think we would love him if he played for us.

I'd still love to see Camara here - surely he's sick of Wigan now and wouldn't mind moving up the road. He's very fast, doesn't get shrugged off the ball easily and has an eye for goal. His problem is that he was playing for Wigan last season, and Henry and Ronaldinho would have looked ordinary there.

You reckon the right manager could sort him out erik or is it just the way he is? :rover:

Kanoute is a top striker, i'd guess that there will be some CL clubs in for him. As for Camara, no thanks, the guy is a decent striker with a bad attitude.

Kanoute would be a good move, but he's probably not interested in joining us since Sevilla will be playing Champions League next season.

Christian: I'm sure Braathen could be a top top player, I can't say I've heard too many complaints from his coaches and managers either, it's mostly the media and some supporters getting on his back for not looking interested at all times. Would be delighted to see him join, his price probably won't be too steep either with his contract running out. We know Rovers have good Norwegian connections, and I wouldn't be surprised if we're one of those four clubs. For the record, Braathen can play on the wings or as a striker - he'd probably be more comfortable upfront.

He's one of those players that everyone in Norway likes to see do well, because of his trickery and extreme potential. Without taking the comparison too far, he reminds me a bit of the player John Carew was in his younger days, tricky and a bit nonchalant, but with fantastic physiche.

Wouldn't happen here...

Sorry forgot about Smith - if you trace my posts you'll see that I have advocated Smith as a definite target. I'd put him above Defoe in my order of preference.

Got to say that I'm curious as to why you wouldn't want Yakubu at the club. He seems a pretty decent bloke and I don't remember him once screaming to the press about wanting to move from an extremely poor 'Boro team. Outside the top 4, he is probably the best striker in the league. EDIT: other than Berbatov!

Also,

Roberts wants to return to the south

What a load of garbage! He came to us after a couple of seasons at Wigan, and before that played for a fair while at the Hawthorns! There must be a different reason. Very worrying nevertheless, considering his excellent end of season form.

Apparantly Rovers had a scout in the stands watching the game between Odd and Rosenborg so it's not unthinkable that they were watching Braaten. I personally feel he's far too inconsistent to hold down a regular spot in our side but he would undoubtably become a valuable player for us. He's got the whole package and has proven he can cope playing against the best, and for a minimal fee I think it's definitely worth bringing him in.

Could be a replacement for Roberts in terms of that physical presence upfront, if the rumours are true. With Roberts' recent form, we should easily be able to recoup the money spent on him plus some more, and with Charlton selling Bent they do have money to spend. Would prefer Roberts to stay, but it's not all doom and gloom.

I don't have anything against Yakubu as a player or person. I just think that with Boro rejecting £8-£10 mill (or however much it was) offers from Pompey for his services we can forget about him. If we are spending close to that much on one player it should be Bellamy who we know can perform in this side. There's no guarantee that Yakubu would be as successful. So far he averages 12-14 goals a season in the prem. Not worth £10m plus IMO.

Even though it is Tribal, it is still nice to see Rovers linked with top $ players again (see links thread).

Might change perceptions in the press about us being a selling club and amongst our, ahem Benni, players.
