thenodrog Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 if we swapped savage for camara, i for one would be extremely ###### off. Would like to see savage stay and im sure we could do alot better than henri camara I cannot see Sav being transferred until he has proved that he is back to full fitness. Any manager buying somebody unproven after an injury like that would be stupid. Anyway the Sav / Hughes's team seems very strong and I wouldn't be suprised in the fullness of time to see Savage take up a role in coaching / management with them. His enthusiasm for the game would be a benefit to many squads of players.

herbergeehh Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Now this is the kind of move I would like to see. Don't know anything about the Dutch kid other than what's been written here - but a young striker with some pedigree, perhaps a more skillful version of the enthusiastic Derbyshire - to play alongside McCarthy.
herbergeehh Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 As for Savage, I would be extremely surprised to see him leave. He's Sparky's golden boy in many ways, and a fundamental part of our team.
USABlue Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Sav has turned down a move to wigan. How does that happen? Did we accept a bid? I would have thought the club would have to accept a bid before sav could turn down anything, am I correct?
USABlue Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 I love his flip-overs though. Do you like 'em enough to shell out 3mil. I don't anticipate him doing that many of them.
mike at picture Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Desperate this lack of news isn't it!! Doing my head in. Cant remember a close season like it.
Cocker Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 As with the Hull bid I say fair play to city though I dont think they have a chance with this one - Click
RevidgeBlue Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Now this is the kind of move I would like to see. Don't know anything about the Dutch kid other than what's been written here - but a young striker with some pedigree, perhaps a more skillful version of the enthusiastic Derbyshire - to play alongside McCarthy. Why swop a young English lad with a very impressive goals ratio for a young Dutch lad with 5 goals in 62 games?
FourLaneBlue Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Why swop a young English lad with a very impressive goals ratio for a young Dutch lad with 5 goals in 62 games? Why swap him with Derbyshire? Don't think anyone has mentioned Matty as a swap...there's no way he'd want to leave his local Premiership club anyway. Surely a young promising Dutch striker would be perfect to replace Nonda...who would cost money we would be unlikely to get back due to his age. If we are to spend money in players I would rather it went on younger players than on older players the value of whom, like new cars, quickly declines in the course of a few years. Only in exceptional circumstances - such as Hughes wanting Savage to build the atmosphere of the club around - should we pay for players around the 30 years and over mark.
herbergeehh Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 I wasn't considering the Dutch striker as a replacement for Matty, it was merely a comparison. Let's face it, as much as we all love Derbyshire: He is a limited player on the big scale. Which is why I liked the idea of signing the young Dutchman, or more precisely the signing of a player LIKE the young Dutchman - since I haven't seen him myself I obviously don't know if he's capable of becoming a star player - but a youngish striker in the 3-4 million pound bracket with bags of potential is more exciting than some 30 year old from Spain. To me, anyway..

Cocker Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Hmm, even though I was sticking up for Roberts I would love to see Benni and Bellemy up front together - Bellemy could do all the running for Benni no problem. Click (However, I just think they are guessing that it will be a cut price deal because Rafa isnt stupid)
RevidgeBlue Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 FLB, of course everything you say above is correct but I simply read herbergeehh's post at face value i.e. that this lad would be a direct (and preferable) alternative to Derbyshire. Apologies to him if I interpreted the post wrongly but I find there's quite often a general misconception that a 21 year old continental player must automatically be better than a 21 year old British player simply because he hails from the continent.
Lathund Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 There's also quite often the opposite; a perception that an English player is automatically better or preferable to a continental one. I suppose the conclusion here is that preconceived notions are generally not worth much.
Greenall_David Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 As for Matty n Gally they are still young n looking to learn, it would eb perfecy if we got bellamy back and bellers to teach matty n Gally So wen its time they will be awsome! They young guns just need teeling by the big guys like bellers n benni!
grizfoot Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 L'pool on the brink onfsigning Torres which should leave the door open for Bellamy to leave. £26.5million is a little hefty for Torres though.
tcj_jones Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 These are all good players that people are suggesting and that we have been linked with, but we have enough good or mediocre strikers on our books already, along with a few youngsters that will need time to develop and, as such, aren't quite ready yet. Therefore, we should be looking to get rid of the likes of Nonda and replace them only with top quality players, such as Bellamy. I know it is all well and good saying that and, in reality, it will be very difficult to lure these kind of players to the club, but we may as well stick with what we have and wait for the time that they do become available, rather than just waste money on players that won't really imrpove the squad. All we need is one top quality striker and right back. If Roberts or McCarthy leaves, then we will need two. If we can get Bellamy for less than £12 million, then it will be a real bargain when you consider that Fulham have just shelled out over £6.5 million on Kamara and Nugent is set to leave for a similar amount.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Isn't the weather rather wet at the moment.
Exiled_Rover Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Isn't the weather rather wet at the moment. Should have seen Stafford mate, it's underwater. Benni and Bellamy upfront would be quite tasty, though I can't see Craig wanting to come back.
Roar of the Rover Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Rigters would be a great signing, young and a good finisher as he proved in the U21's Euro Championships, i will be really suprised if we get hold of him though.
Roar of the Rover Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Bellamy could go for £6m Link Lets be honest, they wern't really gonna get 12 million for him! The way he played for us, we should've sold him for atleast 8 - 9 million but the clause came in our way.
