Year to year is always scary stuff. Do we ever disclose the fee? lol

Hopefully he's just a replacement for Nonda as fourth choice. Although, piecing together what the NAC fan told us, it seems we've signed someone who's not that quick, not great in the air, but is strong and a decent finisher. Maybe Roberts is off after all? I can't see us signing another striker this summer unless someone leaves, we can't keep five strikers happy at the same time. I just can't see Hughes being happy with the quality up front though if he genuinely wants us to challenge for a top six finish, so I'm hoping that we do have a more proven player on the way as well.

I would hope it is just a typeo and it is a longer deal, 4 was mentioned on the dutch site.

Not very often but the clause was under a million and it looks like £400-500 was the fee. Which is another cheapo signing and can't really be bad from our point of view.

Edit: maybe someone's reading this, it's just changed to "four-year deal" ;)

That "year to year" has now changed to "4 year deal". SSN are also carrying it and they are saying 4 year deal as well.

SSN also claiming that Rovers beat off Celtic, Rangers, Newcastle and Norwich to get him. He must have been impressed by something he saw in us. :)

Agree with the comments above - seems like a great piece of business from Hughes, bearing in mind the level of transfer fees which have been talked about this summer.

If we have no more ins/outs then our forward line looks good for next year: Benni/Roberts/Derbs/Rigter

It will be difficult to choose 2 to start from those 4, especially with JR's excellent performances in the last 5/6 games of the season, and Derbs goals.

I think it will be pretty straightfwd for the management going by the trend developing at the end of last season. That is, Benni and Roberts to start whenever they are fit. The other two are promising youngsters and although that is not a bad strikeforce I will be a bit disappointed if there is not another top striker onboard before the season starts.

But he is on his way to Chelski mate:-

Chelsea are expected to wrap up the signing of Feyenoord wing-back Roysten Drenthe this week.

The People says the star of Holland's Under-21 triumph in the European Championship has flown in to sort out personal terms ahead of a £4million move from Feyenoord.

Drenthe, plus his advisers, jetted in to push through the transfer before rivals could react as the Blues moved fast following rumours that Real Madrid were keen.

Drenthe wants to try to crack Jose Mourinho's side this season, although there is some thinking at Stamford Bridge that he could be sent back to Feyenoord for a year.

However, that is a minority view as Drenthe can compete with Arjen Robben for a game on the left-wing and also cover in other areas, where his skill and speed will be a certain asset.

I dont think he's going to Chelsea and he's definately not going for 4 million. Real Madrid are rumoured to have a offered 8 million

Real Madrid faxed Feyenoord yesterday about their interest.

Royston is still on holiday so there's no way he is jetting to London. Especially as he is in Suriname (South America).

He is out of Blackburn's league as well.

That's not strictly speaking true since last year he played against us in the uefa cup, so he's more or less on a par with us. However, if Chelsea are interested then players think they're out of our league, only to come back to reality a few years later when they realise that Jose likes to have lots of good players. who should be starting games in the prem, warming his bench

He's not on par. He is a top-class talent of a top team in Holland and he will only leave for a club with a big big name unless he has a clash with a manager like Van der Vaart had a couple years ago.

The PL might be a better league and he could earn twice as much but that doesnt appeal if he's not competing for trophies. Blackburn will not be competing for prices in the near future and Feyenoord does...

Especially with signings like Roy Makaay and Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

7/8 million is a big bunch of cash as well.... :o

Nonda doesn't deserve to be in our team simple as that, he doesn't work hard enough and doesn't finish his chances when we need him to.

Don't mean to single you out, you're just the latest to say it. Still don't get the bad feelings people have about Nonda. For a 3rd or 4th striker, he's perfect for us. Had just about as good a strike rate as Roberts had (and I like Roberts).

heard we're looking to sign claus jensen, from fulham. he's available on a free.

good business, if you ask me.

I really hope that isnt true. There are far better players available on a free than him. I would rather have Fowler
