  1. 1. Have your say on the summer transfer window.

    • Should have had more cash to spend. Almost everyone else did.

I think 2.5 million is such a poor offer...and i bet they know it

Why? It's around what we paid for him, and he hasn't gone up any levels in performance from his Wigan days (not an insult, he was very good there), and he's now a year older.

The only way he can be worth considerably more than what we paid for him is if the new television money and/or newly 'rich' clubs are inflating transfer fees.

Snap their hands off, Roberts is never going to be good enough for a top 6 side, we dont see our rivals such as Villa,West ham,Pompey wanting Roberts. Hes not good enough for a potential top 6 side. Use the cash to get Mido, Hughes will keep him in check.

I'm sure Roberts scored more goals than Mido last season.

Mido already messed the club around last year. Best to stay well clear I say.

Defoe!

You do have to wonder about the lad dont you. You hear all the time about footballers who dont really care about playing and are quite happy to get the cash - I think he could be one of em. There is no way he will get that many games next season though I bet he still gets an England call up

Agreed Grizfoot!!

Would hate to see the sight of the fecker around here. I wouldn't welcome him at all.

At the moment, he wouldn't really be pushing for a place:-

Derbyshire, Gallagher, Jeffers, McCarthy, Rigters, Roberts.

After the Torres press conference there can be little doubt left that Bellamy is on his way out.

Asked about what this signing means for players like Bellamy, he responded with "he knows my ideas." Then asked whether that meant he was still here and still part of his plans, he said "Are we talking about Torres?" and the questioner said, "no, Bellamy" then Benitez said "I am very happy to have Torres here."

Very strange. It was as if Benitez was trying to make a deliberate point that he wanted Bellamy out. The usual response would have been a dead batted "Craig's still at the club and part of the squad etc etc."

I thought even then that 2,5 mil was a bargain for Roberts. And anyway Wigan has done some really poor business in the transfer market, so any going rate of theirs shouldn't be any concern for Rovers. Look at Heskey for evidence

I think he'd slot quite easily in to the 4-6 mil cathegory. First team players for decent prem teams don't usually go for less. And selling him now and resorting his role to be played by rather untested Dutch guy would be a big gamble. I believe we are going to keep him and Ritgers is just his backup. Only chance is that we are paying silly amounts for Bellers and need to sell players to fund it. IMO we shouldn't pay more than 7 or 8 mils for Bellamy and we should have that kind of money available (?).

Speaking of other transfer targers, I'd be very happy if we'd be looking in for Ludovic Giuly. It seems clear that he is moving away from Barca. Could be out of our reach but if Newcastle is involved,as is reported, I'd say try to get in and steal the deal the Ritgers way. He'd be genuine superstar quality.

Interesting to hear Rafa's last comment below - wonder if we will see rumours for MGP or Bents start to fly about.

"It is clear we will improve with Fernando but if we can find other players good enough I think we will have better balance.

"When you talk about the Premier League you talk about nine months and you need a big squad.

"We have some names. We are especially looking for wingers."

Tell them Matteo has played on the wing then. Or Gallagher :P

I think we should start looking elsewhere, and not get so obsessed with Bellamy. If he's available, Saviola could be an option, although I don't know if he's moved from Barca to date. Or perhaps get an Argie or Brazilian from MSI or whatever they're called. That would only cost £5.5m.

I am sure Hughes is not obsessed with Bellamy. He will have other targets.

Looking back, Hughes was correct with his comments a few months after Bellamy left. He said (referring to Bellamy), sometimes players should realise (and appreciate) when they are playing well and have a prominent role within a team.

Looks like Bellamy should have listened....
