  1. 1. Have your say on the summer transfer window.

    • Should have had more cash to spend. Almost everyone else did.

£15m being somewhat less than the asking price (for obvious reasons in Shevchenko's case and with Benitez's curent valuation of Peter Crouch being another) I would hope!

Yeah £20 million! Is he actually challenged mentally in someway! I would say 8m and that is with the english player inflation! The guy is not an out and out goalscorer, hes not really a target man and hes not a support striker... In fact i have a hard time coming up with Crouch's position possibly somewhere along the lines of..... Utility Man?? Explanation below

A lanky git who can head a bit (haha rhyming is fun) is sometimes in the right place at the right time but for the love of god dont let him cross unless you want dents on your corner flags, scored a few goals for england in friendlies suddnly hes better than sliced bread....then hes ###### again then he scores one overhead scissor kick and hes England's saviour and the next Ian Rush before everyone realised hes ###### again except scousers who just say to me hes better than mccarthy.... I reply but McCarthy scored more goals... So they say thats only because Rafa dont play him up top because hes more use as a utility man!!! WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN! I hate liverpool fans!!! (Sorry about the rant, but its been building for some time!)

Beattie could be another excellent signing. He's never relied on pace in his game, so he's not got much to lose at his age and there's no doubting that at the top of his game he was a very feared striker in the league. Im sure Sparky can turn him around again and has probably already had a talk to him to ensure this is the case.

With regards to spending our accumulated wealth, whilst it is sat in a bank account somewere it is not losing anything at all, quite the contrary. This is as opposed to the West Hams and Tottenhams, whose investments will almost definately lose money over the course of the signing.

As has already been said, West Ham appear to be the only side capable of possible overtaking Rovers this year following there summer of spending...especially as it now appears they might be in line to form Rovers desired partnership last summer, that of Gudjohnsen and Bellamy.

Beattie and Rigters over Jeffers and Nonda is an absolute definite improvement and one that doesn't leave us significantly out of pocket. Excellent business.

4 million!! What the bloody hell, we have signed Samba, McCarthy, Warnock and RN for the same amount, why would we WASTE 4 million on him.

He is a good striker but certainly not fearsome, if we are going to blow cash on the possibility of talent coming good then spend the extra dollars to kick Owens get out clause.

As far as West Ham go, they will not overtake Rovers, I was just talking to a mate of mine about their squad, and if you really go through it is a list of mediocracy, the majority of which are players of overhyped ability who have neevr stuck two decent seasons back to back.

If reports are correct and Everton are asking £4m for Beattie, I guess Beats is not coming back any time soon.

The Times' assessment of transfer activity so far this summer. A cool £250m+ has been spent by EPL clubs.

Quite a few clubs have done relatively little- Villa, Bolton, ourselves, Everton, Reading whilst City, Boro, Newcastle, Sunderland, West Ham have not spent much net relative to the funds rumoured to be available.

Bring them on, there is no way he would go to Newcastle unless of course they bid 20 mill plus Duff and Luque.

I wouldnt want Duff or Luque cluttering up the place. Duffs legs have gone and what exactly has Luque done.

20m plus Owen and Taylor though :P

There are obviously players with fresher legs or more form HOWEVER, the 20 million would probably do but if they threw in two players that they don't want who on their day are top draw, Sparky could spin some magic and presto, banging in goals from all places

I suppose Newcastle could be a threat. If they genuinely made a move for Ronaldinho, as ludicrous as it is, it does demonstrate they have money to burn. They also have an increasingly handy team and a good manager.

This league is getting so damned competitive, everyhbody seems to be moving in the right direction.

I think Newcastle's Ronnie query was as realistic as my asking the price of a 200 meter superyacht. They aren't in the Champions League either so it would be just money that would attract Benni if they went after him. Much as I would be amused to see the Martins or Owen clauses triggered, I think they are both better off at Newcastle from a Rovers perspective.

Pete Ridsdale has denied interest in Jeffers.

They're not even in the UEFA, nevermind the Champions League. It would be interesting to see what excuse Benni came out with if he moved to Wham or the Barcodes.

Probably the same excuse that Bellamy used when he moved to WHam. That they'd be challenging in Europe in the next few years

Harewood to Villa is an interesting one.... in glimpses he has looked a class act.

He has the raw materials to be a good Prem league striker.

Maybe worth a punt but incosistency would be a worry.

Does anyone else rate Hossam Ghaly, Spuds midfielder/winger who had a strop versus Rovers last season?

Seems like Brum are sniffing around him and he is allegedly available for 1m price tag.

IMO Ghaly isn't even worth 1m. We don't need a hot-headed, defensive midfielder, we already have a Welsh one. ;) Plus, won't he go for Egypt in the African championship this year?...players can be gone for ages w/ that competition.
